I also read Wicked, and liked some parts, but overall it left me with a bad after taste. So I doubled down and read the sequel Son of a Witch, which was even darker and more disturbing. The musical for me, stands apart from the book. I expect very little from plots in musicals, although some are great, like Les Miz. If they can tie together some smashing musical numbers, I'm satisfied, so I do enjoy Wicked, The Musical. With the exception of Something Bad is Happening in Oz, I hate that number. I am also annoyed when they pull Fiero out of the floorboards at the end. But its worth it to me to see No One Mourns the Wicked, Popular, and Defying Gravity. I thought the musical was fine, and Ariana Grande was outstanding, but I prefer seeing it live.

Further reviews, DD and DH really enjoyed Nesferatu. They are now quoting the line, She'll rave all night; then rave she must! DD found the lead actress very compelling. She thought the movie could of pressed the freak even more, DH thought it was the right amount of freaky. They both liked the cinematography, and didn't find the lighting an isdue. DD in fact thought they did a skillful job of lighting night scenes. They both thought I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it, because of some of the violence, which DD said could be gross, and weird body bending, which for some reason skeeves me out. (One time we were watching a version of Macbeth with Patrick Stewart, and the weird sisters did some crazy contortions, and it still gives me the ick when I think about it).

This morning we went for coffee, and now I am going to meet up with some current and former co-workers. Break is going by too quickly!

215.6 Up down, up down.... Need to focus a little more on protein, me thinks. Too much easy access to sweets since Christmas.

I have not gotten too much done this morning except a little dog club work and fixing a kitchen drawer. I must run to the tailor to take some pants in for hemming. I got some really nice sweats for lounging and working out, but I can't stand the ankle band. I cut the bands off and don't feel like hemming by hand. It's a pain! I'd rather pay to have it done nicely.

Glad you made it home, Liz. I do not envy you company immediately following your return.

My dad read me L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz as a child. By 5 I was in love with the 1939 MGM movie and watched it every Easter on TV. I'd even go to my friends' house because their family had a color TV. We did not. So, being a dyed in the wool Oz freak, I picked up Gregory Maguire's book in the late 90s and devoured it. It's worth the read. Here's a link to the paperback on Amazon: Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.

Must get on with my day and not waste the daylight hours!

Toodles!

Procrastinating the day here! I have projects and chores to do, but no gumption to do them. A dog walk is in order... Maybe more tomorrow!

Interestingly, he doesn't eat bad stuff! (Though he does chew on the soft sandstone rocks, so maybe he gets some of that in his stomach?). Fergus was a tremendous puker. Kirby is better, but still gets bouts of it. My dad's goldens only did when they ate "the unthinkable". He didn't throw up anything other than liquid and some treat remnants. I stopped all non-kibble treats and last night was good. Who knows!

118.8 even after weird travel eating. But I did eat high protein/healthy for breakfast and lunch. And couldn't eat much of the pizza last night.

We got home at 8:30 last night. Only 1.5 hours later than plan. But we were exhausted partially because we had a 2 hour drive to the airport on the front-end and 1.5 hours after the flight, both ends being through drizzly rain. Yuck! I got a credit card from Breeze airlines to build points since they fly direct from our local airport. We can't avoid the long drive on that end but we can here. We are feeling done with the Orlando drive though we have to do it again in a couple of weeks to stay with grandchildren for a few days while their Mom travels on business.

It is so good to be home! So much more comfortable and homey for me here. I was missing my Cape house a lot, especially the sunroom where I had my big tree and my gas fireplace. That was my happy place.

We have company arriving this afternoon for 2 nights. This is the 3rd year we have hosted them on their way to their rental in the Keys. The husband is DH's longest term friend (since they were toddlers) and the wife was a classmate of DH. Nice people though they eat a little differently than we do. They used to be completely vegan though they loosened up a bit a few years ago to include some dairy and fish. The husband has had some physical issues impairing his digestive abilities and he wasn't getting enough nutrients from a vegan diet. So fish we can do!

But first a long Justice walk, then water aerobics. Have a Merry Monday!

Wow! Even more rodent stories! I sure hope the stinky stuff back in my car works for the rest of the winter.

I never got the women at the gym with full makeup on. But of course if I am really working at all I sweat like crazy. Makeup trails down the face would not be a good look (and would sure mess up the towel). Sounds like your walking is strengthening you if going up a bit doesn't feel more difficult?

Must have been an interesting speaker. And what a thoughtful gift from Vale.

Darned destructive rodents are everywhere!

You are so right! We keep working on ourselves - this is our therapy group in a way. We share our ups and downs which helps each of us find ways to get better when we need it.
