I wonder if September 11 evokes strong memories for my kids as it does for me. Such a fearful day, made somewhat more personal for our friend group because one of us was a flight attendant who was supposed to be on one of the planes that crashed. She had switched days with a friend but it took a few hours to ascertain that. And so sad for her and her co-workers to receive the news. It is always weird to drive by the flight school where the terrorists trained when we go to breakfast on Sundays in Florida.

We did no****ch the debate from Block Island - in fact we were asleep by then. I hadn't been sleeping well earlier in the week but I think I have caught up now. We typically watch some TV news at night but spend more time reading the news in the morning while drinking our coffee. It seems like such a luxury to do so after so many years of rushing in the morning to get ready for work.

Block Island is great so far: Similar in some ways to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket but much more quaint. It seems like there are many more casual restaurants and bars on the water. The other islands seem to have reserved water view restaurants mostly for the upscale resorts. The hotels are in large old buildings that make you feel like you have stepped back in time. We are debating whether to rent bicycles or a moped. I prefer the former but we haven't been on bikes for quite a few years.

Enjoy your day all! Have a winning Wednesday!

I was in D.C. on 9/11. Finally got home on Saturday. What a horror for our nation and all Americans.

Last night we watched the debate and slept in a bit this morning. Today is floor-mopping day and mowing day. That's a lot to get done. I'd better get up and get at it.

Y'all have a good day. It's the only one we have right now.

I can believe those 2 tasks would be enough for the day at your house!

Same old, same old here. Checking in on Dad. Latest is he believes he has a new girlfriend. Good for him, right? I think it's all in his head, because the details are all too fantastic - including details of the night he spent with her. Can't help but say Ewww and good for you all in one breath.

Having a few taxing behavior issues at a couple of schools. Luckily, they are at the beginning of the week.

Weight slowly bounces down. Down, up, down, up, down, down.... You know the drill....

Tired. Dad, dogs and work make for LOOOONG days.

I feel for you, Peps. Hardest years of my life (amidst a challenging work schedule) were spent caring for my mom who had Alzheimer's (8.5 years in our home and 4 years at a nearby nursing home). It doesn't last forever, just feels like it will when you're in the midst of it.

September 11, yeah; who doesn't remember that along with lots of other specific days and years made sad due to the terrible inhumanities perpetrated in the name of "shameless righteousness". The debate and commentaries afterwards

Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing.

I imagine by now the post debate biased "positive" spin on each side's performance has further justified whatever preconceived belief people already held. Open mindedness and critical thinking skills are almost nonexistent when it comes to politics. Will be skipping the national news, at least for today.

Past time to be out and about experiencing that winning Wednesday and wishing the same to all.

My eldest was going to their first day of pre-school on that solemn September 11th. The first I had heard of it was on the drive to drop him off and it felt odd to leave him there with all of the uncertainty. So no, my kids were too young to remember the actual day.

I watched the first hour of the debate then headed to bed. Easier to watch than the first one. My mind was made up before the debate but it just solidified my thinking.

165.8. Slowly but surely going in the right direction. At Mom?s now and will be bringing her to our home tomorrow for a week. Will have errands to run with her as she rarely gets out to go shopping so she has a list!

What a terrible, terrible day to remember. I read this morning more people have died from cancer and other illnesses from participating in the recovery and clean up efforts than died that day. A second tragedy.

I had a hair appointment today, but when I got there, an older somewhat confused woman had shown up for an appointment that wasn't in my hair person's book. She offered to do us at the same time or I could come back. (The other woman should have been the one to come back, but I didn't fight it as I was free at noon). I opted to come back. So I went home and walked the dog instead.

While I was gone for my hair appointment, the guys putting in a new electric gate for our private street hit a gas line sending the fire department out. Thankfully nothing blew up... The gas company had come out to mark the gas lines prior to trenching to get power to the new gate, but his sensor picked up the dog invisible fence wire and he missed the gas line. But I'm pleased to report the dog fence was not harmed in anyway . Our neighbors don't have gas though. We get a lot of trespassers who drive down our road ignoring 4 separate "turn around, private driveway, no trespassing signs" for the unobstructed lake view. It's really annoying and people get nasty when you ask them to leave, hence the new electric gate.

I was down a whole 0.4 pounds this week. But with cinnamon rolls and s'mores consumed, I can't complain. I upped my dose to 12.5 today figuring my next batch will be 12.5 sent to AZ in 2 weeks and I should have enough of my 10 to start a little early.

Out to dinner tonight with our guest as the food fest continues!

Take care all...

Greetings all

It's foggy today and even rained a bit. I went to the studio and did a lot of glazing. The house got cleaned which is good. Our cleaner is taking a trip overseas and will be gone for a month. No telling how bad things will get here.

Sept 11. We all remember where we were and what we were doing. I was getting ready for work when DH told me a plane hit the WTC. I was about ready to leave when #2 hit. I went on to work but nothing got done and we watched the towers go on the conference room tv. Our law firm decided to close and send everyone home since we were all in high rise buildings. Air Force 1 was seen landing at Offut Air Force Base just to our south. What an awful day.

I vote for bicycles Liz. Mopeds are scary. Enjoy the island.

CC glad no one got hurt when the gas line was cut. Sounds like your neighborhood does indeed need the gate so hope it's done soon. Food Fest!! Yeah sometimes life seems like one continuous food fest.

Local news: the elderly lady who was lost in the woods has been found safe. She was out two nights!

We watched the debates since we are news junkies and love this stuff. Enjoyed the last of the chili. Tonight's dinner=???

Peps sounds like you are burning the candle at both ends. Self care needed. Good that your dad is content.

DH is patiently awaiting his replacement iPad since the old one broke. It was actually not old at all. Meanwhile our tv service is in a state of flux due to the soon to be end of tivo and I am having to learn to work the apple tv and YouTube tv. It's not going well.

Got my new rebooks and at least they seem to fit. But they are stiff and feel clunky. I hate new shoes. I feel like taking a mallet and pounding them to soften them up. I will never be Imelda Marcos.

Wow, what good news about the lady who was lost in the woods! Her family must have been so scared.
