Topic: RE: Sunday, June 15, 2025 - Father's Day

I said a Happy Father's Day to my dad this morning. I will call him around 6 or 7 pm tonight - 9 or 10 am his time in California.

Today we woke to rain, but a nice temperature. It rained steadily for several hours, which was fine because we are cruising most of today. Our first excursion is at 3:15 pm. It's raining again and about 75 degrees. I'm hoping the rain stops so we can have a dry walking tour. Because we've been cruising all day, it's been a fairly lazy day.

We are on the Main river. We have to pass through many locks on this river. I have enjoyed the lock experiences, as it is new to me. I decided that these river boats have all been designed to fit in the locks with only inches to spare. Every so often while in the lock, we bump up against the lock wall. It feels just like a smooth version bumper car experience.

We are booking two more cruises. One with my brother and his wife which will tour the Italian coast and cross the Adriatic Sea to Croatia. We'll do a few days in Rome before the cruise and then cruise for 8 days. The other one, well... it's a bucket list trip. A cruise on the Nile River. The tour will include three nights in Cairo with tours of the Pyramids of Giza. Then one flies to Luxor to board the boat and tour the Nile from Luxor to Aswan. Seeing the monuments of Ancient Egypt has been a fantasy since I was a child. Plus, everything I read says travel it up during your 60s and 70s. My dad didn't much like travel by his mid 80s, so I'm keeping that in mind. I'm so good at rationalization!

Today tirzepatide is in hyperdrive. It took me a good hour to eat both breakfast and lunch. I ordered light at lunch and then didn't finish.

Still raining.... Boooooo..... Hope it stops SOON!

120.2

Happy Father's Day to all Dads of ours, Dads with children and Dads with pets.

DD and SIL arrived safely yesterday and pickup was smooth except for the rain which continued until mid-afternoon yesterday. Apparently a lot of restaurants had to close because they only have outside seating. That is how rare rain is here.

We left our old room around 10 yesterday morning so the maid could get it ready for DD and SIL. We didn't get into the room I rented for our last 2 nights until mid-afternoon. It is probably the room farthest from my usual one and farthest from the water. I would never buy a timeshare room in this unit! But it is only for 1 more night.

We went to dinner at our favorite restaurant last night. Everyone loved their steak. Best meal in the 2 weeks we have been here.

Since today is Sunday we will go get breakfast after our morning walk. We head to the piers in the high-rise part of town with the "kids" in late afternoon to take them to a sunset cruise. We will hang around town while they are gone, then we are going for the 3rd time to one of our other favorite restaurants here. Last night in Aruba!

Have a scintillating Sunday!

I never heard of a vent like that but then I never heard of anyone having a stove without a vent at all...

You mentioning rain made me check my weather app to see what it would be like back north next week because sometimes when you have rain in your area one day the same happens the next day in New England. But it looks relatively dry there this coming week.

Love the pix. I know you'll love your exhaust fan in the kitchen. That view is amazing!

Right?! He crossed a boundary. But I still felt bad. Glad he can live to go eat bugs elsewhere.

And the lack of a vent in the kitchen is the single most maddening thing about their building choices. Has made me curse them at least once a week! When I mentioned that they said they didn't want to block the view, the contractor said that's no excuse as these flat whole room vents were an option when they built. Weirdos!

P.S. CC Glad you rescued the lizard even though it had no business wandering into the glue trap. Why on earth did they not build a stove vent in your kitchen? You will get it right. Always something I guess. Stay cool. ds

Greetings all

Gutten tag. That is all I know. It's lovely and sunny here today. Good thing because the Oyster Festival is today. I used to go and it is quite the party. Lots of beer and restaurant booths competing for oyster awards. But it means I will have to use an alternate route to the studio in a bit as the main drags in Arcata will be full and messy. First world problems.

Peps we love all your posts. How cool to see all those places. Gelato rules. Get more. Glad you have a good puppy sitter.

Well Ann I say get yourself a great cruising car and enjoy. Got a plan?

Liz rain in paradise? No fun. Enjoy the last couple of days.

DD we are absorbing your retired energy. Have fun with family.

Paula hope DC1's date goes well.

Not much else. Gotta get up and moving as I have a ton to do at the studio. I discovered I have gallery duty tomorrow also - don't know how that happened- and I have to cover the whole day as my co worker is still not well. Hate being there for 7 hours but it will not kill me. Interesting people always wander in.

Chinese take out last night. Tonight is the great unknown of whatever lurks in the freezer.
