Very bad night last night- the nerve block wore off and I had to take the heavy painkillers again but they didn't work enough. So essentially no sleep. I am waiting for the doctor's office to get back to me.
Sorry to be Debbie-downer. I thought I had turned a corner over the weekend but now feel like I am in worst shape than at any other day post-surgery.
I hope you will all have a better day!
I didn't come home with a nerve block, and used the heavy duty pain meds every four hours, 24/7 for the first three weeks, whi*****luded starting PT. Don't let the pain get ahead of you. So sorry you are suffering !

Liz, you are never a downer! I do hope you start to feel far less pain ASAP!
So, I can't remember if I posted that my semaglutide dose doubled on Thursday. Luckily, it did not cause a rebound of the gut issues, so I'm guessing I did have a virus of some type that caused that horrible gut flow! I had one set of mild cramps post shot (either Friday or Saturday - I forget now) and that was that.
I am now down 17 pounds in 4 plus weeks. Probably a little too fast, but it is what it is. I am finding I can eat a little more than in the first weeks, but somedays I just really don't feel hunger and just a little bit of something will be enough. I am doing my level best to get enough protein, but it's not easy. I have been craving fruit and then protein. Like today, the only thing that sounded really good for lunch when I was packing up a lunch was an apple and hard boiled eggs. So, that's what I packed. Sort of an odd "craving" don't you think?
Dog show weekend wa**** and miss, but ended on a very high note. Molly won Reserve Best in Show Owner Handled. That means she beat all the other dogs, except for one, in the entire show that were owner handled. Pretty good for a pup who isn't even 2 years old! The day before the Airedale judge snubbed her. You never know what a judge is going to do. Thus the motto: Another day, another dog show.
CC, can't say I blame you for stopping the Fridays subscription. You are already getting the "real deal". But for me, the compound is the route I need to take. IF I decide to go with the tirzapetide, I may see about getting a Zepbound prescription and coupon and ordering direct.
Merry Monday!
Hard boiled eggs are good protein. That's what I have been eating for lunch through this (with cottage cheese) because it goes down easy.
Much better now. I iced all morning and DH is picking up the new painkiller script phoned in by my surgeon's office. I guess with the portable nerve block some people can be off the major stuff in less than a week but clearly not me. The physician's assistant emphasized calling for a new script if I need it in advance of running out and said to not try to go without yet.
And I had a shower. Amazing how clean hair, scalp and body can make one feel so much better.
Liz, good to see things are better this afternoon than this morning. I'll add my voice to the chorus that you should use painkillers as needed. You shouldn't have to suffer. And you are never a Debbie Downer.
Peps and CC , I can't express how happy I am about the success you're having with these meds. We've all been together on the various weight loss attempts, the times it was going okay, the times we were white knuckling it, the moments of feeling hopeless. How wonderful to have a new, effective tool.
Well no snow day today. The snow turned to rain during the night, so the roads were sloppy, but not dangerous. Some of my students are so uncivil, and at times, vulgar. Today they were insulting each other by saying, do you have downs syndrome? My reaction was pretty heated, so I don't think they'll say it again in my class. This is my life this year. I like them all individually, which I tell them frequently, but as a group, their behavior is sometimes appalling.
Tomorrow we have a big rally for upcoming negotiations. Hoping the negotiations go well on Wednesday, and we don't have to move onto a strike vote.
Greetings all
A big day by my standards. First I did an expedition to CVS as I had a list of supplements to get plus my favorite coffee. I was also looking for a small item to take to my friend in the hospital who is getting dialysis. She is diabetic so no easter candy. I found two cute little toys. One is a little chick that chirps when you hold it. The other is some kind of little rubber bunny that lights up when you squeeze it. I hope she is not insulted when I give her toys. She loves knick knacks and once gave her husband a Harry Potter wand for Christmas.
After CVS I went to the studio and made some stuff and then on to the grocery store. I bought a lot of stuff since the nephew is on the way. Pot roast plus a half ham. Can freeze what we don't eat. We will likely go up to Trees of Mystery - a touristy place but it has a gondola ride up into the redwood canopy. Kind of fun and we can take ham instead of eating their icky stuff. Great native american art collection. '
Liz glad you are getting some relief. Ice and more ice. Plus a shower is indeed healing. Glad you got more meds and instructions to not be shy about it.
Peps Reserve Owner BIS! Yay!! Friends this is a really big deal. Judged superior over hundreds of dogs! Molly rocks. Kudos to Peps exquisite grooming. And you can't go wrong with eggs and apples. Funny you mentioned apples as I just craved some also and have not had any in months. Brought home some honey crisps.
Expecting a call any time on the old car. It may not be done until tomorrow which is no big deal except the logistics of getting to the place some distance away plus my scrabble and planned hospital visit. Getting to and from that place is kind of the Bataan death march.
CC good luck with the Zepbound. All of you are doing well with these meds. One of the news channels had a big show recently but I only saw part.
DD I remember as a kid we used to call each other "retards". How bad was that. Kids that talk like that probably have families that talk like that. Why does teaching require so much teaching of basic manners?
