So I talked to DH about giving me a hard time about buying less than a full meal. I have done that in the past so I'm not sure why this was different but perhaps it was because of his family celebratory meals as DD suggested? Regardless, though he was defensive at first he finally got the point especially when I reminded him that there was no impact to anyone else and it was my business what I wanted to order/eat. He agreed to be alert to not doing it and then actually said it was somewhat inspiring that I could eat that much less. So maybe a little jealousy? Last night we split a burger for dinner. I had no fries and ate about 1/4 of the burger without the bun. Because I couldn't hold it in one hand it had to be all cut up so it wasn't so obvious that I ate less.
It sounds like the timing of when CC and Peps noticed the anti-inflammatory effects of the GLP-1 medications was at the same point where I am noticing a decrease in knee pain. I did do some googling on the research around it and it clearly is not in our heads. They need to do more studies but it appears to delay the damage due to osteoarthritis and the need for cortisone injections. Can it really be that much of a miracle drug?
Regardless, tonight is another tough navigation around food. We are going out with friends to one of the top end restaurants in town. Will have to look at the menu ahead of time to make a plan for what to have.
Time for a Justice walk. Have a minimal Monday!

I don't think I could live on what you eat, Liz! A quarter of a burger would not be enough. But you're much shorter than I am!
We had lots of fun at the artist's open houses yesterday. I bought a large basket from a gourd basket artist (combination of gourds, basket material, weaving, beads..). Her work was really cool. And a platter from a ceramics artist. And a painting I need to go back and pick up. We did go to one woman's home studio that left us in stitches. Really bright kind if garish paintings with random UFOs and aliens painted in. We left smelling like incense, patchouli, and burnt sage. Blech! Amy bought a small painting from her out of kindness, a basket, a really cool huge flowering saguaro cactus painting, and Cathy bought a really neat vase with glass and ceramics mixed. Then exhausted, we stopped for lunch.
Today I need to call Costco to check on my prescription. I can' tell if they have it because the statuses keep changing to nonsensical things like telling me it will be ready 5 days ago... so if on the off chance it's ready, I will go get it.
The scale was up nearly a pound. Argh!
I think that's all from me. Take care!
Sounds like you had a great day overall!
Keep in mind that the burger was 10 oz so 1/4 was 2.5-3 oz. But yes I am height compromised so that when I am in my preferred weight range my average calories need to be around 1300. So I need to take in quite a bit under 1000 calories to lose
Greetings all
Early check in today since I will be at gallery and elsewhere until early evening.
Liz glad you addressed meal issues. People don't get it until you explain so good that you did. Never thought about a one handed hamburger but it makes sense. Bet you can't wait to be over the shoulder healing. You are right that hamburgers are huge these days.
CC the art tour sounds like a hoot! A pleasing mix of good stuff plus kitsch. We have an open studios tour here in June and our gallery participates. It's fun to see where and how stuff is made. Glad you found some cool things. Sounds very southwest.
Tree rats! Had no idea that meant squirrels but should have as a native midwesterner. We had enormous ones that loved to taunt the dogs. Out here I never see any. Too many predators I think. Ditto rabbits.
DH finally has his crown repair tomorrow and it will be a good thing. Sort of have to stay away from chewy stuff all this time. Steak here we come!
I was spared another Ben Franklin last night. I don't think DH likes it either. Peaky Blinders is just way more exciting.
No clue whats for dinner tonight. Need to cruise by the deli. The sun is out and it should be a great day here!

Weight holding steady! Yay! I love that my "fat" show dress shirts are getting super loose in the neck. I don't much like anything tight on my neck (even crew neck t shirts!). I would like to be in my normal size shirts again, but that will come soon enough.
My semaglutide "magic" comes and goes. I am really having to keep tabs on my eating disorder thinking... It plays games wtih me... It whispers to me, "You've eaten so little today, go ahead... have that extra dessert." or "Remember, you're not dieting. There is nothing wrong with chocolate or cookies or ice cream or candies... Go ahead, have a quick snack." Yesterday I really tried to keep tabs on true hunger and hunger cues. While the semaglutide seems to reduce the "noise" I do notice that some of my hard wired eating disorder behaviors are not affected by the semaglutide. So, managing those behaviors (eating to avoid, eating to relieve stress, eating to manage transitions) are all on me. Of course, those were never hunger/physical issues. I suppose that actually makes a great deal of sense.
Nice schedule for me today. State testing is underway. I got to start on hour later than normal and my last class ends 50 minutes before my normal time. I'll take any gifts of time the district affords me! Tomorrow, they have me combining two classes into one. That should be a hoot! LOL!
Thanks for the kind and supportive words about the dogs, etc... I do think Dog Show people are in general very good with their dogs. Of course, just like in any field, there are bad eggs in the show world, too. But overall, most of us are excellent custodians of our breed specific dogs.
Am looking forward to a relaxing Monday afternoon. Hoping to get a good workout and puppy playing in!
I can attest to the variable impact of the semiglutides. I've used them for a year. On every dosage I've had food aversion, days when I'm hungry, days when I'm hungry but I just can't eat, days when food is appealing but I'm full in 3 bites, and some days when I can eat a small, but actual serving. Sometimes it tracks with when I took my last dose, and sometimes the restriction comes with no rhyme or reason. What is consistent is that overall, I cannot consume the same serving sizes I was eating before.
I don't know if it will always be this way. Maybe our bodies will find a way to overcome the treatment, and hunger and capacity will come back. As long as my insurance will pay, I will continue taking Wegovy. We'll see what happens.
So yesterday in between theater and French dining, DH read up on our furnace. He narrowed it down to the part he thought was malfunctioning and was researching where to buy the part. Then he decided to take a wrench and lightly tap on the identified part, and our furnace started!!! Part probably still needs to be replaced at some point, but he bought us some time. When he pulls off these things, as he often does, I can't help but sing that song, "What a man, what a man, what a mighty fine man" . Of course any gender can perform such miracles, but since I am completely lacking in any mechanical aptitude, I just am amazed and delighted at what he can do.
We are still really enjoying Cheap Irish Houses on Amazon Prime. Unlike House Hunters, everyone is so congenial and they say such fun things like, the wiring looks a bit dodgy, doesn't it? Or, it's a cozy feel. And they are very into the condition of the roofs, and talk about how there is or isn't damp in the house. Apparently keeping water out of old Irish farmhouses is quite a battle.
