I honestly don't think that the FDA is going to change it's tune any time soon on the meds. Lilly is still having supply/demand issues. Pharmacies are still dealing with the shortage of the meds. Plus, you have a billion dollar industry that has popped up over the past few years in response to the shortage. It will be hard to flip that switch for many reasons.
I am still bouncing up and down a pound. It is frankly due to my back to school eating habits! My team is food oriented (aren't all teachers????) and is planning our locations for the day around which school is providing catered meals. LOL! Yesterday, I simply ate in a way that would not promote weight loss. I didn't over indulge as I would have in years past, but there were sweets involved.
Little Bug got her last set of vaccines yesterday. Now all that is left is a Lepto booster in month and her rabies at 6 months.
Not gonna lie: there was some joy bubbling up when I hit the send button yesterday and my letter of intent to retire went to HR and my superintendent. The Superintendent already sent me a congratulations and wished me a joy filled last year. That was nice! I also felt a bit of a spiritual weight slip away, too.
Interesting conversation on TT about the reduction or discontinuation of the WL meds. At this point in time the conversation doesn't apply to me, but I'm guessing that at some point in the future it might. At this point I am considering upping my dose to help get me kick started again. I think I need to settle back into my school routine and see how it goes.
I think that's all I've got for today!
Nice to be officially in your last year isn't it?

How do you really feel, Peps?

I did it! 20 pounds down! Probably even closer 21 but I can't quite count it as that yet! Funny, I have not moved down in clothes sizes yet but the clothes I have are fitting better. I must have been in denial by refusing to go and buy bigger sizes and wearing either loose styles or clothes that were too tight. I do remember that 20 lbs. equaled a size down for me until a certain point and then it was every 10 lbs. That calculates out to be about right. Right now I'm a 12, probably close to a 10 and at goal weight I should be about a size 4. I actually got down to a 2 and even a few pairs of pants that were 0 after VSG but that was too skinny! Remind me of that when I get to a size 4. The body dysphoria Bonnie talked about on TT is very real!
Liz, hope you get both corn and a kayak paddle in soon! How did you choose which horses to bet on? I like Diane's idea of betting on the naughty one!
DD, glad you got to visit with your teacher friends. It is a bit odd about the one that left under questionable terms buying gifts and lots of apps!
CC, glad you had such a nice visit with your cousin. I only see cousins at funerals these days. None of my cousins live close by, they are scattered from NJ to CA with some in MI, IL, AZ, MO, and FL! The cousin I was closest to died at age 5O from brain cancer!
Peps, good for you for getting that letter in! I bet it did help relieve some tension. And nice that the Superintendent already offered congratulations! DH is having a hard time with his last year. Hates going to work (he had to work 12 hour shifts now), wants to just be home with me and is getting more jealous of my time off by the day! He signed a contract that got him 2 weeks of extra vacation last year and this year and will allow him to work M-F, 8 hour days starting the first of the year. If we don't use any vacation, his last day should be around mid April! That will put me at almost 60 and him at the magic 59 1/2 to be able to draw from retirement accounts without penalty!
Got a craving for Applebees oriental chicken salad today. There is only one still open in the surrounding area so we will try that tonight for dinner. I'm thinking I'll probably be disappointed but the fact that food sounds appealing at all is a good thing!
Congratulations on 20 pounds!

Greetings all
Another sunny nice day. There is a new fire inland I think about 30 miles and smoke is visible though it's hard to sort from the clouds. I am trying to find out exactly where but the fire maps only reference obscure creeks. Cal fire people are so awesome.
Doctor apt for annual fog the mirror test. I may ask about wegovy and medicare since I do have a minor cardiac issue. My main issue seems to be a bad case of "I'll do it tomorrow"-itis. Ces't la vie. I am proud of all of you who are rocking these meds. BB raises the perennial issue. We all lost tons of weight and I too am one who got too skinny **** lbs) but slowly regained and then not so slowly. I do think some of us are chemically wired to gain and hold weight. My friend *****cently visited commented on how little I eat. She eats tons and always has and indeed the parents of one of our high school friend thought she must have a tapeworm. She had a very serious leg surgery a few months ago and was bed ridden for a long time but gained no weight. Geez, where do I get those genes?
Yep the naughty horse theory came from one time at the races when I saw the horse reach out and try to bite its escort pony. The jockey bonked it on the head with his fist. That horse won.
DD interesting that the teacher-with-a-past was invited. Seems like she tried hard to fit in. Guess we have all had that uncomfortable situation where we find ourselves at a party with someone we have had issues with. Did you ever learn the true events? Glad you enjoyed the event with others.
Yay Paula countdown to DH retirement. Even though I retired young it still took a lot of planning - like a year - for me and DH to get everything done plus maintain a little secrecy until our time. All worked out.
CC glad you had fun with cousin. Cousins are like siblings with less baggage.
Halibut last night was pretty good. I just cooked it in a skillet with no breading. hamburgers tonight.
Cheers. Diane S
Hi, all,
Just checking in with nothing much to report. We're still working on mostly minor house repairs: dishwasher wasn't properly secured and was rocking, a loose board on our stairs, roof repairs, etc. We were able to get our French door repaired enough that we aren't going to replace it---so that's a saving of AT LEAST $6k! In days gone by, my DH would have easily fixed many of these items, but his Parkinson's is robbing him of so much. It's hard to face...
I am also worried about the continued availability of these drugs. I am maintaining now, but I know myself well enough to know that without them, I will regain.
Anyway, I don't write something every day--I'm working on checking in more--but I always read everything and appreciate all of you!
Lizanne
Parkinson's is a tough disease. Two of my uncles had it and we have a friend living with it.
