I liked the early seasons of Only Murders in the Building better than the most recent one.

I also enjoy OMITB. I like the three detectives' chemistry.

Today has been tough. As I posted on Facebook, DD found out yesterday at 5pm that her job offer was rescinded. They were just finishing up the last of the paperwork in HR. She went to graduate school every Saturday for 3 years to train for this job and did a 3 month unpaid internship. It is her dream job, and she was so, so happy when they offered it to her. She would have been able to move to a better apartment, one without mice. The only saving grace is that she hadn't officially resigned her current position so she is not out on the street and keeps her insurance while she figures out her next move.
So this Executive Order of a hiring freeze kills the dreams of maybe thousands, maybe 10s of thousands. People who already quit their job, sold their house, moved before they realized their new job was rescinded. And this is not in the name of efficiency and curbing waste. Does anyone think the VA has too many doctors, nurses and therapists? Would anyone think the VA might need to hire more doctors, nurses and therapists in the next 3 months? They won't be able to, because the hiring freeze is a minimum of 91 days.
The homeless veterans who she would have got housed (she was quite successful at this during her internship) will have to wait that much longer to get off the streets. But maybe heartfelt exclamations of, thanks for your service, will keep them warm.
Again, DD is better off than some who thought they were starting new jobs, so we can be thankful for that. But God I hate to see her dream crushed, and so unnecessarily. I can't bear to think about what's coming next for some families.
I did get some good news on Monday about a trip I wasn't expecting. But I'm compartmentalizing for now, because I don't want to soil it with my current angry, mournful and pessimistic emotions. More to come.
Such a shame - certainly there are some government funded jobs that need to be reviewed/eliminated but a hiring freeze across ALL functions obviously isn't the way to do it. So sorry for your DD and for the homeless veterans she won't be able to help. Hopefully this dream job will open back up for her.

Greetings all
More sun today. No dog chase. I spent the morning doing banking stuff for the gallery - setting up record keeping for the new year and bank deposit. I had three things to do but only remembered two of them so I had to go pick up w2's from the accountant later in the day. Went to the gym and did my waddling. My legs hurt from the dog chase because several times I sat on the curb trying to get her to come to me which she eventually did. But standing up from curb is major effort. Need to do something other than treadmill to increase leg strength. Maybe slow but inclined treadmill.
Went to the studio and did some glazing for the Friday fire. Gossiped about last nights gallery meeting. There is one person who gets up and talks about everything. Last night she was thanking other committee members for what they had done and it was sort of like an Academy Awards speech. I was giggling. Might have some progress with our landlord- from - hell lease.
Ann its so cool that you already have new friends and a book club. And that good stuff is being read. I envision you with a book lounging in your leopard chair with a glass of wine. Claret.
Yep we love Murders in the Building. Thanks for the tip on No Good Deed.
Liz your poor SIL. Hope she can get some relief. Good to tell the kid to help out. Meanwhile stay warm. Sounds like icky time to be in FLA.
DD I feel your pain. The VA has been advertising on television for workers. I can see no benefit from hiring freeze especially for VA. Can't do enough for our vets. So sorry for Ali.
Peps as my mother declined she slept more and more. She would often go back to bed after a late breakfast. She had parkinson's but also some form of demential. But she was mostly peaceful and not agitated so that was good. Hope your dad is comfortable.
CC drought indeed! Rain and lack thereof has been bizarre.
More chili tonight and that should be the end. But it's pretty good if I say so myself.
Diane S
I could eat chili for a week and not get bored with it.
I think we all need To-Do lists at our age for errands. I keep a running shopping list and put the other errands at the top of it so I don't forget LOL.

Going to be a loooooooong day and a half of travel. Needed to check out of our condo by 10 this morning but flight doesn't leave until 9:00 pm. We have a layover in Denver and another one in Chicago before arriving to our little WI town after 3:00 tomorrow afternoon.
Think I will try and scrounge up some expensive airport grub, still have 3.5 hours before boarding! Praying I can sleep some on the plane!
I hope you make it back safely today and get sleep on the way. That's the downside of traveling so far. When we went to Hawaii we were able to take a 13 hour nonstop flight from Boston to Honolulu. I rarely sleep on flights so that was much easier for me to stand than our Tahiti flight which was like your flight home to WI.
