I have a full on war with the tree rats, I'm assuming squirrels? They are fine to live in my yard if they leave my bedding plants alone, stop chewing my deck furniture and outdoor string lights and walking under my chair while I'm reading my paper on the porch. We are harassing them in various non lethal ways (lethal, not being allowed in city limits) so that parts of our yard our inhospitable. It seems to be working pretty well.
Greetings all
Sun is out big time and life is good. I spent some time at the studio making owls and glazing. Kiln opens tomorrow and I will hopefully have some salable stuff. I will pick it up and get to the gallery at 1;30 until 5. Hoping it will be slow. The art night was quite fun even though I did not want to do it. Saw a few people I had not seen in years so that was fun. Ate one very small brownie. I am proud of myself for just eating one as I sat there for an hour in front of the tray. Lots of people were out and about in this little town. There was some sort of concert and art shows at the winery and restaurants. A very pure dose of small town life.
Had a weird meal of cottage cheese and some egg salad which was fine. Now having hummus and crackers.
CC my dogs won't sleep at the foot of the bed. They have to sardine themselves right next to me. They don't do that to DH. When our nephew was here, they ditched me and chose him. Same deal. Maybe the couch should be by invitation only for Kirby. LOL like that would work here in our house. Dogs get up on the back of the sofa behind me like gargoyles looming and watching me eat.
Tree rats Bonnie150! I don't blame Swann for murderous impulses. Don't think I have ever seen a tree rat but sounds awful. Nice that you have space for those dog walks. Yeah the midwest got hit pretty bad with storms.
Liz I sometimes think the food pushers think they are being hospitable or gracious in urging more eating. Maybe approach the issue in those terms. Meanwhile meatball appetizer sounds grand. Good idea.
Peps hoping you win today as big as yesterday. And congrats on the semiglutide low. May there be more.
We watched the White house news dinner show last night. Not very good but DH was interested. Hope we have something better to watch as we eat pot pie tonight.
Not much else. I have a few business chores to do for the studio and gallery and there is always banking. I missed my walk yesterday due to the gallery event but will do it today.

Thankfully, tree rats are not really rats at all. It's just what Kurt calls squirrels- can't hardly blame them for hanging around; there are 11 or so great walnut trees on the property. Prime real estate and I'm certain they have a homeowners' association because we've been served with a cease and desist order against allowing Swann roam off leash (Article 4, section 7 on page 47 of the binding covenant we supposedly signed in '94 when we moved here). I don't remember signing that document. May just have to take this one to court.
Liz, does DH go into food pushing mode when he's with his family, or has he done this in other settings? It sounds like they might have an eating for recreation culture. I've noticed people being uncomfortable when I'm not joining in, as they see it, the fun. Lime Peps said, he probably doesn't know he's doing it.
Today's argh moment: our furnace stopped working. Its in the high 40s and rainy, so I would certainly have run the furnace today. But, small mercies, it's not deep into a cold winter day. I'll likely survive in a 62 degree house, but I'm not going to like it! DH will be on it tomorrow.
We had matinee tickets today for Henry IV. It was so well done, and satisfying. I compare to having a really good meal that hits all the senses. They had a short discussion panel afterwards, and it was very enlightening to hear the principle actors talk about how they prepared for the roles, and their philosophy to approaching Shakespeare. We had dinner at a French Bistro we enjoy. I have leftovers for lunch!
Right now we are hanging out in the family room, with logs crackling in the fireplace, and a space heater humming. All very cozy, until I need to leave the cocoon to use the bathroom etc.
Our Union let us know that only 9 members didn't vote, and those that did vote were overwhelmingly YES for strike authorization. So 99% of members voted yes. Hopefully that shows the district how resolved we are to hold out for a fair settlement. This ain't no fooling around!
