118.8

Hopefully I remember to submit this when I'm done LOL. Thank you for worrying about me Peps.

The wind is howling outside and the windows are being blasted with rain. I don't think we have seen anything like this other than a hurricane. The tennis tournament didn't happen at all yesterday so they are hoping this rain subsides by 10 so they can start the matches early. I'm glad we aren't volunteering at it today (we do it Friday and Saturday). I am so sick of being cold - we just don't have the clothing or the heating systems to really cope with day after day of this. It looks like next week may finally be warm and nice. I hope so!

We started watching No Good Deed last night. Reminds me of Dead to Me which I really enjoyed. In fact one of the actresses is the same.

SIL flies home today and hopefully sees her physician tomorrow. She just isn't in a good way. Her DS is picking her up on the other end and it would be good if he stayed over and took her to the doctor (1.5 hours away from her house in Boston). She probably won't ask though. Maybe I will send him a note...

Other than taking SIL to the airport I think we will be staying in for the rest of the day unless it clears up enough to take Justice for his long walk. With the weather the way it is now he refuses to go out even to pee.

Have a Warm Wednesday!

127.0 on the scale. Still hovering between 126-128 and trying to hammer down this new set point.

Happy Hump Day. At some point in the distant past that's what we called Wednesday, but I haven't heard that nickname in years.

Book Club last night was lovely. I've missed my Kentucky friends. We (six of us) are currently focused on Pulitzer prize winners. Last night's selection was "March" (yes, I know one doesn't put book titles in quotation marks, but I don't have access to italics here, so quotation marks it is). It's a book about Mr. March of "Little Women" (see above) and what happened to him after he went to war. It is an amazingly insightful book about so many issues, albeit a tough one to pick up sometimes because it's about some horrific events. Nonetheless, I recommend it highly.

Today I'll run some errands, shop for a little food, and snuggle up. Low here this morning was minus one degree Fahrenheit. There's a little sun, which makes it nicer than a lot of cloud cover.

That's all I got, folks. Hump it up!

Yikes! I think Kentucky might be colder than WI today! This sure is a crazy bit of weather!

I just heard Hump Day on the radio today, so the expression isn't obsolete!

Somehow I never thought of Kentucky getting that cold but it actually is kind of in the middle of the US so I shouldn't be surprised. Keep warm!

Thanks for the kind words about Berkeley, and sorry for any confusion between Lucky and Berkeley.

I am slowly admitting to myself that as much as I love the dry weather, we are heading towards a drought, so I am hoping we get some more rain soon. On my way to Santa Cruz on Monday I passed a reservoir that was over its banks in June. On Monday it looked to be only 3/4 full. Not good for the end of January. This is our rainy season and we haven't had much rain. I'm hoping that this mid winter dry spell means lots of late winter and spring rains.

213.3 this morning. Still going the right direction, but oh, so slowly. Though I was wiped out yesterday I did pull myself together and got to the gym. Always feels good when I'm done.

Liz, question for you: Yesterday my dad was asleep when I arrived at about 3:30 in the afternoon. He woke up while I was writing him a note. Usually he wakes up fairly quickly from his afternoon siesta, but not yesterday. He didn't want to visit but go back to sleep. Is that a common symptom in mid to late stage Alzheimer's? Did you see that in Paul?

Wednesday/Hump Day came very quickly this week for me. Makes me quite happy! LOL! This short timer would like to say, "4 months, 7 days!" But who's counting, right??? I AM!!!!

I think they are all different. Deceased DH did sleep more at one point (it reversed at the end) but not in the middle of the day (went to bed early). I think sometimes trying to cope with trying to understand what is going on around them gets very tiring.

Thanks! Yes, it does get tiring.

DH uses the term short termer! 'Bout the same. He should be done sometime in April provided he doesn't need to take vacation for any reason.

Definitely drought. When Pensacola, FL has gotten 3 times the amount of snow as Flagstaff, one of the snowiest cities in the country, you know it's a drought and a La Nina year! So far it's 92% below historical average. Everything is so dry.

I finally got my prescription straightened out. It wasn't a shortage, but a hiccup in their system allowing my savings card. When it couldn't reconcile the issue, it just was ignoring my prescription fill request. Grr. So we did the Costco run yesterday.

We're watching the 4th season of Only Murders in the Building. Such a cute show!!!

This afternoon I have my HOA board meeting, but that's all on the schedule. I think we're going out to dinner.

Take care all.
