Weight down 3.6 since last week (12.4 since starting tirezpatide). Wow! But I haven't touched any sweets or had snacks because I haven't been interested and my meals have been small (I get full fast). Really amazing.
Current company leaves this morning - sheet and towel replacement needed in advance of picking up DS tomorrow morning.
If I get any free time I want to watch that Oprah special that CC sent a link for. Then date night tonight (our last night alone for quite a while).
I stopped that yucky medication last night. I hope these blisters start to dry up fast. The weird thing about them is that once they started my ankles stopped swelling. It was like the fluid bypasses them now and goes directly to the exit through the blisters. I am on 3 other BP meds of other classes and when the cardiologist added this one it dramatically lowered my BP even further but it isn't worth the side effects now. Hopefully my recent weight loss will replace the need for it? If not, I see my PCP in 12 days.
I hope you all have a phenomenal Friday!

Just posting again since it was so late last night. https://www.youtube.com/live/v6tbODcAUMs?si=5mAi_3TnilZN8UIN I thought it was good. The CEO of Weigh****chers apologized to the world for contributing to diet culture. Lots of talk about how obesity is not our fault. Lots of personal stories most of us will identify with. Really good guests. There's an endocrinologist towards the end who you wish is your doctor and gives a good explanation about obesity, talks about how the world right now is set up to make us obese (ultra-processed food, etc), and how eat less/move more doesn't work and will never work.
This morning with a rude awakening. First, my house was filled with smoke because of a prescribed burn nearby and me having windows open when I went to bed. Then I took Kirby out to go potty and two birds flew into a window at the same time, Kirby ran over and grabbed one and killed it while I am screaming for him to drop it, the other is still stunned and laying outside. I also need to clean up the dead one. They may be domesticated, but they are animals!
I had several sage plants planted outside on the front of the house yesterday, and the last tree gets moved today. Kirby and I have training for his new eCollar this morning and the trappers come this afternoon. I might walk with my friend if the smoke blows away late afternoon.
The scale was down 0.2 pounds for new low. One more pound left to 30 lost. I was looking at how much I had lost each week and it has dropped quite a bit from the first month. The first month I lost 12, the second 7.4, 5.4 the third, and 4.2 so far in the fourth. So only the first month was crazy great. The rest has been pretty normal.
UPDATE: It's a miracle! I went to get the dead bird and it's gone! And the one that was stunned I saw fly off. No chance for another animal to have gotten the one Kirby had in my enclosed yard. Well, now that I think about it maybe a raven, but let's focus on "miracle"...
What is not a miracle is the fix on my door. The teeth that are supposed to go in the holes on the door, hit the door frame instead. I asked to have him call me. If it's an easy adjustment on my end, I'll do it, but otherwise they're gonna have to do another four hour round-trip to make it right.
I think that's it for me today. I hope you all have a great one!
If it's not one thing it's another (lock). Our friend replaced the flapper in our constantly running toilet but now it needs a new float.
Im convinced it was a bird miracle!
Definitely going to watch the WW link. Now, I am sure that WW is as interested in making money as any other company, but it is hard for me to believe they were in the same league as the process foods industry who purposely created, dare we call it, "food" designed to hook us into craving junk foods uber high in white carbs, sugar, and saturated fats.
I think of WW, TOPS, Overeaters Anonymous and the such, that in their time, were doing the best they knew how in trying to help, just as each of us did and are now doing.
As for the foods industry- A total POX on them!
Let me see what I think about this after I watch the interview.
Oh, and CC, sage is a wonderful plant! Do use the fresh (pull the stem out up through the leaf, drop a bunch in na small but deep sided container and using scissors or food processor, reduce to flakes) and go with a ratio of one loose Tbl =one tsp dry. It will transform any recipe calling for sage in the same way that canned pineapple vs fresh.
The sage plant in our garden after 30 years is about 2 1/2 foot high and with a diameter of about 4 feet. The plant is not 30 years old -(they are biennials), but will lose many leaves and look like, say, berry canes in the winter. They produce beautiful violet flowers that seed the plant for the next season coming up through the existing canes, replacing half of the canes, while the remaining live canes wake up producing leaves. Slowly the plant becomes a beautiful giant.
