Roasted cherry tomatoes sound good! I love anything with tomatoes.

No weight again since my morning was still in Door County but I know it will be up!
DC1 went all out for Mother's Day. Bought me flowers, a cake and grilled dinner for us. They also bought kabobs for tomorrow night's dinner. Very thoughtful and appreciated. The other two boys weren't able to make it but both texted me well wishes. DSD sent me a very nice card. The weather was beautiful so DH, DC1 and I sat out on the patio. It was glorious!
Busy week ahead. Tomorrow is hair cut and color and a mani/pedi for wedding ready nails. Tuesday I get a spray tan and Wednesday morning we take off for Fargo (an 8 hour drive). Thursday we have to run wedding errands, take possession of the grandcat for the rest of the week and have a rehearsal dinner. Friday is the wedding. Saturday will be recovery day (I hope) and we will drive back home on Sunday. I'll try to post as much as I can but can't guarantee it will be daily!
Hope you all had a great weekend and that the week ahead is fabulous!

Hello! I had a nice day yesterday. My friend Cathy and I went to Flagstaff for the day. Mostly to go to Home Goods. When you live in a town with literally nothing but tourist shops a good Home Goods visit is a treat! She is really fun to shop with. I got a couple of green rope chairs that will be easy to move around and they are the exact color of my new outdoor umbrellas and pillows.
I got Kirby a new toy basket as he broke the last one, a coffee table book, some kitchen doodads, a bunch of birthday cards... None of it necessary, but all of it fun. She filled a cart too with a few little stone topped tables and a lamp among other things. she inspired me with the birthday cards. They're so cute and so inexpensive there compared to Hallmark or the drugstore. She set a goal for herself this year to send birthday cards to everyone whose birthday she knows. She said it's been a lot of fun and people seem to be thrilled because nobody gets fun mail anymore. Maybe I'll do the same...
It's been hot here in the high 80s. Today, I drove down to the nursery in the next town (only tourist shops here, remember!) I'm got a plant to replace one of the new ones that's already died. So not a super exciting day, but not a bad one either! I desperately need to go to the grocery store, but it's pretty much the last thing I want to do right now...
Take care all!
Greetings all
Mixed day here. No rain but it is windy. I am dawdling about. Decided I MUST pick up my desk and put away clothes and other chores before I go anywhere. If I leave it until later in the day it will just not happen. Clothes are already done. Desk beckons.
I am enjoying Paula's exploits in Door county. Love the dresses. Shopping for cute stuff - what a concept!!
So shout out to all Mothers! Enjoy your day. When I was in high school I worked at KFC. Mother's day was the biggest business day of the year. July 4 was second.
So we watched more of the second series of Pokerface last night. There is banjo music in parts of it with our nephew playing it. And the banjo is an old but fine one that belonged to DH's dad. He used to play it on a local tv show. It has been restored. Nice for it to have a new life. DH's family is all very musical. Truly gifted.
Yay for all of you *****ceived flowers. Yep flowers rock. Everything is blooming around here. Reminds me to get busy with the deck garden.
I found a recipe for roasted cherry tomatoes I might try. Olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Looks good. Something to do with this giant vat of cherry tomatoes I purchased on impulse.
DD what a load of fun events for you. Wish I knew the magic words to make your parents change their living arrangement. In the case of my mother, we had help from one of her PHD students who told her it would be better for her to choose her own living arrangements now rather than wait until she took a fall (which was inevitable due to Parkinson's and her house of stairs) and then get forced into a horrible nursing home. Kim really leaned (and exaggerated) for which I am grateful because it needed to happen. She and Pat packed a few bags and just left the whole house behind and it turned out well. My mother was a hoarder as well so it sat there but it was all ok. Wishing you the best on all this.
Yoo Hoo CC!!
Wishing you all Mexican food this week.

Lots in this post. First is that your DH is an absolute gem (you know that).
Sounds like a great weekend! You have done as much for your Mom as you can - she needs to accept help at some point.
Unfortunately Boston/New England is very unpredictable in the spring which is why we are staying here as long as possible. It may be getting warmer and more humid here but at least we don't have that cold dampness.

