Weight 120.8. Unchanged for 7 days in a row even after I had 3 pieces of pizza for dinner last night (a small pizza). In the past when I weighed daily I rarely stayed exactly the same.

Not much planned for today other than possibly getting together with SIL to put together one of the centerpieces for my DD's wedding so we have a model. We have everything except for some greens to go with the flowers. SIL has a certain kind of eucalyptus in mind (because it will be in DD's bouquet) but we can't seem to find it so may have to swap for something else.

The weather has changed substantially with a big reduction in humidity and temperature. The next few days are supposed to have a high in the low 70s with very low humidity as opposed to the last couple of months of high temperature/humidity. It might actually feel cold to me!

And DS does not have COVID, flu, or strep. Just a bad unidentified virus. He kept to himself last night going to bed super early and says he feels much better this morning. The urgent care doctor says he isn't contagious but I'm still giving him a wide berth.

Have a titanium Tuesday!

I find my weight stays weirdly stable too. One time I grabbed a box of stuff and held it while I weighed because I thought maybe the scale was stuck. Nope, I did in fact weigh more holding a box than not holding a box.

Overcast today, so I think DH and I will go check out my classroom to see if the carpet is in and I can start re setting my things.

We bought some more theater tickets: for the Broadway tours of Some Like it Hot and Back to the Future. We saw Some Like it Hot in NYC and it was fabulous! So excited to see it again. I'm not a huge fan of the Back to the Future story, but DD saw it, and said we shouldn't miss it because the special effects are so good. So we'll see it when it tours through Minneapolis next month.

DD texted us this morning and shared she has now lost 32 pounds since the beginning of June. I am so happy for her!

Currently planning a trip to Galveston with BIL and SIL during my break in October. In Minnesota we have a fall break (a 4 day weekend). Always need to have a trip planned for overall life satisfaction :)

Chilly here this morning, but sunny! The thermometer on my thermostat said 44 outside this morning at 8am. Not sure it actually was that cold, but it felt at least in the low 50s.

We had dinner at friends' last night. They made smash burgers. And we have plans to go out with friends of my folks tonight... to a smash burger restaurant. I'm burgered out (and socialized out) and may not go. We'll see if I rally. I so often feel like a third wheel here.

I need to walk Kirby, but nothing else planned. I was getting bombarded by texts from a friend this morning. I think she's adopted this pattern of texting from her kids (I understand it's a genz thing - they think punctuation and formatting in texts is "aggressive". Eyeroll).

It's like her story unfolds as an installment series, broken into a million texts. I hate it!!! If it's that involved, call me or send one long text with paragraph returns. It was TWENTY TEXTS. So all the constant notification break ins while I'm trying to read the news and have my coffee. And there is no point in responding until she's finished so my ipad and I are basically captive until she reaches the end. I have even hid notifications so they don't happen when I'm not on a device, but if the device is open, that doesn't work. I think I may have to ask her gently to stop with the multiple texts. But she's sensitive, so I need to do it when she's not in crisis! Ugh. But the crises seem to be a daily occurrence, so not sure when I'm going to be able to squeeze that in.

So that's me in a nutshell today - over burgered, over texted. Hope all is well in your world!

Twenty texts? That's a crazy monologue!! I bet you can find a way to tell her nicely. You're not saying you don't want to hear from her, just formatted differently.

20 texts is crazy! I wonder if it is a woman thing though. My kids answer me in one word responses all the time and half of the time I don't understand what the youngest one even means. He definitely has his own language!

Have a great walk with Kirby!

That form of texting would drive me crazy!

Liz, thanks for the thoughts on Medicare. I am very leary of Medicare Advantage. Anytime a medical product is advertised (and the plans are constantly being advertised on TV and print) I think some group is chasing profits. In order to generate profit, access to care must be limited in some way.

Retirement Spending: If we've planned this the way I think we have we should be debt free when I retire. The house is paid for, the cars will be paid off. That's pretty much it for debt. I was joking with DH if he thought we could keep at least one of our cars running until we die. Probably not :) When we were in the thick of it raising kids, bills everywhere I asked DH how we would ever be able to retire? He said are you planning on taking dance classes? Playing the saxophone? Voice lessons? Will you need special shoes for track? And he was right, some of the expenses that were overwhelming me did fall away. We will not live lavishly, but we will be fine, and will have room to do some of the things we love for as long as we are able to health wise.

Medicare loves Advantage plans because it is guaranteed cost for Medicare. I got one for deceased DH because that's all I could easily find information on from the Medicare site.
