Had so gut issues yesterday. Must have eaten something... but it showed nicely on the scale. I am down 38 pounds since my high, 33 since starting the meds. 8 more pounds to next goal.... I can do this!
Liz, I'm a bit jealous of your tropical vacation. It's been a long time since I have been close to the tropics. The last time was 2006, come to think of it. Ron and I went for a long weekend in Hawaii (I had a parent who worked for Delta and gave us friend and family tickets.... Round trip 1st class travel for $50 each!) Enjoy your time in Aruba fully. It's so nice that you are able to keep that tradition alive and chose to continue it after DH1 died.
CC, I have a couple of bites like that on my shoulder area, but mine don't itch. They are taking forever to disappear! I have never heard of No See Ums.
New crates came for the suv.... I ordered crates that were too tall, so I have to return them. Pain in the butt, that is! Now I'm rethinking the wire crates and thinking about spending 4 times the money on Ruff Land Kennels. They are supposedly super sturdy - even if they are made of plastic. Oh, isn't it wonderful to be blessed with first world problems. I joke, though I do think it is important that the dogs are as safe as possible when traveling in the car.
It is very hot here today. Will be close to 100 degrees this afternoon. Will drive up with my house guest to set up for the dog show this afternoon and repack the crates and get them to the UPS store. I'm supposed to have a training session at 5 pm, but I'm not sure I want to workout in a garage with no AC in 100 degree temperatures.
Well, need to get my lazy carcass out of my chair and busy myself for the day!
OMG - 100 degrees! Even if it is drier heat then we get on the east coast that is still hot!
This message is from Paula, showed up to me as administrator. so I am posting it for her. Diane
Cloudy and soon to be rainy day here in WI.
Started logging on MFP again today and had protein bar for breakfast (yuck). I just don't care for them much anymore. I can't believe it has been 9 years since my VSG! I had to make a new profile on here and had to backtrack to figure out my surgery date. I'm officially at my high since losing the initial weight. I would ideally like to lose 50 lbs. Covid started the rapid gain and menopause has contributed to a slow steady gain since. Of course snacking and little exercise hasn't contributed at all ?ð??".
Retirement is going well. I started a new photography business, officially "opening " in February. I have an Etsy shop and have done a few Art Shows. I'm only about $15,000 in the red so far ?. Hope business picks up!
We are still planning our big move to Florida for next year around this time. Will most likely buy or build in the Fort Myers area. One more Wisconsin winter, one more!
The kids are doing well. Stepdaughter just got her RN, is continuing school for her BSN and then maybe an MSN and will be getting married next May in North Dakota. Her fiancé is in med school and will be starting his internship right after the wedding so they have no idea where they will live then. DC #1 (non binary now) finally just got some help with their poor mental health through an intensive partial inpatient program (lasted a few months). Just returned to work this week as a Shift Supervisor at a regional grocery chain. I'm quite proud of them. So much growth! First time they have taken accountability for their own actions regarding their mental health and finally taking meds. DS #2 broke up with his long term partner (3 1/2 years) in March and had been living with us for the last 3 months. He just moved out this week to Madison WI and has 2 new part time jobs, one working as an instructor teaching for Aveda cosmetology school and another working as an esthetician. He is excited to be moving to a bigger city and getting on with his life. DS #3 is taking the summer off from college and other jobs. He is double majoring in Biochemistry and Philosophy and has been getting a 4.0 the last several semesters. He is extremely intelligent just like his Dad and wants to get his PhD and do research and then probably teach (again, just like his Dad). He has been drug free and gets help for his mental health. We seldom see him even though college is only about an hour and 15 minutes away. He keeps super busy. I image I'll get to see him a bit more over the summer since he didn't get a job like last summer. He worked almost full time for UPS, packing up trucks for delivery last summer and he said it about killed him! He has been dating a non binary person for about 1 1/2 years but they don't seem super serious. Too busy for that I guess.
Whew! That's a lot to catch y'all up on! I need to catch up with your lives too. Miss you all! Funny how you can become so invested in people you only know via the internet (though I see many of you have met in person - I'm envious about that!)
Paula
Wonderful to get an update on your life, Paula!!! And great that the kids are doing well. I'm sure that your 3 went through a lot of mental upheaval due to the loss of their Dad as did mine. Changes a lot when you lose a parent earlier than expected.
Keep in touch! We will meet in Florida one way or another!!!

Welcome back Paula! Hope your profile gets sorted soon so you can post like normal here! Many of us have jumped on the glp-1 bandwagon to get the regain off. MissBonnie can't due to her previous surgery and DianeS is thinking about it, but the rest of us are on one or another. They are quite helpful!
Hi, everyone...being on a tropical beach sounds pretty wonderful! It's very hot here, so I'm staying indoors with the A/C on.
I've been going down a rabbit hole of genealogy for the last couple of days. I'm mostly Irish, and everyone came to the US quite a while ago, but I have one great great grandfather from Italy. I learned that I could potentially have dual Italian citizenship through descent from him. But it all depends on when he was naturalized--and there are two dates listed, 1854 (before my great grandfather was born, so I wouldn't qualify) or 1864 (after he was born, so I probably would). Oh, my goodness, the trails you can go down looking for old records. No success, and I don't think it's worth pursuing much more, but it was kind of fun!
Now I'm coming up for air and rejoining the world! No news on the weight front. I have my annual physical later this month so will be curious to see how my labs are...
Stay cool, everyone!
Lizanne
You stay cool too! Genealogy is cool but does seem a bit like a rabbit hole I'm not willing to go down. I am Irish, Scottish, Welsh, English and a bit of Scandinavian.
Hi all, here is another message from Paula. I get them and they say "this message is not approved". I have no clue how to approve them. guess I will ask OH. Meanwhile this is from Paula:
- Weird, every time I post I get a message that says due to my new status as a member, my post will need approval from a moderator. Hope that doesn't last long! I'll be interested to learn more about the glp-1 meds
