Another full day coming up. I have to drive to my former area an hour away for my physical this morning, then come back, pack, and go back to that area this afternoon to stay at the hotel there for 2 nights. We are bringing Justice but he seems a little off this morning. I hope it is just a short-lived thing. He has been eating fine but has been missing his long walks as the weather has not cooperated. Hopefully he can get one this morning while I am at my appointment.
Tonight we are going with DS and SIL to a local restaurant we like for Meatloaf Monday, then we are going to a light display at the nearby Garden and Museums. We went to it last year and really enjoyed it. Will have to dress warm though.
Time to get clothes in the wash and me in the shower. Have a mistletoe Monday!

Justice wasn't allowed at the last hotel near DH's family (and there weren't any other options nearby), but he has stayed at their home previously when we went away. He will be with us at the next 2 hotels and coming with us on Christmas Day.

Diane S, I echo others' comments about your widower friend's holiday plan to honor his mate's memory. I worry for anyone who loses their mate, but maybe more for men. It sounds like he has a lot of courage to do it this way, and I admire him for it.

I'd like to double-ditto Paula's yoga recommendation. I'm such a fan and will forever be grateful for the wonderful yoga teacher I had for years in Missouri. Being on my yoga mat (whether prone, standing, or kneeling) is truly is one of my happy places! Now, if I can just find it somewhere in this house right now! ;)
And yes, I'm alive. More later.

Your new workout plan sounds great! I fully intend to start working out again after we get from Hawaii and if I get some workouts in before we leave, even better!
Seems like it is leveling hormones that need to be corrected for so many people! So happy that your DD has had so many positives.

Liz, I don't don't envy you the hotel weekend - especially if Justice is not allowed to be with you! I'm a dog friendly hotel type of guy and gladly forego nicer hotels for the ability to keep my dogs with me in the room! Your eating sounds great! It's the holidays and you are allowed to splurge. Besides half a donut is roughly 200 calories - not much in the greater scheme!
DD, so glad you have your DD home with you. Kudos to her on the weight loss since taking the tirzepatide. You are spot on about hormonal balance!!!! I do think these GLP1 meds are going to end up being metabolic game changers. Perhaps the "aspirin" of the 21st century. Congrats on the "bin shopping"! Equivalent of my closet shopping!!! LOVE IT!
Paula, so sorry your church outing was cut short. It is going to be wonderful to hopefully have some answers after the MRI. I do hope the solution can avoid major surgery. I understand your fear - especially since Vale and the boys aren't at home any longer! You've made a lovely new life with new DH, just as Liz has with hers.
Diane S., props to your departed friend's husband for honoring his love by carrying on her cherished tradition. That takes a lot of strength. I'm sure the day will be a mix of laughter and tears. I hope you are able to find comfort in the day.
Hope to hear how Ann's move is going and how Bonnie's first Christmas in her new home is coming together!
215 on the nose today. All is well on the food front. Yesterday's protein intake was lower than I'd like, but calories were still under 2k for the day. Today protein is the priority. 56 grams so far today.
Need to make some to do lists... Today I'm not worrying about getting stuff done, though. I trimmed a friend's Cairn and have puttered around doing a lot of nothing (e.g. I watched 2 Christmas Bewitched episodes from 1964 and 1966 while sipping early afternoon coffee!). Now it's time to hit the gym.
Speaking of gym. I did some research about cardio and fat loss and weight loss. Turns out cardio does NOT influence much loss for either UNLESS the cardio is paired with "energy restriction". The most effective method according to the two studies I read about is a combination of energy restriction + high protein diet + resistance training + light cardio. Least effective is adding cardio by itself. keep in mind these studies focused on FAT LOSS not cardiac and circulatory system health. Cardio exercise has benefits beyond fat loss. For me I want a lot of bang for my exercise bucks, so I will continue to stick to my high protein, lower calorie intake, weight lifting and begin to add cardio. I am going to start on that today. I will do a leg day followed by either treadmill or elliptical afterward. Wish me luck. I am not a cardio fan, though I have been able to build up some major cardio stamina in the past - especially post VSG!
Wishing everyone a super Sunday from a soggy, socked in Sunday in California! Yes, it's GRAY here.
DD has lost 51 pounds since June with trizepatide! She is hoping to switch to a prescription because her insurance will now pay for it. She is concerned though, that despite stating the shortage is over, it will be difficult to find the prescription doses. She is stocking up as much as she can afford to with the compounding pharmacy right now. It continues to help her endometriosis symptoms better than any other treatment she has had, including surgery. She said in her endometriosis support group, multiple people are taking it for the sole purpose of treating that disease, and not for weight loss. I am so, so, grateful that she is released from the agony she has endured. She said the last 2 months she did not need to take a sick day during her period. Previously, she often would be out 2 days, and needed big gun medications to make it through. Truly a miracle for her. And also more proof that weight gain isn't about will power or discipline. She didn't suddenly lose 50 pounds in 6 months because she suddenly has will power. She lost 50 pounds because her hormonal system is being treated with an effective medication.
Comfort food! Yes, 12.5 was difficult - I sort of guesstimated where it was. Much easier once I moved down to 10 units twice a week.

I agree, gathering for Christmas is a poignant way to honor your dear friend who has passed and the dear friend who must go on without her.
