Somewhat thought-provoking but not surprising article in OH about GLP medications. I think most of us are aware of and pay more attention to some of these things than the general public though: https://www.obesityhelp.com/articles/navigating-the-risks-of -glp-1-medications-after-bariatric-surgery/?mc_cid=d88dc9627 6&mc_eid=ea20b0ff4d

Interesting! I wonder if the concerns the author expressed and the call for slow introduction and frequent monitoring apply more to people who aren't as far out from surgery as we are and also applies more to RnY and Duodenal switchers who's surgery more dramatically affects the function of their digestive tracts due to rerouting. We just trimmed the size of one organ, they completely changed their plumbing...
BMI.... as you know a real crazy maker for me. The last time I was within a normal BMI was when I was 18 years old and I did not look so good that thin - even then. Even after VSG weighing 170 with a 29-30 inch waist the BMI categorized me as OVERWEIGHT. My take is that if one has an athletic/muscular/heavy boned build BMI should be thrown out the window. It has taken me a long time to let go of BMI as a gauge of health and appropriate weight. Frankly, I think BMI needs to be thrown out altogether. It's archaic and most suited to women and men of slight builds. I think there are better ways to measure health.... But again, my own bugaboo and bias. I think I still harbor resentment over how I allowed the BMI scale to influence how I felt about myself and my weight.
I continue to lose 1-2 pounds per week on the tirzepatide. This rate of loss is acceptable to me because I am losing this weight without a diet mentality and without depriving myself. Yes, I make better choices and am conscious about my protein intake. I will check calories on some packaged foods, but I eat protein without weighing/measuring, am not counting calories, and eat fruit and veggies freely. However, I do try to limit sugar and I am definitely eating fewer processed carbs.
I am having a bit of an easy day. I groomed a dog this morning. After I was done, I had some lunch and in a little while I will go visit my dad. Tonight we have dinner plans with friends at a chain restaurant - The Cheesecake Factory (not my choosing). I am hoping to find some menu item that is small and protein forward. I have only been to a Cheesecake Factory once or twice. All I remember is pages and pages on carb-o-licious foods on teh menu! Wish me luck!
Glad to be home without much to do today. Frankly, I could even take a little nap... LOL!

I can understand with all your strength training why it wouldn't be a good indicator for you! For me it seems to pretty good, at least at the upper half of the BMI range. The lower 20 pounds of the range for my height is too thin for me. When you think about it, it needs to encompass men, women, sturdier women like me, willowy and tall supermodels, slight but tall men... but being 40 pounds wide, there is room for most of us (minus the muscly athletic ones).
I don't have a large build by any means but the normal BMI range for me is 104-141. I agree with the upper end, but at 104 I would look like I was seriously ill. I guess if I had bird bones it wouldn't be too thin... But definitely taking bone structure and muscle mass into consideration makes a lot of sense vs just calculated BMI.
