119.2

Our friends arrived just after 2 yesterday so we had a very late lunch at around 3:30. Cheese and crackers for dinner, then early to bed. They said they are usually up at 5, but it is 7:30 now and we still haven't seen them. They were exhausted by their 2 day drive and we were still tired from our travel day.

The plan today is to go out for lunch, then to the woman-run cider brewery I like so much. We have NYE dinner reservations at 8 at the Beach Club so will probably have some Cavo (in lieu of champagne) after we dress up fancy and before we leave. Odds are we won't be up until midnight. Especially since our friends need to be on the road by 6 am.

I just checked my weight against a year ago and I am 35 pounds lighter. Thank you tirzepatide!

Have a Toasting Tuesday!

Love today's alliteration Liz! Hope you have a fun NYE with your friends,

141.3, exactly the same again. I've decided to go back to the 5 mg shot this coming Thursday and then take another 5 mg the following Wednesday before we leave for Hawaii (still holding out hope travel plans won't be thwarted). I'll skip a dose the second week in Hawaii and then let the scale dictate how to proceed once we get home.

Apps, wine, and charcuterie all purchased for tonight's festivities. DC1 bummed that they are not invited. I feel bad that they don't have friends of their own to hang with but we need our own social life too! I think they will end up going to the local gay bar that is sure to have a drag show tonight.

All that is left to do is some final house cleaning. I kept the inside Christmas decorations up since they are more festive. Will tear them down after tomorrow.

Happy New Year's TT! Love you all!

Propane repair guy is here fixing my latest leak. Homeownership is never ending!

We traditionally have lobster tails for New Years so I'll be making those tonight along with broccoli and twice baked potatoes.

Later today I have my hair appointment. And I think a dog walk in there somewhere.

I historically take down the decorations on New Years morning while watching the Rose Parade. I'll miss them - they looked pretty this year!

We are now back in a drought. No rain here in months and none forecast. Bummer! Though my folks are happy it's so very warm here this year. The average high temps this time of year should be in the 40s. It's been in the 60s and we haven't even been getting below freezing at night. Weird. La Nina, I suppose.

Well I'm just rambling. Hope you all have a nice New Years! Take care...

We had a high of 46 in Wisconsin yesterday. Unseasonably warm for sure (not that I'm complaining)!

Today is starting off with a bang. Got a text from Massachusetts saying Blitz's date is READY!!!! Um, nothing like a little notice. So luckily the vet tech can fit us in at noon.

I love FB market place!I was able to find a new home for my older artificial Christmas tree within minutes of posting. People do love free stuff! Fellow is on his way to pick it up now. I have a fold up bicycle I am going to give away, too. The box takes up way too much floor space in the garage. I took it in trade for a grooming for some friends who didn't want it (they inherited it from a friend who was moving...) because they insisted it would work so well for me at dog shows. I didn't want it, but took it. I'm such a sucker!

Prep for my trip to Palm Springs is now delayed and I have a feeling I'm not going to want to follow through with our NYE plans, but no way I can get out of it. Ron would kill me. BFF would be sad and he's already sad enough these days.

Liz, yay on the weight loss!!!! Wonderful feeling, right?

Ann, happy one week-aversary!

Happy New Year everybody!

You will enjoy the evening once you get out. That's what I usually find happens when I start feeling like I want to stay put.

It is awesome entering the New Year feeling in control of my weight! I've lived for weeks with treats in the house, while still maintaining. Surgery was still the biggest life changing tool for me, but the Wegovy gives it another important boost. I remain hopeful that there will be medication options when I hit Medicare in July 2026. This field of treatment is changing rapidly.

Oncology appointment was interesting. My oncologist left, so I saw someone new today. She will not prescribe Tamoxifen any longer. She disagrees that I should have stayed on it after my blood clots (a known side effect). I am comfortable with the decision my previous oncologist and hematologist made, but I understand the new approach. She want me to switch to an Aromatase Inhibitor. This is usually not recommended if you have bone density issues. She said new research shows if I switch to an IV bone strengthening medication, that there is no danger of bone loss, and the medication actually increases the effectiveness of the Aromatase Inhibitor. So if I make the switch, I move to a statistically more effective medication for preventing breast cancer, and no risk of blood clots. I can stop taking ElIquis after a few months. I would prefer an IV treatment for bone loss, but my endocrinologist keeps insisting on the most conservative treatment, which is oral medication. Now there would be a medical reason to switch to the IV, which the Weight loss surgery clinic endorses. They don't like the possible G.I. side effects of the oral medication. So I am going to make the switch. I did tell the oncologist though, if I have ongoing side effects for months, like I did initially with Tamoxifen, I am not staying on it. She feels I probably won't, or they will be short lived.

We are attending a low key party this evening. DH has to work his part time shift tomorrow at 7am, so we won't stay until midnight. Back to work on Thursday. I am telling myself it's okay to get back at it, so we can tick off more days and get to the end of this year.

Dreary, overcast, but not bitterly cold. The temps are dropping the end of the week, and we might see the sun. I will welcome that cheerful orb, but dread the cold. Life in the Bold North. We have a few things on our calendar to look forward to, and winter will pass eventually.
