Great questions!
I am currently using HenryMeds but may switch to OrderleyMeds for maintenance (which I will likely be in by the time I finish the 8 weeks woorth that I have). HenryMeds charges a lot more for tirzepatide than OrderleyMeds and charges by the month vs by the order (which I believe OrderleyMeds does). I had discussed getting a prescription for the brand name version previously with my PCP which he agreed with but obviously my insurance (Medicare prescription coverage) wouldn't pay any of it. So I dropped it at the time. I told him at my last appointment that I was getting the compounded version and he thought that was fine. He has a lot of other patients doing the same either because of cost or availability.
Yes, I am eating like post-VSG. I am not sure of calories other than I have to be significantly under 800 as I am losing fairly quickly. I don't track anything (for the first time in my life when losing weight). However, I am paying attention to maximizing protein as my low appetite sometimes makes it difficult to have enough.
I am starting to think about maintenance as I am only about 5 pounds from goal. I think I will work on decreasing the dose/frequency until I stop losing. I checked in with Bonnie to see what she was doing because she mentioned that when she went too low she scarily got super hungry again. After being on it and not having to constantly have will-power the thoughts of going back to the old feelings frightens me too. Also, I am getting a lot of anti-inflammatory benefits for my arthritis especially in my knees which I don't want to lose. My PCP thinks that's great.
I am taking tirzepatide vs semaglutide because Bonnie did so well on it and Peps ending up switching to it. Seems to work much better for most.
Best of luck in figuring out what to do, but once you do the process is quite easy.
