It's injection day. I'm still staying on 5 mg for now, not moving up. My appetite was up slightly the last couple of days but not by a lot and I think I need a few more calories right now. Should be interesting to see where my weight is tomorrow after losing more than I expected the prior week. Question: do you use what is left in a vial even when you get a new one stepping up your dose? I got 2 extra injections out of the last vial.
Not much planned today again. Our friend is doing another sand sculpture this morning. 14 years ago when I first came here he did one daily and some of them were really detailed. Now that he is older he does every other day at most and does simpler ones which are finished within 2-3 hours. Still lots of fun and people here sometimes think that he is commissioned by the resort to do them. Once he had a deal with the restaurant to create a sculpture with their name but he was paid in food and tee-shirts for the "team" (the other guys brough****er and packed sand).
DH is complaining about sore joints and won't admit that it is probably arthritis. I have stopped taking naproxen because the tirzepatide has relieved my inflammation so much so I suggested he try taking it (I have a two week supply with me). We shall see. He hates taking any medication, though he does have one prescription for cholesterol and does take it daily. When he started it was only on a trial basis until he got his lab results. Since they showed a significant drop in his cholesterol level, he was willing to continue taking them.
Time to get dressed in the daily bathing suit. I brought 5 and rotate them. We dress in bathing suits and cover-ups all day, then change for the evening. No sweaters or long pants ever needed or wanted. Very simple to pack for here except in terms of deciding which bathing suits, dresses and shorts to bring and how many of each.
Have a thematic Thursday!
152.8. Boo-ya!
Calling this a reward for picking/raking up all the limbs and branches that had fallen due to the several wind-rain storms (hopefully done with for a while).
Liz, I really enjoy the sand sculptures you?ve posted. Your friend has so much talent!
DS#2 was over yesterday coincidentally on purpose because Wednesdays there is often a for real meal prepared. He took some home along with fresh yogurt made and Greeked out Tuesday.
Today takes me back outside with the handy weed whacker then just maybe I'll have time to pushmow round the places DH can't get to with the riding mower. Asher is coming tomorrow to help clean and seal the deck (one of many projects I procrastinate doing every day.
Looks like thematic Thursday is "gitter done".

I love my new dining chairs! They are a subtle nod to the Southwest without being literal or kitchy.
To balance out the high ceilings, I need a tall mirror over the buffet piece and a tall plant in the opposite corner (out of the picture on the left), but otherwise, I'm happy with how it's turning out.
And they placed and hung all my paintings, which has the added benefit of me knowing what walls still need filling. Kirby was a pretty good boy, but dying to get in everyone's way for pets. He's so pet-able though, that he got quite a few in between the hammering nails. We also picked out two rugs that are Flor rugs (the carpet tiles where you can pull up one, wa**** dry it and put it back) that I insisted on because of my pukey, messy dog. He threw up (mostly water) on the family room rug while they were here as demonstration of his prowess. Which I appreciated because the designer was not sold on the Flor carpet tiles.
The scale was down another 2 pounds today. 194.4. Unfortunately I think it was self-induced as I had left a rotisserie chicken out after going to the store to cool a little so I could de-bone it and forgot about it for too long. Thinking it would be fine was an error in food safety judgement I would soon come to regret...
A handyman is coming on the 17th to install my fans and fix my drywall. And the a/v guy is coming the 21st to fix a bunch of little things and install a new tv on my bedroom wall. Woohoo!
Kirby had his leptospirosis shot yesterday and a heartworm test. He weighs 67.6 pounds. Funny as he looks bigger than that, but is actually smaller than Fergus by a lot. His sturdy, blocky look is deceiving.
Yesterday I also spent some time working on a new newsletter for the HOA, which is something we really need. While I like to write, newsletter formatting and planning don't come naturally to me. My other new HOA board members counterpart is helping. He's great. Such a nice guy.
Today I am seeing two of my friends for lunch at one of their houses. One who hasn't seen my house is coming here first, so I need to go tidy up!
Liz, is DH's cholesterol med a statin? I know two people who stopped theirs because of the joint pain side effect. Sometimes meds giveth and sometimes they taketh away...
DD, love your summer break puttering posts! I can feel the relaxation from here.
Bonnie, gitter done-ing it must be in the air! Let's bottle it!
Ha - I have thwarted the internet gremlins and remembered to copy my post to Notes just before it disappeared as my internet is bad this morning... take that, gremlins!
Take care all!
The chairs are gorgeous. Stylish, but also look like they would be sooo comfortable.
Excellent thought about possible statins. DH has taken Crestor for 25 years, but at the lowest dose for that reason. At the lowest dose, he has no side effects. It has been effective keeping his bloodwork in the happy zone.
Love the chairs! I do think that vibe is so great in an Arizona home.
Sorry for the chicken mishap but it sounds like you've recovered thank goodness.
Thanks for the reminder about statins! I tried stopping them for myself when I was having a lot of joint pain but it didn't help. But I had forgotten that potential side effect and just mentioned it to DH in case it may be causing his aches.
I always write long posts in Notes now and copy/paste to OH. Better safe than sorry!
Liz, that's amazing that tirzepatide helps so much with your inflamation! DD has taken 3 doses, and had her period. She said it was so much better than normal. That actually made me tear up a little when she told me, because she suffers so much from endometriosis.
Your wardrobe reminds me of my beach summer all those years ago in Brazil. Wake up, swimsuit, cover up, breakfast, beach. Around 2pm go back to the condo, shower, real clothes, huge lunch, nap. Late afternoon walk on the beach, perhaps another shower, dress to go out, light dinner, go out with friends until 1am or so, sleep, repeat. From my little conservative town life, to a beachside summer in Brazil, it was wild!
Very fun night with my college roomies. As time goes by, these lifelong friendships are so precious. I love the shorthand conversations. We've known each or since we were 18, we know/knew each other's parents/siblings, slept at each other's homes, were each other's bridesmaids... it's just so much ease when we're together.
I'm trying to decide how to start the day. Workout, Costco, yardwork before it starts to rain. I'm going with workout first, or it might not happen. Better get going.
I so hope it makes a big difference for your DD with the endometriosis. What a great side-benefit that would be!
Lucky you to have had such long-term friends. I'm a little envious because I went to college and grad school at night so never made any friends there. I did it at a huge school (BU) so I never had the same classmates and of course I commuted after work.
