Quick grocery store run and an unfruitful hour round trip to Home Depot today. The one by my old house always had a huge houseplant section. The one here had a few measly pothos and that was it. I'd like a tall plant for my dining room.
The weather a few degrees cooler and cloudy, so it doesn't feel as hot.
Drinks at the neighbors was lots of fun. Holy moly their newly finished house is spectacular. I was so jealous! I think I need to commit to a daily 30 minutes of tidying/decluttering. It's their 3rd house, so it loos perfect without a lot of personal stuff around. Not a pile in sight. And so beautiful! Whole walls of glass opened up and rolled back to various patios, one looking out onto a zero edge pool with the mountain I look at it just behind. (All I could think about was how do they not have scorpions? All of it jaw dropping, really. Makes me wish I'd built from scratch! Though this is the culmination of 5 years of work on the house, so it's not a fast thing. It's a second (or third?) marriage for both, so they've been married for 3 years, together for 10 with 4 grown adult kids between them. I also got a chance to meet a neighbor up from me who I haven't had a chance to yet. She was really nice. They lost their adult daughter to cancer a couple of years ago and, devastated, she apparently just retreated from life. So I hope she had fun and could see there is still life to be lived, even if it was just drinks with neighbors.
Today is shot day, but I haven't taken it yet. I have a headache and feel a little yucky. Maybe later or tomorrow.
Thinking good thoughts for Florida...
Take care all!
I feel like your home is jaw dropping, so I can't imagine something all that much better. Your house has such amazing views and great bones.

Day/night 1 of conferences is done, one more night tomorrow. One parent cried. I hope it was because this year was starting better for her daughter. She had a very rough time socially last year. Middle school can really chew up the nice kids. Sigh.
Speaking of emotional eating, definitely did some tonight as baked treats were provided and lord knows you need comfort on a 12 hour day, fraught with emotions; yours, the parents and the kids. And I learn yet again the comfort or relief gained isn't very long lasting, and leaves your tummy feeling weird. Tomorrow parents are bringing a meal, which will offer comfort, but potentially better choices.
Time to get the bedtime routine underway. Watching the news about Florida, and hoping those who chose to hunker down, or had no easy way to leave are safe.
