I do think you're right - there are some empty carbs in the form of pretzel thins and Triscuits that sneak into my day that could go! That's the sneaky "joy" line. Some won't hurt and makes you happy, but indulge too much and it curtails your efforts. I'm around 23 pounds to my goal weight, so I can see that it won't move as fast (unless you're Liz!). I lost 5.8 pounds this month versus 8 last month. But bonus miracle, I still haven't lost hair, so if that's the trade off, I'm going to try to be okay with a little slower.
Educate me about the dog world. Molly is doing very well in shows. I assume, that if you do breed her, that her puppies amore sought after and valuable. If she doesn't breed, does the fact she was an award winner increase your standing as a breeder, and reflect well on other dogs with her lineage?
Buy smaller clothes! Its worth it. (She says, justifying her own purchases) .
Liz, it's good news that DS has a place to live, and when you put your house on the market, you can all be elsewhere. It will show very well, and I bet you get multiple offers. Your DS has come a long way from when you first introduced the topic of selling. Good for him! I hope this change brings new opportunities for him also.
I had my Oncology appointment this morning, and all is good! I will continue every 6 month check ups until April 2026. In April 2026, I will have been on Tamoxifen for 5 years, and I can stop taking it. I will stay on Eliquis for one more month after I'm done with Tamoxifen.
Good appointment, but news I didn't enjoy: my Oncologist is leaving my clinic and medical system. She is moving to a practice in downtown Minneapolis. She gave me the info so I can follow her if I want. If she was staying in my system going downtown would be no issue. What I'm weighing is having my cancer care move to another medical system. If I had a reoccurance, I would definitely want her as my Oncologist, but would I want to have surgery and follow up in a different system? We are pleased with the care we get currently, and I like the continuity of records. Even my WLS clinic is in my current system. So I'm going to need to give this more thought.
It's a beautiful day on the porch, and I'm wearing my new sun dress :) . When DH gets home in about 30 minutes, we're driving to St. Paul to drop off donations at our favorite thrift store, St. Vincent de Paul, followed by lunch, perhaps on a patio. BFF is coming over for dinner around 6pm. We'll probably do some takeout. Tomorrow I will lunch with my Controversy Club, and Friday we leave for San Diego. I guess I'd better add packing to my list of things to do these next few days.
well-beseen - rather an archaic word! Where are you coming up with these? I also smiled when I read "off-Cape". That is a regional phrase, if there ever was one!
I am back down to my previous low. So, exactly 40 down from the all time high, 35 since starting injections. I really want to work to get this next 6 pounds off to reach my next goal. CC, I think we may be at that stage where we have to look at what we can change to continue to lose a few more pounds. I know for me, I have room to let go of a few more processed carbs. I think that is what I will focus on this upcoming week.
Clothes are beginning to fit really nicely, IMO. I still have my belly, but I sure feel much better in my skin. I am caring again how I look in clothes, too. I'm not enjoying wearing clothes that make me appear "dumpy". I still need comfortable, but over sized is not working.
Some changes in my dog household are upcoming. Little Jiffy is not turning out to be the quality of show puppy I had hoped. That happens sometimes. She will make a wonderful and gorgeous pet for someone, but I don't need to hang on to a dog that is not show quality. So, I am starting to look for the perfect home for her. I also got some iffy news about Molly. She has one hip that on x-ray is very loose - even subluxated. While there is no evidence of degenerative disease, indicating a soft tissue problem, not a skeletal issue, it could develop into a problem later in life. Because of that, some schools of thought recommend not to breed her. Other schools of thought say, go ahead because her familial history has very strong hips and she has no evidence of disease. I am on the fence. So.... Blitz sired a litter that is 10 weeks old. There is a lovely female in the litter. I am working on bringing her home to live here. Fingers crossed. I am hoping to have a new puppy by the weekend. Here she is:
The scare stories are what a lot of people I know cite as well. They don't listen when I point out that most prescription drugs also have a long list of potential side-effects and that the likelihood that they will occur is low. And that the benefits of them are starting to appear even further reaching than for diabetes and weight loss (anti-inflammatory for instance).

I hope you have a safe trip and Kirby does well. Your folks will be happy to see you!

Ruthless is the word when it comes to clearing out stuff!

I agree with Peps. If it doesn't feel like something you want to share, no need to. If they notice your weight loss, just say, Thanks! If they question how you did it, well, Kirby has inspired you to get more exercise. I've been on Wegovy for over a year, and I just told my BFF. I doubt I will ever tell DH's siblings. They know he is taking Wegovy, and they all think he is ruining his health, despite his explaining that it will help prevent Type 2 Diabetes, and is heart protective. All they know is the scare stories, vomiting, diarrhea, pancreatitis, Ozempic face, gastroparisis etc. What's sad is my BIL has type 2 Diabetes, and his A1C is going up again. His doctor prescribed Ozempic, but he won't take it because it will "destroy his liver". Not even sure where he got that piece of scientific information from.
I think it was wise to not mention anything about the weight loss. I'm surprised by who notices and who does not. Plus, you've been doing it so gradually, you can cite your change in as the reason. No need to tell them about the shots. I still have not mentioned a thing to my one friend who has made nasty remarks about the meds. When she asks what I'm doing, I tell her high protein, low carb. That is 100% true, too. I still have to make the choices on what to eat, right?!?!?!
