LOL at your DHs description of the old guy uniform. It's been a thing for decades. Anytime DFIL went to the mall, dinner at your house, etc he added a blue sports coat to his ensemble. Although DH never wears it, the blue sports coat hangs in his closet in memory of his Dad.

Miss150, I feel your pain at the loss of a longtime reliable appliance. A new washer and dryer is in my future someday. I'm hoping we can nurse them along to 40 years, 37 and counting!

Pub Night is at our area Art Center. Last night's trio was a mixed bag. The fiddle player was outstanding. He is in the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame, so he is a local name. His partners aren't at his level, but it was enjoyable. 5 minute drive, home by 9:15pm.

I am having the kind of day I long for. Playing hookey. I checked work email, and there are no fires to put out. Slept until 8:30am, drinking tea, watching a local talk show called The Jason Show. At 2pm, we will go downtown, and check into our hotel. Then we'll walk to the restaurant, and following that, a Christmas Concert we see every year. Then of course, back to the hotel. My only snafu is deciding whether I could walk in small heels several blocks, or if should stick to lower heeled boots.

Besides our big night out, no other weekend plans, which is perfect after last week's busy schedule. Feeling grounded, centered, and happy.

135.0

Just made the 2nd world's most terrible pot of coffee, ever! The first was 42 years ago when trying to conquer a top of the stove aluminum frankenperker-pot. So bummed and I'm sad to think of ditching my vintage 50's GE potbelly. Looks likely Kurt will be getting the coffee maker ( no doubt a counter-top-space-guzzling eye sore ) of his dreams. Function over form, in this case, is the tastier road. Any suggestions welcome.....

All holiday home picture's and stories so fun to be seeing....what fun! Almost done...Same decorations + new environment = lots of how, where, what to put out/up/what..what..of it. Lots of options to consider.

Out and about today with time spent setting up for Church Cookie Bazaar tomorrow...then avoiding as many shopping stops as possible (hate-hate crowds and lines) before home and some making/baking of my own. Strange how I "forget" every year that I justify all the goodies accumulated/made over holidays as treats for others when the truth is...a fair amount will find its tasty way to yours truly.

Mindful consumption hopefully will mitigate potential end of year's scale reading; need to remember starting 2025 with maintenance as my resolution (instead of dreaming of some massive weight loss) is a joy no tasty overindulgence can match......

it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

118.2

DH's stress test seemed to go well. He didn't have any difficulties. On Tuesday he has an echocardiogram. Hopefully it will look as good as a year ago so that we can stop worrying so much and just get on with life. I got him a Fitbit for Christmas so he can monitor his heart rate. He doesn't like Apple Watches so I thought this would be the next best thing.

We went to a Christmas party at the clubhouse last night. I wore a velvet dress which I bought 6 years ago for a wedding. DH said I was too dressed up but when we got there most of the women were similarly dressed. The men had on what DH described as an old man uniform: navy sport coat and khaki slacks with a dress shirt but no tie. Fun to dress up like that. I brought several of my really dressy clothes from up north to here because I never wear them there anymore.

I don't know what the plan is for today - possibly the beach club? DH plans everyone else's visits day by day but not for his sisters. But they are fairly good at finding things to do in their own here.

Justice needs a long walk since he didn't get one yesterday. Have a fantastic Friday!

So glad the earthquake didn't damage much. Does appear that some officials need to come up with an effective evacuation plan. Remember Lahaina with their lack of a plan?

You have a lot more energy than I did in my last work years. I never went anywhere out on a work night. Of course I got up at 4:30 am then.

I hope you enjoyed as much time in the sun as possible - as you said, it may not be there for long.

I don't get the ice fishing either. I used to tell DH if you ever need some time away from me, you don't have to go sit in a shack. Just tell me and I will go shopping :) My Aunt and Uncle used to spend the night in their ice house on a lake in the middle of nowhere up north. My Auntie said she loved listening to the ice expanding and contracting all night. I guess if you're a wilderness/ nature person, that could be appealing. It intrigued me, but not enough to actually sleep in a little house on the ice in the dead of winter.

Greetings from Earthquake land

I went to the gym and drove through our little town and everything looks ok. This was kind of a rolling quake so it may be that there is not that much damage. All the freeways and main roads were jammed as people went to get kids out of school or were trying to leave the tsunami zone. The thing is, the freeway runs right along the bay and is in the danger zone so it's the worst place to be. I expect some local "shake up" about the lack or disaster evacuation planning. There is one little community right on the ocean bay peninsula that has a plan for everyone to go stand on the highest sand dune. Does not sound like much of a plan to me. There are little tsunami zone signs here but they are so cute that people steal them.

Anyway I did my walking. Tomorrow is a gallery day.

Liz I hope your DH stress test goes well. No fun.

DD ice fishing is a sport that has always puzzled me. Why build a little cabin to put on a frozen lake? Can't one get enough fishing done in the summer? Guess I am a fellow blasphemer. I sure hope it gets warmer there and you can indulge in flip flops or at least something other than snow boots.

CC don't feel guilty about relaxing in the yard. It's the purpose of life. That and having dogs.

Speaking of dogs, Tesla is having major fart episodes. Anybody have a clue what to do? No food changes have occurred.

Over and out from earthquake/dog fart central. Diane S

CC is killing me with the flip flops! I want to wear flip flops! Well to be more specific, Tevas, because flip flops don't give me enough arch support.

Liz, let us know how DH's stress test goes. Hope the weather is not too bitter as you head to Massachusetts.

Diane, good you don't have any apparent damage. I sometimes muse about which is scarier, tornados or earthquakes. With tornados, you generally have some warning, but not always. You can take shelter, but again, not always... Earthquakes come out of nowhere, and literally rock your world... I would prefer neither.

Where is Ann off to?

Tonight we have our Pub Night tickets. Just the husband friend is meeting us tonight, as wife friend is out of town for work. Some music will be lovely.

One of my work besties who is using Wegovy has a lump on her neck. She had an ultrasound, and now they want to do a biopsy. I'm worried. Her biopsy is tomorrow morning. I hope she gets the results quickly.

It's so cold today, BUT a warm up arrives soon, and next week it seems might be warmer than average temps. Fine with me, I don't care if it snows or if the lakes freeze enough for ice fishing. But I keep these thoughts to myself, as many Minnesotans have passionate opinions on these subjects.
