I vowed never to travel with my best friend, Bill, again. I love him, but he's awful on a trip. It's better for our friendship to spend time with each other where we can get to our respective homes easily. No doubt one day I will cave and do it again, then end up reestablishing the boundaries after a horrendous trip...

Paula, I would add that once you have a house in Florida, you will have plenty of travelers coming to visit. When my BIL moved to California for 2 years, you had to call months in advance to make a reservation to stay. All of us cold northerners seeking respite.
