118.4 - official weight for the week. I was just looking at my weight over the years spreadsheet with weights from 1990 until now (35 years!). The early years are my annual weights at my doctor. Interesting to see that I had 2 hover points repeated in between diets: one around 150, about where I was before this recent loss and the other at where I am now after VSG. I was lower for the year just after the VSG loss, but that was definitely too thin. But the 5 years prior to VSG were nasty, going up and up until I reached 219!

Yesterday was good. Golf was pleasant since the weather was finally nice. No way will I golf more at least until I can hit the ball more consistently. I need a lot more confidence in my ability to actually hit the ball vs the ground or air. We went to the beach club afterwards for a few hours for the first time in almost a month.

Today the plan is to walk, gentle yoga class, beach club again, then possibly Happy Hour. Need to figure out something for dinner at home as we are out for dinner both Saturday and Sunday with friends.

Have a fantabulous Friday!

132.9. Still not eating much. Will skip my dose on Sunday as well.

Feeling just a little better but still very sick. I half think I may have strep throat on top of Covid with how bad my throat hurts, I just don't have it in me to go and get swabbed.

Thankful for the soup my friend brought over but what an odd presentation. It was chicken noodle soup but with whole chicken legs on top. How do you eat that? I ended up taking the legs out, removing the meat and putting it back in the soup. I can't stomach chicken skin (especially if not crunchy) so this was a must. A quick Google search showed that whole leg chicken noodle soup is indeed a thing. Who knew?

I can only stay up for a few hours before going back to bed. It's calling for me now!

Do you have enough in you to try an online visit? Maybe based on your symptoms you could get a prescription for streph? I know that feeling where you're too sick to actually get care, but it's worrisome if it is streph. DH got Scarlet Fever from streph run amuck and he was sick for a long time.

I'm starting to improve little by little and I really didn't have the high fevers associated with Strep. I'm keeping an eye on strep complications like rash etc.

126.4

Liz, that's interesting weight data. Thanks for sharing. My weight swings were a bit more dramatic than yours, but were definitely associated with life stresses (especially caregiving), lots of severe dieting (from skinny to fat to moderate to overweight, etc.). Since VSG my weight range was pretty stable around 135-140 except during Covid (2020-2022) that crept up to 150-170, and now I'm about 5-8 pounds lower (126-130) than my post-VSG range. I'm really hoping to stay in this range, which I think I can maintain, given our current lifestyle. Nonetheless, I know that life stresses are the big triggers for my weight gains. Maybe I could get a group rate from Peps's therapist.

Paula, I sure hope you start feeling better soon. Covid is strange in that it can present so very differently in different patients, even those in the same household who surely were bitten by the same variant. I'm hoping to avoid another bout with it this year. I'm someone who gets all the boosters for Covid, flu, pneumonia, RSV, and everything else old folks are supposed to be innoculated against. However, I don't know much about this latest variant.

Meant to say earlier that when I went to Costco earlier this week I bought not only Fairlife protein drinks (18 for $33.99) AND what looks to be a Costco/Kirkland competitor high-protein shake called "Orgain." It's a little cheaper (18 for @29.99) and has the same 30 grams of protein and only 10 calories more (160) than the Fairlife shakes have (150). I've tried them both since then, and I like them both. So there's $4.00 you can save if you're using the protein shakes.

Today I'm still hunting for door knobs and drawer pulls. I'm a bit cross-eyed at this point.

It's lovely outside--sunny and 59 degrees. Can't complain about that!

I get all the boosters and I'm pretty faithful about Vitamin D, which I just know helps with immune system. I work in a cesspool of germs but I've had a good run so far this year. No flu, no Covid, no colds, so maybe the immunizations help.

Yeah, I've been religious in getting Covid and Flu vaccines!

We have water falling from the sky today! Though I'm not a fan, it is much needed.

eFFing scale!

214.7 So NOT happy about that reading!

The consolation is that I just got my DEXA scan results from my appointment today. Almost every ounce of weight lost since December 10 has been FAT! I've lost 2.5 pounds of fat and only 0.2 pounds of lean body mass. So, in that respect I'm feeling good about progress. I'm at 32.2% body fat. Interesting thing is that my viseral adipose fat went up by 0.08 of a pound. I would have thought that the belly fat would go down proportionately to body fat. Boooooo....

The scale reading triggered some old tape/eating disorder thinking. I wanted to drastically cut calories and I mean drastically - like to the level of "post VSG I'm a 5' woman" level! LOL! I can remember feeling envious of those little ladies who could barely manage 300 calories right after VSG. I was lucky if I stayed under 700 that first week out! In 1980 I did the Cambridge diet and consumed only 330 calories per day. I lost A LOT of weight very quickly. I was in that thinking mode for several minutes this morning.

Probably a very good thing my scan was scheduled for today. Seeing the lean mass staying consistent while the fat mass became less was the dose of medicine I needed to reassure me I am on the right path.

CC, any word on transfer for dad yet? Paula, feeling any better yet?

The last of the winter decorations were boxed up and put away yesterday. The almond trees are blooming (which is not good with the rain) and the acacia trees are in full bloom. These two trees are always the first sign of spring in this area. I'm hoping for a late rainy season. Otherwise, we are back in drought mode. Boooooo!

Oh, when almond trees bloom is there a fragrance? Apple tree bloom is so nice, and I've smelled orange trees blooming when visiting Florida, to die for fragrance. I've never smelled almond though, or lemon. Remember the song, Lemon tree very pretty, and the lemon flower is sweet... I want to smell the sweet lemon tree :)
