Yesterday was a pretty good day. I took a walk around the neighborhood, then we rode by the beaches, and I did a short walk around the grocery store. I haven't taken the heavy painkillers for more than 24 hours so I think I am done with them. Though my shoulder ached when getting to Tylenol time it wasn't unbearable.
Today is supposed to be a complete washout but it isn't raining yet. But I may not make it outside today. It should clear later in the afternoon tomorrow so hopefully I can get out at least a bit each day until we leave for Florida on Wednesday afternoon.
My appetite has definitely kicked up. I was very hungry this morning though I did keep to small meals yesterday.
Not much else to report. I am copying/pasting this elsewhere before pressing Submit because I received several gateway error messages on OH this morning. Wish me luck!
Have a thrifty Thursday!
ETA: Of course it went through quickly because I had saved the text!

Yay, Liz! So glad you're healing well and moving around! That should help get other things moving too. Ahem.
It's a sunny balloon day here. Rain this weekend. Yay! So much drought in the west, you can't wish away rain. Though I think Flagstaff getting another 11" of snow the last day of March won't be all that excited.
The day after my shot I often have a scale woosh. I feel like there is something else at work other than appetite suppression. I was 2 pounds lighter this morning.
Given my new aversion to meats (I'm eating soft, bon-textured ones), I did break down and get some Fairlife shakes. Blech. But needs must as the Brits say. Also purchased at Costco was their solid white canned tuna. Those are still in the size I remember tuna used to come in - 5oz drained. I couldn't eat a whole one yesterday. There is a distinct disinterest in food.
My cold is still colding. Oh that moment when you wake up and think you might be better! Then you sit up and everything starts running again. Boo. It's just on the left side too (left nostril, left eye watering, left ear clogged), so the right will catch it next.
I think that's all I currently know! Off to make my eggs and another coffee.
Happy Thursday all!
Apparently today is my 8th surgiversary! One of the best things I ever did. It will be interesting to see how the new drugs change approaches to obesity. Right now it seems like many peoole are inclined to try the drugs before embarking on surgery.
Today is shot day. My swing this week was not as large as in previous weeks. Like CC I drop quickly after the shot, then go up and down the rest of the week. I'll see where I end up tomorrow, but it looks like this week is going to be a 2 pound down week. That's actually a good rate. Isn't it recommended to not lose more than 1 percent of body weight each week? I can't remember. I'm also so glad that it seems the gut issues were unrelated to the shot!
I had to buy a new pair of jeans. The zipper on my favorite pair broke. Boooo..... So, I took a risk and bought a smaller size. While they are tight around the middle, they do fit and feel like a proper fit everywhere else. (Being a product of the 1980s, I still like well fitting jeans that accentuate and show off a butt - none of the droopy drawers for this old man! LOL)
The compound is NOT covered because it's off label. The nutritional counseling should be covered, but now they require proof of medical necessity. The trick is that my doc can't authorize the counseling because then my HMO would have to pay for it. But he did write me a letter saying he has treated me for an eating disorder since 2008 and the nutritional counseling will benefit me medically. So, we'll see if they hold my money hostage. Such a crock! I'm going to have to save every damn receipt now for anything medical. Such a sham! IRS is making it so easy for these companies to keep client money.
Thrilling, thriving, thoughtful, thrifty Thursday to one and all....
Yeah to Liz getting out of the house. Continued healing! CC chicken was my nemesis after surgery, and the meds are bringing that back. I can eat steak though, if I cut it in tiny bites, use steak sauce and eat slowly. Peps I do think the FSA problems are a crock. Mine requires so much paperwork submissions for things that are clearly covered. What non medical thing could be going on at an oncology clinic?
Tomorrow I have online professional development. It doesn't start until 8:30 am, so I'll be able to sleep in. Yeah! After the training, we're off until Monday April 8. That's also a professional development day, so no students until April 9.
Negotiations did not go well. The 2 biggest issues that caused us to turn down the last settlement are still in this offer. The Union meets after school on April 9. Seems likely we will call for a strike vote. If 67% of us vote to strike, we have a 10 day cooling off period. After that we can strike. I think a strike authorization expires after 30 days, so if we do this, we will probably be striking May 1. I hope not. But I don't understand what the district is doing. To come back with basically the same offer we rejected with 99% of the vote, what is the strategy? To wear us down? It just seems to be firing everyone up. Anyhow, I will not think about it anymore until break is over.
The weather forecast for Nashville is kind of all over the place, 58 one day, 80 another. This will take some thought when I start packing. Sticking to carry on only as I usually try to do.
Greetings all
Rain off and on today. On right now. Lots of wind last night and Tesla was wigged out.
Nephew is here and we are having fun. He has had a number of work conference calls. It's fun to listen to him being a grown up. But listening to them is like being in a foreign country. He does all this computer stuff for the film industry and I have no clue what they are saying. He manages a team and after their weekly conference they all play this video game.
Had a zoom meeting for the studio. One of our long term board members is leaving. She will be missed. Time marches on I guess.
Pot roast last night turned out great. I think it was the comfort food nephew needed. More tonight. He is cold here because it is 55 degrees.
Liz glad you are up and about. Eat what you feel you need. You probably need what you crave.
CC interesting about meat. I agree with DD chicken was harder to eat than beef. Anyone besides me think that tuna is good with cottage cheese?
New jeans Peps. Yay, Good luck with flexible spending accounts. I am sure the paperwork is absurd.
DD if you all have to strike then so be it. It's confounding that your administrators can't do better. The kids are the ones that lose.
Not much else. Cheers. Diane S
