144.who knows what. The digital scales want new batteries so am using Kurt's parents mechanical scales (circa 1950). Very accurate and consistent if used correctly- not shifting to skew the reading. Only reason I don't use it regularly is that the dial is a bit difficult to read. Built to last, for sure.
Took a while to catch up on posts...have I been missing that long? Looks like lots of great news...Way to go, Devon, with the scale weight...Slipping into the 1xxx's is a sure thing-no doubt about it! I think, like cholesterol, there is ok fat (called brown fat) and then there is the visceral fat (the chicken fat) which you do want to melt away.
Liz, so glad DD labs came out with no concerning issues. Praying those reproductive issues get balanced and regulated...she will feel so much better.
The days seem to be whizzing by so quickly as of late...so much small stuff occurring and I can't seem to catch up. Trying to remember to have some gratitude for being able to do this and that ...hopefully I will be one of those venerable, graceful older souls who will be able to continue doing right up to the end.
Smiles your way
Greetings all
It is sunny and bright today though not warm. Ok by me. I did my gym walk today to Tina Turner. So awesome. After that I spent some time at the studio. Studio buddy actually showed up for awhile. We checked out the new ceramic supply store that has moved in next door. All is good. The studio seems to be less busy when the weather is nice outside.
Yay Ocean Diane good to hear from you. Hoping you are storm and fire free. Glad your ex has moved along. Someone else's issue now.
And yay Liz for your DH and weigh****chers. Can't go wrong with those recipes.
Peps that newsletter sounds like a lot of work. But you have a skilled helper. Good on you for doing that work.
Well the plumber called and the installation of the water recirculator is delayed a few days. Oh well.
No clue what is for dinner tonight. Will think about it later.

I love that you have had a relaxing and enjoyable trip. Makes me want to go there.

I'm with DD - sometimes going out to eat early is a real plus. Smaller crowds (even if more than expected) and a relaxing evening afterwards.

During the work week I love eating out at 4pm on Friday, and being home, in my jammies, curled up on the couch by 6pm :)

Congratulations to Liz's DH and his WW success. That's some good work.
Ocean Diane, I too hope former husband has fully moved on. Hopefully the crazy storms aren't causing flooding in your area.
Peps, I feel such a desire to get in my garage and start purging (still too cold to do it yet). I hope I can keep my mojo going when I actually get started. There is so much to do.
Yesterday we went to a little cafe around the corner from our hotel and had sandwiches. It was very charming with couches, board games for loan, and several people were playing chess. It started storming, and there were tornado warnings, but nothing but rain in Memphis.
The storm continued all night, with explosive thunder. It rained so hard the windows in our room leaked.
Memphis is definitely more gritty than Nashville, but I like the music scene here a little more. Probably because blues, rhythm and blues, and jazz are my favorites. There is a lot of cross over with country, so Nashville has great music too, but it feels a little more commercial. There's an authenticity to what we've heard on Beale Street that's very pleasing to me. The city is rough though. We're just a few blocks from the entertainment section, and surrounded by empty buildings. One next to us is a beautiful art deco high rise. I can't imagine how much it would cost to rehab, and it's so big, what could it even be used for. But it would be a shame to see it be taken down.Across from us is an empty 4 story, it's less remarkable. On the other side is another vacant building. 2 blocks away is a shopping district with the cute lights and cafes and a pretty park with a charming fountain. So the downtown is a real mixed bag.
Still raining this morning, so we got an Uber, and hit the next tourist attraction we had on our list. Today we toured Sun Studios. It's amazing all the big names that got started there. They still have recording sessions in the evening because musicians want to get the Sun sound. At the end of the tour they bring out the microphone they used in the 50s, used by Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison etc. They said when Mick Jagger was there, he kissed it.
We had lunch at The Peabody Hotel, and it would definitely be the premier place to stay in Memphis. I was chatting with a nice salesperson in their boutique, and she said Priscilla Presley stays there when she is in Memphis.
We are back at the hotel, and will head to Beale Street if it's not pouring rain. We leave tomorrow. It's been a relaxing trip, and I would come back.
126.8 again on Mom's scale. We will have to see what the home scale reads tomorrow.
Made it back home around 2 and DH and I went out for an early dinner around 4. I was surprised how many people were eating that early. We went for a fish fry a day early to avoid the Lent crowd on Fridays!
Missing my workouts! I didn't exercise last weekend due to guests and the shower, got one day in on Monday and then none for the rest of this week so far due to travel. Will for sure hit the treadmill tomorrow!
The puppies missed me! Both are bookending me on the couch right now!
Yay for Mike! If you have time, could you post the chicken Marsala recipe?
