Might be good to go in and air it out (do your windows open? I'm thinking back to my CA schools -maybe yours don't) just to get some of the new paint/new carpet smell out?
I did have a new sag appear in my jawline this spring. Is it Ozempic Face or just normal aging. Not gonna lie, facial fillers sound intriguing. I don't see getting a facelift unless I want to give up traveling for a a set amount of time. There's x amount of money to spend, and I'm going to choose trips. :)
I did a good job of working out post surgery because I was very concerned about muscle loss and damaging my metabolism. Once I got past the first 2 months, I started to feel great as my body was really using my fat for fuel, and the low calories weren't leaving me lackluster. I had a rich and bountiful source of energy with me at all times. :) This time around, I can feel that my body does not switch to fat burning with any ease. If I burn up a lot of glycogen, I get shaky instead of tapping the fat. I'm blaming it on Tamoxifen interfering with the process. I probably have damaged my metabolism. I'm not going to lose weight without low calories. That's why I decided to stop pursuing weight loss even though I definitely have body fat to burn. Time to do what I can to heal my metabolism and maximize health.
I love these discussions and the research you share! Knowledge is power. I feel like we are a very well informed group that is always curious and ready to look at new information. TT is irreplaceable :)
Hey, as you all know I get my knickers in a knot, panties in a bunch, etc... about muscle loss, lowered BMR, etc...
These articles are easy reads and may serve as good reminders and incentive to work to keep quality calories higher during weight loss:
5 Ways Restricting Calories Can Be Harmful
I am completely sympathetic to the loss of appetite on semaglutide or tirzepatide. Been there!!!! But I have pushed, pushed, pushed myself to make sure I eat enough to maintain body function without cannibalizing my muscle tissue. I think this is something we have to be really aware of when using these weight loss drugs. If we are not, I believe we are just creating the perfect storm for regain.
I'm down almost 2 pounds since weighing on Wednesday morning. I believe this number is a new low on this current journey down, but I'm not absolutely certain. Anyhow... must be that I was holding on to some water from travel and sitting in the car and/or from the salty prepared foods I ate on the road.
Yesterday's workout, though not super tough is already being felt in my glutes! Only 60 squats, but done on a flipped over Bosu Ball after a 2+ week break gave my muscles a little something about which to comment! LOL! I did a full body workout, which is just what was needed. I felt good when I was all done.
Got a Costco run in last night after exercise. I bought cantaloupe which I have had a hankering for since it came up in the book I'm listening to. Funny how a description of a melon by an author can trigger a want. I also got some berries and organic Honey Crisp apples. I am seriously focusing on getting more whole fruits into my food routine. The documentary I mentioned yesterday really did slap me upside the head about well rounded nutrition.
Have to groom a little old Norwich Terrier later this morning, have an appt. with the nutritionist this afternoon, and a visit and dinner with BFF tonight. I guess that's a pretty full day.
Toodles!
Liz, I feel great that you think I'm doing a good job with exercise because you are my hero. You are much more disciplined then me: you rise early, and immediately get your daily exercise done! I'm often in my jammies still at 9am. You make a to do list and tackle it instead of talking about it like I do. I'm sure if you decide to add strength training you will rock it.
And speaking of heroes I am always in awe of how you and CC can fix and repair things. Not my skill set. Whenever DH travels, I live in fear that something will happen with the internet and I won't be able to figure it out. But if you want to talk about the power of figurative language in the short story The Scarlet Ibis, I'm your gal.
Peps, thinking about you starting school. I vacillate between trying to guard every moment of the two weeks I have left from thoughts of school, to wishing I could just get started to get it over with. My last day will be June 13th. I am probably going to go in before school starts to set up my room since it was painted and new carpet is being installed as we speak.
No big plans today. Its sunny, but cool, actually too cool to be comfortable on the porch. Tomorrow the high is supposed to be 73. We are going to the Irish Fair. On Sunday we are driving out to my parents with our kayaks and will spend the night. Monday evening is the first night of our little town festival, and we will hang around for the parade before heading back to "the cities" as people outside of the metro area call it.
Weight staying very stable. I am content.
122.8 - the recorded weight for the week. Maintenance is going well so I am staying on 5 mg of tirzepatide for now. I don't want to throw myself in another direction (up).
I was thinking about Kirby's antics and had the realization that he is acting just like a teenager LOL. Another year or two and I bet he will be a very different sort. I can't believe Peps is back to school already. You start so early in southern states. Most school systems don't go bac****il after Labor Day in the Northeast, but they don't finish until the end of June. I'm kind of jealous that DD is doing so well with workouts. Time to get my butt in gear this fall. I did graduate from PT yesterday and the therapist cleared me for whatever I feel strong enough for. I still need to continue with my shoulder workouts but she said I have more strength and motion already than most of the reverse shoulder people she has worked with and I still have the potential to gain more in the next 7 months.
The big move is today: DS left about 20 minutes ago in the fully packed UHaul van. We hired two men to pack the van yesterday and they were absolutely fantastic. Strong, professional, and fast. Really a terrific decision - I arranged for them via the UHaul rental site. I will bring Justice to his fun place in about an hour or so after I take DH for breakfast. We won't have time for a real lunch so a protein based breakfast seems wise. DH has tended to eat things like muffins in the am without any protein and then complain about being starved or light-headed by lunchtime. He needs to get on the protein bandwagon. After we drop off Justice I need to load the plants and the last cat things in the car, then capture the cat and get her into her carrier. Should be an experience.
Onto Portland Maine! Have a fantastical Friday!

Great idea using Dexascans to measure your body. BMI just doesn't cut it unless someone is fully average which no one really is. I had one the year after VSG and found it quite useful but I'd be afraid to compare that one to what it might look like now after 7 years including a year of nothing but walking and having my shoulder replaced.

Yikes to the bear!!! Feels like the bear needs to be removed from the neighborhood and relocated. Bears are awesome, but don't mix well with residential areas.
My Grandma lived in Duluth proper. The fog would roll in from Lake Superior, and the temp would drop. Meanwhile, at my Aunt's house "on the other side of the hill" it was 82 and sunny. Always intrigued me when I was a kid.
