I ate more than I should have last night again but it was so good. After the lecture/exhibit at the Art Museum we went to an Italian restaurant downtown recommended by our neighbors with 2 other couples. Great food and company! The topic at the museum was quite interesting as well. The show displayed photographs of billboards from the LA area painted in the 60's/70's of Rock and Roll greats during that time. Who knew that billboards used to be painted by hand? The best one was the image of the Beatles from the cover of Abbey Road with the top half of each Beatles extending above the board. After it was up, it was vandalized and someone cut Paul McCartney's head off. When the photographer was putting together his book, he posted a request on FB asking if anyone knew where the head was. A man in his 70's responded and there is a picture of him holding Paul's head from the billboard!

Today is supposed to be brutally hot so hopefully we will get out soon for our daily walk. My son will return from visit in his friends this morning and we will spend part of the day shopping for supplies so he can cook for 6 of us tonight. Our first real dinner party! One of the couples coming are the former owner of our condo - they have been here previously since we bought it but it must be a little weird for them especially since most of our current furniture was theirs.

Time to get outside. Have a superlative Saturday!

Good morning. Friday's is asking for additional bloodwork before they up my Semaglutide dose. Luckily, I have plenty to hold me over. I'm holding at 155, six pounds over my "normal range". My DD is flying down for a long weekend, so eating out will increase, but so will activity level. We are taking a tour of an island that had major rice plantations but now has a settlement of Gullah people keeping their heritage alive. I'll be kayaking for the first time since shoulder replacement and buggie boarding as well.

Age: 64; 5' 5"; High weight: 345; Start weight: 271 (01/05/15); Surgery weight: 218 (05/27/15); Pre-Op (-53); M 1 (-18); M 2 (-1.5); M 3 (-13.5 ); M 4 (-13); M 5 (- 8); M 6 (-12) M 7 (-5, Xmas); M 8 (- 9) Under surgeon's goal and REACHED HEALTHY BMI 12/07/15!! (Six months and one week.) AT GOAL month 8. Maintaining at goal range (139- 144) ~ four (4) years !!

Great news that you can resume kayaking, an activity you so clearly enjoy! Have fun.

Down another 0.6 pounds. 201. So close. When the big mason guy was here in one conversation he mentioned he weighed 221. I recall being inwardly horrified that I weighed 10+ pounds more than him.

I am so relieved the compound feels the same as the name brand shots. I was worried because the last stuff didn't. This one is from Hallandale. I'm sure it's all in our heads because some people worry that Hallandale doesn't work, others that other pharmacies don't. But others are really happy with the same stuff. I do think a lot of our brains/thinking is at play here too.

I'm liking Killing Eve. Not sure what service it originally came out on? Must not have been one I had.

I started a project to use colored wax on my mantel. It had faded to a light peach color. I used dark brown, but I think it might be too dark. I ordered some buffing attachments for my drill and a redder can of colored wax to try to make it more like my beams. It's not bad, but I think I can do better! Here is mid-wax before buffing:

It's stinky!

I think that's all my current news. Hot here too. Hope you all have a nice weekend!

201! The door is open

(back again. This is the 3d Gateway break today. I posted half way thru, fearing I would lose what I did have. OH needs to get it together).

and you are right about ready to go through .

I really like the darker mantle color. Good choice.

Scale weight numbers are funny. This is not a new phenomenon (I?ve been up and down this path seemingly my whole life), but it occurs to me again just now, how the emotional connection to a number is absolutely subject to the ?direction ? we are approaching it from. As I am losing weight, I delight in reaching The Same Number I dreaded when I was gaining the weight.

What?s with that? ?Diet culture? is partly this- the misuse of the scales in giving that number reading the power to judge our sense of success or failure when it is our following our personal best for us diet. (Definition of diet for me simply means what anyone in the world generally eats daily- every body is dieting whether weight loss is desired or not). Using a scale or not as a tool to help us is great-giving it the power to determine our self worth.

I just now reread last sentence - totally not where I was going when the dang Gateway thing happened.".. EDITED. Giving it (the scale) the power to determine our self worth is not a good or healthy use of said piece of metal.

I have felt that very same mental phenomenon about a scale number. You are 100% correct!!!! The number triggers different feelings depending upon from which direction we approach it! Amazing how the brain works.

Greetings all

Oops missed yesterday. It was the puppy visit day. Three years old. All three got along pretty well. Few tiffs. Tesla got snarly and had to be banished to the bedroom crate. Don't know why she does that as she was a show dog and fine with other dogs at shows. Must be territorial. Anyway we all had a great time. I ate three cookies. Not sorry. It was a sunny but cool day so we were able to sit out on the deck and let the dogs run the yard all day. Walter's owner is quite the dog trainer and she was teaching Poppy to sit. Today's plans include the studio.

Yep CC Killing Eve is really good but dark. Very compelling. We watched the rest of Sugar. Unknown if there will be season 2 but they certainly set up for it. We started "A Man in Full" last night and it looks like a winner. I had read that book years ago and it's interesting to me how they follow and not follow the book. Yeah we watch way too much tv. Also Elsbeth.

It's sunny again. I got most of the plants planted but there are a couple more. Need a grocery run after studio and then must nag DH to pick up some junk out of the yard so the new yard service doesn't run away screaming.

So CC that mantle looks cool dark. Go for it. What a fun house to be decorating with stone and beams and cool features. Be sure to take before and after.

Ocean Diane why do they want more blood work? Hope all is well. Enjoy the paddling with brand new shoulder and DD. How fun.

Liz what a cool presentation on billboards. Who knew indeed. Old billboards are like the new public art mural trend. Loads of them around here. I so appreciate those.

Bonnie I hope you get the house! We were the first people to see our house here. I thought the market was competitive then but now sheesh. Anyway hope it works.

Time to face reality. Or drink more coffee...
