I love the layout of my fridge. French doors on top, a middle horizontal flex drawer that can be used as a fridge or freezer (we use ours for meats and cheeses) and then a bottom freezer with 2 separate sections.

It certainly does sound like studio buddy could use something to reduce her anxiety.

With all the news about the danger of leaving children in cars I can't believe that people still do that. I think the only time I did it a million years ago was in our driveway in our very safe neighborhood with the door open.

Greetings all

The sun is in and out today but it will get up to 60 maybe. Warmer than Florida! Thanks for the weather info CC. La nina is clearly at work. There are more high sea warnings here but I see detect wind and we are 1.5 miles from the ocean. Guess it has its own wind. The crab fishing season just started so I hope the boats will be safe. Me want crab.

So studio buddy was supposed to come over today for some tech support but called and was too tied up with other stuff. So it will be tomorrow. I think she needs anti anxiety meds and will suggest it when she starts complaining about it which is sure to happen. Oh well. That leaves me free today to do the gym and a few other things. I did not find the bracelet in the linen closet but will now start on the walk in in our bedroom. That is where it likely is but I wanted to start with the less onerous closet. Seeing studio buddy go into analysis paralysis over her messy house is motivating me to take action.

So I did the gym yesterday. When I arrived I parked next to a distinctive white van. Went in, climbed the stairs and did 15 minutes on the treadmill and then went back to my car. The white van was still there and I noticed a child in a car seat in the front. About 3 years old. The kid did not seem distressed but it bothered me that the child had likely been alone in the car all that time. I went back in the gym and there was a young woman at the front desk singing up for membership. I asked if that was her child in the van and was he ok? She said yes he is fine. So I left bu****ched until she came out and drove away. It was not a warm day but the van was shut tight and it made me nervous.

So I vote for french door refrigerators. I like only opening one side. Also full sized refrigerator doors almost always have the draw bridge effect so that when open they block a doorway or pathway. My late friend, a kitchen wizard, had a full sized upright freezer next to a full sized upright refrigerator. Both were always stuffed. Anyway Liz you are right to just get a new one as they don't make things worth repairing anymore. (remembering the Saturday night Live sketch about the refrigerator repair man at the Lubners).

Go easy on those ears Peps! Glad you could sleep properly. Side sleeping is a must in my opinion.

More yum yum sandwiches tonight. Onward to the closet. Hoping that no boa constrictors fall from trees in Florida.

Mine had baskets that severely restricted the size of anything in the freezer. May have just been this model.

Congratulations on getting a good gate design and quote. Win!

And so happy to hear that your Dad is feeling well and they are coming to visit.

I think the trainer is wise to recommend that. I started having problems with my shoulders in my 50's and didn't think it was a big deal but I did end up with torn ligaments back then because of the motions I was using in the gym.

Good point about platters but we don't need that kind of space. I don't like the freezer on the bottom and I also like ice and water on the outside of the door which is why I like the side by side. I think I did see refrigerators you could order with the freezer at the bottom and a single door up top though I'm not really positive.

195.8

I am a weather nerd if you couldn't tell. So I'm so disappointed by the endless warm temps and sun when we should be getting a rest from the sun and our water for next year. I asked one of the AI thingies if there have been any winters in Sedona with no snow. And 2010 was proposed as the last one. Then I was reading yesterday about the cold in FL this winter and how they are hoping that if it lasts long enough, some of the non-native iguanas and invasive pythons in the Everglades will die. They mentioned the last time it happened was in 2010. There were also terrible blizzards in the east in 2010. Lo and behold it was a La Nina year just like this year. There's nothing new under the sun...

I got the designs for the gate and I'm so happy with them! Woohoo! Also so glad I asked for a second quote from someone else as it's a few thousand less and includes repairing a steel fence that has bent in the wind (footings weren't deep enough) and repairing the corner of the outdoor shower gate that has rusted through. I am sending the HOA request today.

The man came and took the rugs and chest away. Yay! Wow, they were heavy. Leaving soon for my hair appt.

Food is going well. I need to up my exercise. I did talk to the woman trainer and she would like me to have a doctor look at my shoulder before I start. Blech. Oddly enough, it's feeling better with the massage gun. Still some restricted movement and twinges, but so much better after 6 months.

My dad and his wife arrive on the 9th and will stay until March 4th. Easier than several months. And he's feeling great, so maybe we can pack some fun stuff in.

That's it from here. Hope you're all doing well!

PS - the thing I like about a french door fridge is the wider and deeper freezer. I get annoyed trying to fit wide stuff into a narrow upright freezer side.

Interesting that Liz and DD do not like the "french door" refrigerators. I don't know if the fridge I'd ideally like to have is even available. I'd prefer a bottom freezer, but with a single door fridge unit on top. I have the french door model, but it does have some drawbacks. Ours doesn't always fully shut with a gentle close. That is annoying and wasteful! When we moved in here the house had a side by side. I didn't like that at all because I couldn't put a decent sized platter in the fridge. We used to host a lot of dog club meetings during the summer, so I needed room for large items. The french door model makes holding big things a breeze.

200.9 this morning. Don't like that and not sure why... Oh well...

Was able to sleep on my side a little this morning. Still have to protect my ear, but boy it sure felt good... I wonder why it is that I feel less rested sleeping on my back the entire night? Something about lying on my side, knees bent, in an "adult fetal" position cuddled up with the blanket is so calming and emotionally warm. My left ear is almost feeling 100%. The right ear has a way to go...

Lunch with Dad today, but not much else on the schedule. Need to clean dog ears and cut nails today.

I'm feeling blessed to be in CA today. From Texas to North Dakota east to the Atlantic it seems that it is COLD, COLD, COLD!

I didn't like the French Door model either. I like ice in the door, so when we replaced our fridge a couple of years ago we also bought a side by side. But what a pain this whole electrical situation is! It's not like you needed to deal with the fall out of this when there is so much else happening. Those temps are unbelievable! Are these record lows?

121.4 - getting there. I have been under 120 for almost 1.5 years now so sneaking up past that hurts my head.

Well the refrigerator is slowly saying sayonara. Apparently that brand doesn't do well with power surges and it is a 14 year old refrigerator so no point in having a $700-$800 fix. Also no point in making a claim on our homeowners insurance because the ACV of such an old refrigerator would be less than our deductible. So we bought a new one yesterday to be delivered today. Though it is still somewhat functioning for refrigeration it is getting warmer so DH is going out to get ice right now (7:30 am) so we can put stuff into coolers. I am getting a side by side because unlike the rest of the world I don't like French door refrigerators. We got one when we redid the kitchen in central Massachusetts in 2011 and I hated it so when we replaced the one on Cape Cod I went back to a side by side. Who knew that the French door ones which were pretty new in 2011 would ultimately dominate the refrigerator market.

Hopefully the elevator will be fixed by the time the refrigerator comes though it wasn't as of last night. The sales person assured us they could deal with the stairs if they had to. It sure is lucky no one in our building is disabled because having the elevator out would become a really big deal.

Also, hopefully the delivery time does not conflict with the tennis tournament volunteer time (2:45-6:45). They are supposed to call this morning with our 2 hour delivery window.

Other than that we will be packing for the Keys. We plan to leave after the usual Sunday breakfast tomorrow. When we leave for breakfast the forecasted temperature will be at the low of 26, with wind chill making it feel like 10. Brrrr...

Time to put stuff in the cooler, then a Justice walk, followed by yoga. Have a sultry Saturday (not here with that forecast)!
