118.8 even after weird travel eating. But I did eat high protein/healthy for breakfast and lunch. And couldn't eat much of the pizza last night.
We got home at 8:30 last night. Only 1.5 hours later than plan. But we were exhausted partially because we had a 2 hour drive to the airport on the front-end and 1.5 hours after the flight, both ends being through drizzly rain. Yuck! I got a credit card from Breeze airlines to build points since they fly direct from our local airport. We can't avoid the long drive on that end but we can here. We are feeling done with the Orlando drive though we have to do it again in a couple of weeks to stay with grandchildren for a few days while their Mom travels on business.
It is so good to be home! So much more comfortable and homey for me here. I was missing my Cape house a lot, especially the sunroom where I had my big tree and my gas fireplace. That was my happy place.
We have company arriving this afternoon for 2 nights. This is the 3rd year we have hosted them on their way to their rental in the Keys. The husband is DH's longest term friend (since they were toddlers) and the wife was a classmate of DH. Nice people though they eat a little differently than we do. They used to be completely vegan though they loosened up a bit a few years ago to include some dairy and fish. The husband has had some physical issues impairing his digestive abilities and he wasn't getting enough nutrients from a vegan diet. So fish we can do!
But first a long Justice walk, then water aerobics. Have a Merry Monday!

215.6 Up down, up down.... Need to focus a little more on protein, me thinks. Too much easy access to sweets since Christmas.
I have not gotten too much done this morning except a little dog club work and fixing a kitchen drawer. I must run to the tailor to take some pants in for hemming. I got some really nice sweats for lounging and working out, but I can't stand the ankle band. I cut the bands off and don't feel like hemming by hand. It's a pain! I'd rather pay to have it done nicely.
Glad you made it home, Liz. I do not envy you company immediately following your return.
My dad read me L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz as a child. By 5 I was in love with the 1939 MGM movie and watched it every Easter on TV. I'd even go to my friends' house because their family had a color TV. We did not. So, being a dyed in the wool Oz freak, I picked up Gregory Maguire's book in the late 90s and devoured it. It's worth the read. Here's a link to the paperback on Amazon: Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.
Must get on with my day and not waste the daylight hours!
Toodles!
I will have to try the book - I didn't love the musical story.

I also read Wicked, and liked some parts, but overall it left me with a bad after taste. So I doubled down and read the sequel Son of a Witch, which was even darker and more disturbing. The musical for me, stands apart from the book. I expect very little from plots in musicals, although some are great, like Les Miz. If they can tie together some smashing musical numbers, I'm satisfied, so I do enjoy Wicked, The Musical. With the exception of Something Bad is Happening in Oz, I hate that number. I am also annoyed when they pull Fiero out of the floorboards at the end. But its worth it to me to see No One Mourns the Wicked, Popular, and Defying Gravity. I thought the musical was fine, and Ariana Grande was outstanding, but I prefer seeing it live.
Further reviews, DD and DH really enjoyed Nesferatu. They are now quoting the line, She'll rave all night; then rave she must! DD found the lead actress very compelling. She thought the movie could of pressed the freak even more, DH thought it was the right amount of freaky. They both liked the cinematography, and didn't find the lighting an isdue. DD in fact thought they did a skillful job of lighting night scenes. They both thought I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it, because of some of the violence, which DD said could be gross, and weird body bending, which for some reason skeeves me out. (One time we were watching a version of Macbeth with Patrick Stewart, and the weird sisters did some crazy contortions, and it still gives me the ick when I think about it).
This morning we went for coffee, and now I am going to meet up with some current and former co-workers. Break is going by too quickly!
DD and DH really have the same movie taste - so much fun for them to be able to enjoy a movie and discuss it afterwards!

141.3, exactly the same.
I actually had a busy day! Lots of laundry, some house cleaning, got my business books for the year completed and found and purchased our new dining room table and chairs. We have more of a nook than a dining room but still need seating for 8 at times. So a square counter height table with 8 chairs it is. I could have done benches as well but that always looked too farm house for my taste. Now to get rid of the square granite table we currently have along with the 8 chairs that no longer feel good to my boney butt!
DC1 is over and making French Toast with sausage links for dinner. I rarely have a food craving anymore but yesterday on the way home from church all I could think about was French toast with Mrs. Butterworth?s syrup. Still sounds good today!
We decided to invite a couple over for New Years Eve celebrations tomorrow night. Very low key with charcuterie and appetizers and a few drinks. We will probably play some games and talk a whole lot. I told them that we didn?t need to ring in the New Year if we didn?t want to stay up that late! True sign of getting old! Lol!
DH is still anxious about his MRI on Thursday and not sleeping well at night because of it!
Heard of some sad news regarding a classmate of mine that I had attended Elementary - High School with. Last Friday she was driving in her city and got hit head on by someone trying to pass in a no passing zone. She didn?t survive the crash. How fleeting life can be. I?m sure her family never imagined at their Christmas celebrations that two days later she would be gone. Super nice woman. We will all miss her and her beautiful smile!
So, so sorry about your friend. When people our age die whether suddenly or not it really does remind us how life is not guaranteed so we better live it to its fullest.
Has DH had an MRI before? If not and he is anxious about the process does he have Valium? I have had 3 - the first one without it, but I freaked out the second time and had to be rescheduled after I got a prescription, so I won't do them without. My SIL has brain MRIs about every 6 months and she can do it without a sedative but I don't know how. Or is DH mostly just anxious about the results?

Greetings all
It's sunny and nice but cold. OK by me. I went to the gym and walked. Upped the incline button by a tiny increment. I was sort of shamed into doing so by the presence of other old ladies who were walking much faster than me. Oh well. It works. I started this walking at 10 minutes on the theory that I can stand anything for 10 minutes. Up to 16.5. It sounds pitifully small but better than couch potato-ing. 49 calories burned. After that I went to the studio and then made a quick store run. They did not have what I wanted which was more chicken livers. But they actually had containers of CHICKEN FEET. Who buys that?
One more holiday to go. I will do scrabble tomorrow and make a gallery trip and bank deposit and that should be it for the year. Spent some time on the phone with the credit union about my required IRA distributions. I think they did it wrong. Few answers.
Paula that MRI can't come soon enough. Sorry for the friend you lost to the accident. Life has no guarantees.
Yay DD and Peps for enjoying holiday break. One more semester to go.
Ann. Day 7. or is it 8?
Liz I bet Justice is glad to be home. He is Florida boy.
DH took our dogs out for a walk. They encountered a little girl with a bunny in a pen outside. DH wisely crossed the street with our terriers.
There was a new york times article about protein powder and how good it really is. I dont' subscribe so I just see the headlines. Anybody read it? Anything worth knowing?
Deli wraps for dinner tonight. Alas, no pot pies available.