You've sent me to Google---There are a zillion kind of sage; who knew? Your variety is beautiful. Very small leaves, but the flowers are similar, esp. the color. Ours is (I think) a Salvia officinalis-culinary sage, which smells, well, like sage. So, then what kind of sage do you suppose makes a rolling sage brush? Inquiring minds want to know!
Good morning! I did indeed call in sick, which turns out to be the right decision as I woke up with a pounding headache. It's starting to recede as I drink tea, so I'll probably feel better as the day goes on. I think I'm just over tired. I've had a headache off and on all week, so it feels really good to just be quiet at home.
Liz, what you describe about the swelling makes sense, the fluid is finding a way out. How painful. If you still need an additional medication, I hope there is something with less side effects.
CC, we can figure out each others age by what we watched with our Grandparents. :) Love Boat and Fantasy Island vs. Gunsmoke and HeeHaw.
I weighed myself this morning, and despite some teacher appreciation treats, my weight drifted down to the lowest. Here's where the mind games begin. I'll start hoping for subsequent weigh ins to take me even lower, but instead, I might drift up 2 pounds again.
The visit with my parents went well. They were in a good mood. DD elicits different emotions from them, being their granddaughter. My Mom started talking about trips, and I said Mom, before we put you on a plane, you will need to do some physical therapy. She was not very receptive to this suggestion, but she did not completely dismiss it. I can't imagine how traveling would go when there are mornings she is too weak to get out of bed, or walk down the hallway with her walker. DH and I agree though, that we will entertain her wishes, because it does her no good to say, that's never going to happen. And maybe she will do the PT, which could only be good.
Tomorrow we will see the opera La Boheme. We've seen it a couple times, and really enjoyed it. I was thinking about what to wear and realized I have many more choices than before. Nice!
Your parents may not change (or do PT), but it is really sweet that they want to rise to the occasion for DD.
I do believe in miracles..... So, the bird awakened and flew away! As for Kirby, he was doing what he was bred to do - retrieve. Clearly he used his gentle mouth instinctually - even though you reacted as if he were an Airedale doing the terrier thing! LOL! Me, I would have told him what a good boy he was. I love when dogs do instinctually what they are bred to do. (I can guarantee you had that been one of my dogs the bird would have been dead - most likely decapitated. Rodent's are given broken necks around here and birds have their heads bitten off. Not sure what the difference is, but there certainly is a difference in the way my dogs handle different creatures.)
My tirzepatide arrived yesterday. So I decided to go ahead and take it. This morning I was jittery - not in a bad way, but a bit of a I-drank-a-strong-cup-of-coffee feeling. Not sure if that is a side effect of the med or if the med gives the coffee a little more umph. I drank a Fairlife around 9;30 because I thought I should get something in my gut. I opted out of eating my hard boiled eggs and banana because it just seemed like too much after the Fairlife. It's about 1:30 now and I still need to eat something.
I am wondering if the difference between the semaglutide and the tirzepatide will be noticeable. I know a woman who has done both meds and she believes the tirzepatide is more effective. I am hoping the appetite for sweets will be less on the tirzepatide. I still do like my sweets - even on the semaglutide.
Westminster preparations are almost done. Blitz needs a little more grooming before we leave, but all I need to do other than Blitz's grooming is pack. I'm feeling good about Blitz's conditioning and his weight. Unlike his human dad, Blitz tends to be on the lean side and I have to give him a lot of extra food to get him back into competitive weight. Airedales are supposed to have "body" meaning good muscle and spring of the rib cage. When the dog is too thin, the rib cage flattens out which is no bueno! We fly out Sunday morning. We show Tuesday morning. As I mentioned, I don't expect to win anything, but I will keep you posted.
DD, glad your union is at least getting something. I, too, work in a district that has lower pay than all the surrounding districts. Our insurance is also not as good, BUT I believe our working conditions are far superior than the surrounding districts and that is worth A LOT!
Liz, how nice to have DS visit you in Florida. I hope you have a pleasant visit and it doesn't feel like company. I know when I stay with my aunts I never feel like company. Visiting family is so much easier!
Diane S., I encourage you to at least try a month on semaglutide or tirzepatide. Really is a game changer. I would not lie to you!
Attempt #2 to pick up the RV tomorrow. Fingers crossed. LOL
Fun Friday everyone!
