4 days to warmth! Luckily today and tomorrow are going to be sunny but rainy and windy our last 3 days including the day we need to see my surgeon in Boston and the day we fly south.
My arm is better day by day though it feels like it weighs 100 pounds. But Justice is not feeling well this morning. He feels like twice his weight sleeping in my lap as he is so limp. His digestive system is probably causing him discomfort from avoiding the outdoors during the rain - these little chihuahua systems are so sensitive.
The plan today is to take down pictures I want shipped to Florida, take a shower, take a walk, then go out for an early date night. I may try migrating from the recliner to a wedge pillow in bed as that is what I will be using in Florida. Over the next few days I need to think about what I need to have in Florida to manage the 4 more weeks of having an ineffective arm. The reality of managing the last couple of days has made me realize that my usual bras aren't going to work and that I will need to be in full button/full zip tops though a very loose stretchy tee shirt might work. Since most of my tops are over the head I won't be able to wear them.
I am also going to start the process for tirezpatide today. I think I might have lost a bit of weight since surgery but I can't really tell (I don't think I have gained much if any regardless). I'll have to give them my weight prior to the surgery. DD is starting her second week on semaglutide and has noticed a little appetite reduction but not a lot. But I think our group is better at assessing those changes due to our VSG experiences.
On to confronting the day! Have a significant Saturday!
on 3/30/24 7:53 am
I have to imagine our smaller stomachs make the drug that much more powerful as far as appetite suppression goes. If everyone gets fuller sooner, and our equipment is significantly less volume than theirs, we are getting fuller a whole lot sooner than an intact person.
I've had a headache the past two days. I think it may be dehydration which would explain the fast drop mid week. I'm up 1.4 from that low, not having eaten much. I'm having some electrolytes in my water this morning. It definitely gets you back to hydrated faster than plain water.
The gardeners are apparently coming today. I think I got skipped in the weather earlier this month. It's super weedy out there. My pots came. They are wrapped on a pallet, so I need to unwrap and figure out how to move them from the driveway to the yard without breaking anything. I can talk to the landscaper about moving some irrigation close to them today too.
I ordered a new vacuum, ever in the pursuit of actually wanting to clean my house. It's a Dyson cordless stick vac with a much larger canister than normal (for fur). Wow. Not being connected by a short cord than has to be unplugged and replugged 10 times during the whole house experience is kind of life changing. It was not the full body workout that vacuuming usually is here! The battery lasts an hour, which is way more time than I need. And why DO they make vacuum cords so darned short?? I can't even do my whole family room without moving the cord once.
That might be all for today. The tidying I didn't do yesterday, playing with my new vacuum, unwrapping pots, talking to the landscaper, and walking Kirby. A beautiful day to do it all too.
Take care all!
Good point about our tummies with the meds.
Doesn't it feel great to be thinking about planting for more consistent warmer weather? Just the sun being out here makes me feel good.
And you will love your Dyson Cordless vac. I got myself one a few years ago when my eldest DD said they were life changing. They really are!
Liz, here is some inspiration. Today, I climbed a three step stool, removed six sheer panels from their rods on the screened porch, put them in to wash/dry pollen off. I hosed down and scrubbed six panels of screening, and rehung the sheers. I did MOST of this with my "surgery shoulder". I have been released from PT, and it is actually amusing that many of the exercises mimic the cleaning motions I used today. If your bed in FL is not electric, you might want to have a stretch exercise band to help hoist yourself up off the bed with your good arm and band looped around foot.

Wow! Things one doesn't think about! Sounds like you are doing great. I'm just glad not to be in the pain I had the first week.
CC, I think you are so right about this medication having a bigger impact on us post surgery people. DH can still eat what to me is a normal amount of food, although it is less food than before. Liz, if your daughter wants to make the most of her meds, she might want to look into Weigh****chers. DH loses the best when he uses it. Left to his own decision making, he could still eat around the effects of the medication in some situations. 4 years ago he lost weight with WW. He says he likes the current program better, and it's a lot easier to follow with the help of Wegovy.
I might look at WW again also. I'm not doing the best at eating well. The last time I did WW, I thought it was a good program for maintenance eating. It seems to guide you towards more healthy, thoughtful choices. Yesterday dinner was half a corn dog, followed later by an orange. This morning I had my usual Saturday morning 1/2 of a scone, and plain tea. I am making myself drink a protein shake right now, before I go work out. I'll try to think more about protein for dinner tonight. Maybe eggs? The only protein I have much interest in is cheese and milk.
Plans for today: work out, clean the bathroom, and finish packing. We head out to the airport in the afternoon. Our flight leaves at 3:30pm, so we should arrive at Nashville at a decent time.
Greetings all
Overcast today but we spent the morning playing video games with nephew. Nintendo bowling. Kind of fun. Also dueling at old Dr. Mario game that I used to play all the time years ago. I am not very good anymore. Oh well. Fun. Then I showed nephew how to make scrambled eggs in microwave. He does keto so he likes it.
Liz sounds like Ocean Diane has a great idea with large rubber band. Ocean D you sound like you are doing so well with shoulder!! Yay, are you 100% or close? And Liz I did not think about bras but now that I do, seems like a real issue. Hope you find a solution. Yeah maybe just big loose shirts and go natural. Good luck on the med research.
CC your hypothesis about these meds working better for WLS patients makes sense. You are on to something. I wish I knew what Dr, Cirangle would say about all this but I think he is retired.
So yesterday we did that skywalk. I was worried about my ability to do that much walking but I did ok with a couple of sit breaks. We parked a block or two away and its few more to the sky walk and then its a series of very long ramps to get to 100 feet above and then the walk around. I skipped one of the swinging bridges but did all the rest. I am positive if I had not been doing the treadmill walks that I could not have done this. So a little bit does a lot at least for me.
Stick vac sounds great. I would get one if I ever vacuum. Our house keeper does not like them. Modern vacuums are not that good. I had this hoover dialamatic 40 years ago that was the best. Well designed and effective.
DD enjoy your Saturday routine. We got lattes late yesterday for the nephew and it was great. Forgot what a lift you can get from afternoon coffee. Also a lift that someone else makes it.
Yes getting enough protein when you are not especially hungry is a challenge. Early after vsg I resorted to those protein gel shots to get enough when fluid volume was an issue. They were awful but small. If milk tastes good then why can't whey based protein taste decent.
Our friend in the hospital took a turn for the worse and has heart blockages. They did a stent but Monday morning are doing a double bypass. This person turns 80 on monday. We are all pretty worried.
Peps sorry you have Easter hell. It will pass(over) tee hee. Hope Ron gets the medical attention he needs.
Sunday we go to casino for easter dinner. Our group has dwindled and it may seem weird without the missing members.
Nephew goes to airport in a couple of hours. He might get bumped to a later flight due to voucher offer. works for us.
Not much else. Trying to figure out what to do with this big ham I got for nephew which is unopened. Freezer I guess.
Not much else. DH has heart test Monday which takes 4 or 5 hours. Then at 5 pm he has dentist. Other car is still in the shop.
