Sadly, Red Lobster was a disappointment tonight. Ordered grilled shrimp and scallop skewers and the scallops were awful and the shrimp dry and over cooked.
You have to experience a Door County fish boil at least once but in my opinion the only part worth eating is the boiled potatoes and of course the cherry pie! If you do venture to Door County again, I highly recommend Alexander's. I actually had the best seafood I've ever eaten there!
Amen to your best-ever present to the nephew. YOU GAVE THEM A BABY!

Ditto, Lizanne. DM me for my contact info if you'd like to visit.
For me, grieving was a long, long process. One thing that was so helpful to me was finding a widows/widowers FB group that was exactly the kind of group that matched my needs. There are so many varieties--religious, non-religious, widows and/or widowers, spouses/partners of people who committed suicide, etc. etc. etc. Whatever vibe you're looking for or need, there's at least one great group out there for you.
One of the things I loved about the group I joined was that I didn't know a single soul in that group. That allowed me to be completely unfiltered and receive sincere feedback, whether it was agreement or "here's another way to look at it."
As I'm sure you've read and sensed, there is no right way to grieve or any proper timeline or schedule. Anyone who says you're doing it wrong needs to go jump off a cliff.

Greetings all
Busy day by my minimal standards. Scrabble this morning where I defeated The Shark but lost the other two. Then on to the studio to do a little intermediate work on some items in process. Had a good talk with another gallery member about our meeting tonight. After that I stopped at the gym and did some walking. No anorexics in sight and not many people. The amount I do is abysmally small but I can foresee upping what I do in very small increments.
So we had a nice dinner last night at the restaurant with the great view. Super good meal of steak bites on a skewer with a great sauce. Will get that again. But here is the best part of birthday: got a text from nephew asking if he could call with birthday wishes. Sure. So he calls and the real news is that they are expecting a baby! This is the nephew who, with his wife, had been going through infertility and IVF treatment and were able to proceed with this last round because of the money I gave them. So it's all good! Best birthday gift ever. Entire family does not know yet. Tee Hee and Yay,.
Liz wedding countdown! Hope your DD finger gets better fast. Ice Ice Ice. Lordy have you got a lot to do in the next few weeks!
Lizanne we are so glad you checked in. What a blessing to have DD available for so many days. Wishing you some peaceful days.
Yay peps shopping in your own closet! Keep it up. How fun to find stuff too big! We just dumped cable tv for youtube. I am still learning how to work it since we always had it with the TIVO. And agreed, plan retirement without using savings for support. Thats what I did. I am now being forced to take out 401k money and it feels like free money.
Gallery meeting tonight. We have a ton of stuff to get through and i hope our president can keep discussion on track to get through large agenda. Must restrain myself from homicidal impulses when discussion is hijacked by trivial concerns. I won't drink any wine during meeting.
Not much else. Mucho leftovers from last nights dinner out so saved from cooking.
Cheers. Diane S
Good Seafood is hard to come by in this part of the country, although I do like white fish from the Great Lakes. I've been to one fish boil in my life (in Door County). I prefer my white fish in fish and chips form :)
Liz I remember years ago the challenge we faced trying to throw out a trash can. I think we did resort to a note eventually. Good luck!
My days during the work week are uneventful this month. I go to work, come home, putter around a bit, go to bed, get up and do it again. Blissfully uneventful for now. On the horizon, a birthday party for a longtime friend on Saturday, and more theater on Sunday. Next weekend we visit DS in Madison. I don't know if we will meet the new girlfriend yet. All in good time.
It's stressful and exciting. We have similar plans. We think we can live our normal life on pension and social security. Other IRAs and 401K and 401B are for travel or splurges. We're looking for other ways to cut a little each month too. The 3 freeloaders on our family cell plan (DD, DS and DM) might have to kick in a bit. I'm always campaigning to get rid of cable. And for some inexplicable reason we still have a land line! I also believe you either pay with your money or your time. Right now, the choice sometimes has to be money, because the time just isn't available. That could change.
So happy for you to hit 50 pounds lost. That's an amazing amount of change in a relatively short amount of time!
