True but very different viewpoints on other things too. And a lot more positions are elected vs appointed compared to Mass.

Minnesota behaved mostly like I would expect Minnesota to behave. Locally though, our school board elections were troubling, with 2 anti- public education candidates winning. Sigh. I've seen them come and go, because once they do get on the board I think they discover dismantling the system is harder than it looks. And our levy referendum did not pass. There could be more budget cuts coming. We're already spread pretty thin. Won't be my problem, but I feel bad for my colleagues and my students.

There was a question in Florida which did not pass which would require school board members to run as partisan vs nonpartisan as it has been. I'm glad that one didn't pass as I think political views don't belong in this arena (at least not more than they are already).

Greetings all

Sun is out big and it's almost hot. I went to the gym to resume walking. Mid day is definitely the geezer hour. Hardly anyone there. Works for me and no grunting. After that I stopped in at the hair salon to make an appointment as no one there answers the phone. I have a new person as the previous one is gone. Works for me. I am no longer fussy about my hair and just need it chopped. Also stopped at the hippie food store and got a pot pie and a few other items. I carefully inspected all of the cookies from the bakery but bought none. Was craving some kind of comfort food like cookies and milk but overall, gluten free does not cut it. Settled for just the milk.

We turned off the tv at about 9;30. Not happy with the election and DH is downright despondent. I told him to take a dog and go walking since it really is lovely. Next I will allow him to watch whatever stupid sci fi alien show he wants.

I also worked on our lease counter proposal. Someone came up with some good comparable so will use that. Hoping for progress.

Well CC, so Kirby has a girlfriend! Well Kirby, enjoy the feeling while it lasts. Chop chop.

Bonnie fresh made tahini! What a gift. No clue how to make that stuff. Enjoy.

Liz I think Disclosure is on Apple tv. We have run though the available episodes. Enjoy water aerobics.

Not much else. Found a pot pie for tonight. Ultimate comfort food.

I was worried that the kids would be whipped up after such a heated election cycle. It grieves me to say that in 2014, a group of kids started chanting build the wall in the lunchroom. Not good. Today was calm and I even had 2 students with differing viewpoints carry on a civil conversation. It encouraged me.

Disclosure with Kate Blanchett is on Apple +. I'll be interested to hear what you think.

Miss150, I am very paranoid about not having basement access. When I was in college, I lived in a duplex for a few months without it. A tornado literally went through the backyard and took the 3rd story off a building across the street behind us. I truly thought I was dying that day. After that, I never lived in a building where I couldn't access the basement. My parent's current home does not have a basement, but they had the hallway closet reinforced to be a shelter if needed. By the time we dragged enough stuff out of it so we could fit in, a tornado would likely have passed over.

Though the tornado warning went out on everyone's phones there really wasn't much time to get in a safe place. And they said once you hear the roar it is basically right there. I can't imagine being that close.

About 15 years ago, a tornado came right over our home and landed in the field beyond ours about 400 yards away. Then it went over the hill and destroyed two homes less than a mile from ours. We were lucky.

My home here in the Ozarks has three levels, and the bottom level is a walkout on three sides. I've spent quite a bit of time in the shelter down there. But earlier this week (Monday night?) we again had tornado warnings, and I thought to myself, "What are the odds that after all these years of NOT getting blown away I'll get blown away tonight? Pretty low, I'll wager!" I didn't even get out of bed, much less make up a survival kit and scurry down the stairs.
