The discussion about kayaking and corn yesterday reminded me that I need both in my life. So little time this summer. The kayaks are still at my house so I just have to wheel them down to the pond. Need to plan that!
Last night we had a good meal at a restaurant we hadn't tried previously in Saratoga Springs. I ate half of an appetizer as my meal and DH ate half of his main meal because we both ate a lot of a delicious shared salad. We took the leftovers because we have a refrigerator and a microwave in our room but when are we going to eat them???
We will leave for the horse track in a couple of hours. We like to get there right at the opening so we can find decent parking and good hangout spot within the grounds. We don't get dressed up and sit in the fancy areas. We just bring our folding chairs and cooler and sit under the trees. It is easier to get up from there to watch the horses and riders walk to the track before each race (my favorite part), then we walk over to the side of the track to watch them run.
My next shipment of tirzepatide arrives today (wouldn't you know). SIL is going over to the house to put it in the refrigerator for me. I'm glad I got this shipment as it looks like there is a serious risk that the FDA is going to shut down allowing compounding of the meds at some point. When I read BB's comments on FB about the raging hunger coming back when she stopped I got scared. I looked up the expiration for the patents and for Zepbound it is in 2039! So unless Medicare requirements related to weight loss drugs changes or Lilly reduces the price I am going to lose access to the medication at a fair price.
Time to get cleaned up for the day. Have a winning Wednesday!

My cousin has left after a lovely visit. He's great! And zero politics were broached which meant an even nicer visit. Just lots of laughs, dog walks, puzzles, and reminiscing as it should be.
Nothing planned today, but it's another gorgeous day in a long string of them. Eating and desserts increased and digestion/elimination interrupted by houseguests, but still down 0.8 of the 1.8 I managed to gain last week. I have less appetite than before meds, but nothing like the rest of you. Oh well. Something is better than nothing!
Off to start on laundry... take care!
Again based on BB's comments I wonder if the variation in effect is related to the variation of blood sugar? Mine was high previously (don't know it is now) - I was prediabetic.

We're reaching the now what? phase of weight loss with meds. Maintenance has always been the challenge. Seems our experiences are so varied. I am essentially in maintenance without any real intent (initially) to stop losing weight. Wegovy is proving to be beneficial outside of weight loss for many conditions: curbing inflammation, reducing cardiovascular events like stroke or heart attack. While it's newly prescribed for weight loss, it's existed for diabetes treatment for 20 years. I intend to use it as long as I can (Medicare may be the end of the road). The landscape is changing so fast, with new drugs and possibly oral drugs (cheaper?), coming to market that I remain optimistic about having access.
Yesterday met up with some co workers, mostly retired. The person who organized the gathering invited a teacher, without giving us a heads up, who left under weird cir****tances, midyear, about 3 years ago. Usually indicates pending lawsuit? She needed to leave, she was not a good teacher, gas lighted and manipulated kids. I do not like her. Nobody except apparently the organizer does.(I don't think the organizer meant any harm, she is very kind hearted, but also a little clueless) So this unfortunate person arrives with gifts for all of us, and orders 5 or 6 appetizers, her treat. What the heck? I was polite, and thanked her, but it was awkward. I spent the evening chatting with the former co-workers I did want to see, and got some good advice about how to approach this last year and tips for retirement.
Only plans today are dinner with BFF and family this evening. Looks like rain is coming, so maybe tackle a few things indoors.
I fear the cravings come back but also losing the marked reduction in inflammation if I can't access the drug. And I have a higher than normal risk of heart disease due to genetics and HBP.
Your get-together sounds like it was fun and useful. Maybe that former co-worker reassessed what she was like after leaving and was trying to compensate?

Pure fantasy, but possible interpretation: Maybe she's planning to depose some of y'all in her (our imagined) litigation and hopes at least some of you will support her version because she paid for appetizers. LOL!
