That would be bioelectrical impedance testing they did at your gym. Similar technology to the home scales that measure body composition. I know hydration can affect those results.

My Master?s is in Clinical Exercise Physiology and we did hydrostatic weighing (under water) in college. If you have a University that has a health sciences program near by, you may be able to have it done there. A quick Google search for Kentucky also showed me this - In Kentucky, you can get a DEXA scan for body fat analysis at centers like DexaFit in Louisville, Your Body Goal in Louisville, and Fitnescity in Lexington.

Years ago I had a dexa scan (I think Peps had one recently) because I read that it was the only truly accurate test. It provided body fat percentage, muscle percentage and also bone density which is helpful for us older folks. My impression is that all the others just give estimates. As I recall the information provided also compared me with what the "normal" percentages were based on my sex/age which was quite helpful.

Peps, I'm researching home scales that measure not just weight, but fat, muscle, water, and bone percentages.

Do you have any knowledge or opinions on this topic you would like to share?

Liz, your Valentine's table was enchanting. What a beautiful evening you created.

Diane, pink roses seem so fitting. I hope they are filling your house with sweet fragrance!

Paula, good for you for keeping a date night boundary for you and DH. There are just no easy solutions for DCs anxiety and mental health issues. You clearly are diligent seeking support and help for them. You are a very good Mom.

Ann has me thinking about a new kind of red wine I've never explored.

Years ago, my baby cousin got married. Her other grandma was in her 90s. I was visiting with her after the wedding g, and she told me, I drank red wine for the first time last night. I found out I liked red wine! And I thought, Thank you Grandma Grace for showing me that even if I live to be 90, life will still hold new pleasures. Here's to finding those new pleasures everyone !

(clearly the sun and heat are doing me good )

A really nice muse about the wine. Looks like today will be another warm sunny one as long as you are out of the wind.

131 even! One stinking pound from goal! Yay! I really should have a range. Maybe I'll make it 125-130 or 128-132!

Asian pork lettuce wraps for dinner tonight. Quick and easy and relatively healthy. Both DH and DC1 love them.

DC1 seems to be in better spirits. They said they may go out to the gay bar tonight since they feel they should see some friends!

Happy Birthday Peps! A milestone one at that, correct?

DD, so happy you are in warm climes and enjoying pool time and relaxation! Hope you have a wonderful dinner out!

Ann, dinner party and your wine sounds good. I looked up the wine too but can't do dry ones. Semi dry is okay for me though. My favorite is a good Reisling. Hard to not be a bit of a food snob when you live with a chef!

Liz, your Valentines dinner table looked spectacular. I love how social you and DH are. Hoping for more of that once DH retires!

CC, did the Mexican leftovers reheat well? I think mine usually do if I order a plate of something but more often than not I just get 1 a la carte chicken taco and eat a few chips! The benefit and curse of being on these meds!

Diane, I think you are the treadmill queen! Your consistency is truly impressive!

After VSG I had a goal of 125 at which point I started trying to figure out maintenance. My body just settled into a place where it was fairly easy to pick a range where I didn't want to go lower than a certain number or higher than another. I upped the range a bit after the first regain, but seem to settle close to the same spot. Having a range keeps me from getting too nervous in maintenance even though I don't like it when I am in the higher portion.
