Plans are good to have when there is a lot to do. I have To Do lists on my phone to keep me focused.

I don't really know what my calories are because this is the first time in my life when I didn't track or count calories to lose/maintain. However, when I was maintaining at this weight previously it was at an average of 1300 calories. More muscle would allow more calories as would better metabolism.

Liz, that was a serious expedition y'all did. I'm impressed.

Question for Liz: Do you have any idea how your calories are averaging over the course of your post-weight-loss 10 weeks of maintenance? I'm not too far from your weight right now and am trying to figure out my maintenance calorie budget at this weight.

Question for Diane S: Do you know how old the "elderly" lady was who was found after 2 days in the woods (yay!)? That word is getting my attention a lot lately, given my upcoming last-year-before-turning-80.

Yesterday, we accomplished neither the mowing nor the mopping. Instead, we made some plans/lists about all the remaining chores, packing, decluttering and eventually moving that needs to happen between now and mid-December.

Today I'll visit the local moving companies and learn about what's involved in moving a grand piano. I will also join my old Ozarks book club for a discussion about historian Doris Kearns Goodwin's new book, "An Unfinished Love Story: A Personal History of the 1960s." Should be a good conversation.

I hope your day's a good one.

I feel for you, Peps. Hardest years of my life (amidst a challenging work schedule) were spent caring for my mom who had Alzheimer's (8.5 years in our home and 4 years at a nearby nursing home). It doesn't last forever, just feels like it will when you're in the midst of it.

This is our last morning on Block Island (we take the 11 am ferry). The weather is as picture perfect as it has been the prior 2 days. Boy I hope we have this kind of weather for DD's wedding in 16 days. Yesterday we did rent bikes which worked out well except for a couple of things. The chain came off on my first bike so we had to call the place to have them drive over a replacement. The second bike was in much better shape all around. But the areas we were biking in which Google Maps described as "mostly flat" were mostly not flat at least in the part where we were biking to see some beautiful cliffs. DH pointed out later that we should have figured that out since we were starting at sea level and going up to the top of the cliffs. We would love to come back in the future but might rent e-bikes and bring them over on the ferry. For some reason you can't rent them on the island but can next to the ferry on the mainland. They are more expensive and you have to pay a higher ferry price to bring them than a regular bike but they sure would make it easier. We did an 8 mile tour but skipped an additional 9 miles because we were too tired. We'd like to see that other part of the island next time.

I forgot to tell you that our Inn which is just off the center of town is next to some kind of a farm which has all kinds of animals including a llama and a camel. Interesting and surprising to see them out the side windows of our room.

After we make our way back off this lovely island we will be picking up Justice and getting my car which hopefully is fully repaired from the rodent damage. Weird to think that I only have another month to drive it before we leave for Florida.

Today is also injection day. Without feedback on my first thing in the morning weight I will probably stay at the same dose which I have been maintaining at for 10 weeks now (5 mg). I feel like I have been eating well but not snacking so I should be about the same.

Time to walk to Ernie's for a cooked egg breakfast. It seems to be the only place on the island with a real breakfast as opposed to an egg sandwich or baked goods.

Have a thankful Thursday!

I do think it is very important that our children learn about momentous historical times. They frame so much of what happens afterwards both individually and as a community/nation.

I have not much to say! Work is fine, weight is the same, the weather is lovely, they had samples at Costco. A satisfactory, drama free day.

My lesson plan today was showing videos and talking about 9-11. My students were not born yet when it happened. They were very respectful and asked good questions. I think it was time well spent.

Wow, what good news about the lady who was lost in the woods! Her family must have been so scared.

Greetings all

It's foggy today and even rained a bit. I went to the studio and did a lot of glazing. The house got cleaned which is good. Our cleaner is taking a trip overseas and will be gone for a month. No telling how bad things will get here.

Sept 11. We all remember where we were and what we were doing. I was getting ready for work when DH told me a plane hit the WTC. I was about ready to leave when #2 hit. I went on to work but nothing got done and we watched the towers go on the conference room tv. Our law firm decided to close and send everyone home since we were all in high rise buildings. Air Force 1 was seen landing at Offut Air Force Base just to our south. What an awful day.

I vote for bicycles Liz. Mopeds are scary. Enjoy the island.

CC glad no one got hurt when the gas line was cut. Sounds like your neighborhood does indeed need the gate so hope it's done soon. Food Fest!! Yeah sometimes life seems like one continuous food fest.

Local news: the elderly lady who was lost in the woods has been found safe. She was out two nights!

We watched the debates since we are news junkies and love this stuff. Enjoyed the last of the chili. Tonight's dinner=???

Peps sounds like you are burning the candle at both ends. Self care needed. Good that your dad is content.

DH is patiently awaiting his replacement iPad since the old one broke. It was actually not old at all. Meanwhile our tv service is in a state of flux due to the soon to be end of tivo and I am having to learn to work the apple tv and YouTube tv. It's not going well.

Got my new rebooks and at least they seem to fit. But they are stiff and feel clunky. I hate new shoes. I feel like taking a mallet and pounding them to soften them up. I will never be Imelda Marcos.

What a terrible, terrible day to remember. I read this morning more people have died from cancer and other illnesses from participating in the recovery and clean up efforts than died that day. A second tragedy.

I had a hair appointment today, but when I got there, an older somewhat confused woman had shown up for an appointment that wasn't in my hair person's book. She offered to do us at the same time or I could come back. (The other woman should have been the one to come back, but I didn't fight it as I was free at noon). I opted to come back. So I went home and walked the dog instead.

While I was gone for my hair appointment, the guys putting in a new electric gate for our private street hit a gas line sending the fire department out. Thankfully nothing blew up... The gas company had come out to mark the gas lines prior to trenching to get power to the new gate, but his sensor picked up the dog invisible fence wire and he missed the gas line. But I'm pleased to report the dog fence was not harmed in anyway . Our neighbors don't have gas though. We get a lot of trespassers who drive down our road ignoring 4 separate "turn around, private driveway, no trespassing signs" for the unobstructed lake view. It's really annoying and people get nasty when you ask them to leave, hence the new electric gate.

I was down a whole 0.4 pounds this week. But with cinnamon rolls and s'mores consumed, I can't complain. I upped my dose to 12.5 today figuring my next batch will be 12.5 sent to AZ in 2 weeks and I should have enough of my 10 to start a little early.

Out to dinner tonight with our guest as the food fest continues!

Take care all...
