Happy Sunday!
I am enjoying the Sierra foothills. The weather is really pleasant. If I weren't showing dogs, it would be utterly perfect, but it's a tad warm in the sun for the dogs. Molly is doing really well - best of breed both days, Owner handled group placements both days and a regular group placement (with the pros) today. Waiting for Owner Handled Best in Show... Hopefully, Molly doesn't poop out.
Last night I went with friends to a charming restaurant in Placerville - very old brick building Gold Rush era Main street setting. I ordered a burger. It was way too over cooked, but I didn't really care. I simply wanted some meat, so it did the trick. I ate half the burger and left the rest. What I enjoyed most was the company and seeing the old fashioned Main Street area.
CC, I hope your shoulder get best FAST! You must have really jammed it up when you fell. My Dr. is very conservative with ibuprofen because of my VSG, but he has told me that if I truly, truly need it, not to mess around with a 200 mg dose. I'm to go straight to either a 400 mg dose or a Motrin level dose of 800 mg for major joint inflammation and pain. When I do that I usually only need a single dose! Better than taking 200 mg every 6 hours for a few days, IMO.
Liz, I'm not at all surprised by the congestion on the Cape this weekend. That's pretty par for the course on Memorial Day. Glad you're able to work around all the tourists!
Diane S., gotta Google that event to see what exactly it is!
Lizanne, so nice to have the painting done, isn't it? We had ours painted in 2020 during lock down. It's amazing how much it costs to have the exterior of a house painted.
Bonnie, any word on inspections?
Diamond D., we are both on the home stretch! The end of the year is in full view! Let's just breath our way calmly to the end! Oh, we just reached a tentative agreement for next year. Little glitch in the language is going to be awesome for me. They found one time money to increase the medical benefit cap via an MOU. However, at the same time they are changing Early Retirement language to freeze the medical benefit cap at the rate it is on the date of your retirement. That means, as far as I can see, that my medical cap will be frozen at the MOU level. The district will have to pay me for the next four years at that rate. Whoo hoo... That means I can keep my fully paid high end medical plan until I qualify for Medicare. Whoo hoo!
Should start thinking about getting ready for Best in Show.
Our contract is, any increases in premiums are split 50/50. For example, insurance premiums are increasing 5% next year, but the district will pick up 2.5% and I'll pay 2.5%. I think it's a decent deal. Once you retire though, you pay any increases in full after that. Not a big deal for me, because I'll only use this retirement benefit for a year.
Liz, we are experiencing the opposite Memorial Day experience. Minneapolis is empty as everyone is up north or "at the lake".( Nobody ever says the name of lake they are at, it's just understood when you say, we'll be at the lake tomorrow, that you mean whatever lake it is that you, or someone in your family has a cabin at. ) Our coffee shop was empty yesterday, parking was breeze today in Minneapolis, we had our pick of the tables in the restaurant...
We enjoyed the play we saw today. Small cast, very electric energy. Our season is almost done, we have tickets to Little Shop of Horrors in July. I've never seen it, so something to look forward to. It's been a very satisfying experience this season, one superlative performance after the other.
The little weight drop from yesterday hung around. We finally got around to watching the Oprah special. So much rang so true. I want to love who I was and believe all of my life is meaningful and worthy, but boy, the realization how much better you're treated when you're smaller really messes with me. When the mother said her children are treated better now too when they are out in public with her, oh, that just about killed me. Did people treat my children as less than because of their obese Mother? Please Lord, I hope not. They've never said anything about anyone teasing them etc. There's nothing to be done now anyhow, but I never thought until last night that fat prejudice could have impacted them too. Hopefully in the coming years the stigma of being overweight will continue to decline.
Greetings all
It's sunny but kind of windy today. I would not want to be out on the bay paddling one of those kinetic sculpture things. They are all bike powered on land and paddled in the water. Some just sink and give up. I think the web site is Kinetic Grand Championship Sculpture race. Some have flames. Years ago there was a pink pony sculpture that blew bubbles out its azz.
Liz I have no doubt that you will do your pt and recover fully. No fun to not be able to lift one arm fully. We all take pony tails for granted! Sounds like you are rocking the Trizepitide. You are on the right path in not doing all the measuring.
Agreed, CC should get shoulder looked at. And I say do the advil. My surgeon told me it was ok to take advil provided I took it with a little food. In fact, that was one reason I chose the sleeve and also why I won my insurance appeal after they told me the vsg was experimental and denied coverage. I do try to be selective about using the stuff but I do as needed. Maybe a chiropractor could help your shoulder. I bet there are some woo woo chirpractors in Sedona like out here. But also normal ones.
DD sounds like you are having a fun holiday weekend. Congrats on approaching the off ramp for the school year. Ditto Peps. Hey I went to that Placerville show once. Mexican food I think. Wishing you luck and success.
I spent studio time glazing today and will do more tomorrow. No studio buddy today so it was peaceful. Some kind of cash flow crisis at the gallery last night due to lack of small bills but I guess it worked out.
I skipped walking yesterday as my back was killing me from dirt scooping. Advil taken. Much better today so I will attack the treadmill.