Argh, sending flowers is always fraught, will they arrive, what will they look like? One time I was in charge of sending flowers for our department to one of our deans who was very sick. She sent me a picture of the flowers and they were terrible. I had them replaced gratis, and she sent a picture of the next bouquet and asked, Did you use your teacher's voice? Haha, maybe. But I see on Facebook your flowers did arrive and they are beautiful.
I do love cut flowers. It's a beautiful luxury. Over the years, DH has picked up his floral game, and now has a preferred florist. We all have our preferences in life, and I love that my man has proper suits for special occasions even though he didn't need them for work, and he has a florist. :)
We had a lovely and busy day yesterday. We went to a sweet brewery on a river for a birthday party. 37th birthday of a young man we've known since he was 5. He's married now with a darling wife and little on year old. His Dad is DHs best friend and our chosen family. We left the party in Minneapolis, and drove home, got dressed for the Opera and headed out to St. Paul, where we had dinner at one of the best French restaurants in the Twin Cities. I've had a drink there, but never dinner. It was lovely. The Opera, The Barber Seville was delightful very funny, while having amazing music.
Tonight we will go to dinner at the chosen family's matriarch's home for dinner. A nice end to the weekend.
I struggled with some guilt about not going to see my own Mom this weekend, but there was so much going on. I called her this morning, and she cried and told me about all the struggles. And the struggles are real. Also, many of them could be reduced by spending some money. So I'm going to try and keep kindly offering this message. You need to hire some help, or move to assisted living. My Dad is 87 years old, and he can't keep up with all the caregiving duties for a disabled person. My brothers family is going to visit today, so I no longer feel guilty.
I will see both my kids next week in Boston, along with DSs lovely girlfriend. Sadly the weather forecast looks cold and damp. So much for pretty sun dresses. I broke my Amazon fast and ordered a dress with 3/4 sleeves. It arrives tomorrow. Hopefully it works. I do have other long sleeve dresses, but they're more winter colors, and I wanted spring hues.
The weather here is lovely yet again, so porch time commences.
119.8 - back up the pound I was down yesterday
Happy Mother's Day to all who have been a mother to some being (human, pet, etc). Always a bittersweet day remembering Elise who made me a mother when I was only 17. I met a woman the other night who confided that they had lost their only son suddenly a few months ago at the age of 33. Made me remember the extreme heartache of those early days of mourning. I refused to "celebrate" the Mother's Day immediately after Elise's death.
We hope Moby is home. Last we heard he was being dropped off quite late (around 11 pm). Apparently they hit a lot of traffic. Hopefully we will get an update this morning. ETA: Just got a note that Moby arrived home at 10 last night and was very excited to see his parents. What a relief as we felt responsible for making sure he got there safely.
I did some stuff around the house yesterday like starting the painting of the second nightstand in our bedroom. It is a 4 day process for each piece. There is one more piece after this one. I got some really cute starfish knobs from Amazon for them. Will post a picture once I get them on. In the afternoon we went to our outdoor music place and listened to a good blues band, then had an early dinner at the Mexican place again. Fresh guacamole and fajitas were quite enjoyable - very fresh.
Today we possibly will meet DH's friend who cancelled yesterday. DH had said yesterday was 50/50 that he would actually come and today it is 40/60 since the friend can extend his sickness from yesterday. And there is a possibility that he really is sick but who knows? No idea what we will do for dinner - somewhat depends on that. I didn't want to do the Mother's Day Brunch here since none of my kids are here and I am not a big fan of brunch anyway. Reminds me that DD said flowers were supposed to come a couple of days ago but still haven't arrived, though they were supposed to come between Friday and today. Last time she sent flowers here they came a day late and sat outside for 2 days because we had gone away.
Beautiful sunrise this morning. Justice was nudgy and got us up early. Have a super Sunday!

We had started watching the first season of Poker Face but got distracted. We will have to revisit it this summer after we finish watching the regular network shows. Very cool that your nephew scored the music!

Greetings all
Sunny and windy here. I got going fairly early for this late camper and did my walking. Good thing there is a lot of Prince music that I have not heard yet. Then I went to the studio and made some new slugs. There is a spring sale going on there but I heard it is not going well. Again. when the weather is nice people are doing something else.
So last night we watched the first episode of the second season of Poker Face. Fun show. Looking forward to the rest of the season because our nephew scored the music for the show. He did some of the first season. So if you watch, check the credits for Judson Crane. His younger brother is the one with the new baby.
So the postal people picked up the bag of tuna and such that we put out for the food bank drive. They get 20,000 pounds of stuff. CAn't imagine schlepping all that but glad someone does.
So Moby must be home by now and glad. Justice can relax. Enjoy the rest of Florida Liz.
Ocean Diane, sorry you had a negative experience with on line dating. Don't blame you for backing away but I do know quite a few people who have done well with it. Hugs to you and Sadie.
Dinner last night was Mexican leftovers that DH brought home. There is still quiche for tonight. One of my discount grocery purchase was a large package of tiny tomatoes. All colors. What a filling food! Who knew?
DH is on a laundry marathon. He waits until he does not have one more thing and then binges washes. Oh well.
Happy birthday to Lavender Paula! Cake?
There is a new book out by Dr. David Kessler on weight and dieting. Forgot the name already but it might be worth a read. He wrote "The End of Overeating" which I recommend. More of an indictment of the food industry.
The dogs are basking in the sun. Life is good.
