Early quick update while I can. The major nerve block wore off just after midnight (I have a mini one for 5 days but it just dulls it all a bit). All the medications are in child-proof bottles so I had to call DH upstairs after crying and struggling to open the painkiller ones. I tried to ignore it for about 2 hours prior by watching TV but probably let it get too far. So I'm on painkillers and stool softeners (plus dry crackers or anti-nausea meds) for at least today so there will be a lot of sleeping.
Not much else to report other than that it is about 30 out with howling wind but I guess it doesn't affect me.
Have a thriving Thursday!
Oh, Liz.... please don't skimp with the pain meds! It's hard to catch pain once it's reached a certain level. Best to stay on the loopy side while the pain is still strong. So glad Mike was there to come to your aid!
On the family medical front: Ron is on Cipro to battle the "super" bladder infection he does indeed have. My dad had two trips via ambulance to the ER in 4 days. Sunday's trip was warranted because he had fallen and needed to be checked. On that trip they discovered he had an RSV infection. Not a wonderful infection for a 94 year old to contract. Yesterday he thought he had a pill lodged in his throat. He didn't, but wound himself up that he became short of breath and then that scared him, too. The dementia is really begin to take a toll.
Today marks 4 weeks on the semaglutide compound. After last week's gut bout, I'm a little concerned about upping my dose today. I will do it because I do need to know whether or not I had a gut virus or I really did have side effects from the meds. Yet, weighing a day or two of gut discomfort and inconvenience per week against the feelings of satiety and the quieting of food noise and appetite, I have to say the benefits of the med win for me.
We had a very public performance yesterday in the downtown open air shopping mall. My superintendent was so pleased and in such a good mood because of the communities reception to our music. During our chat afterwards I mentioned about Blitz getting an invite to Westminster. She was thrilled for me. So much so that I now have 3 paid days to go to Westminster. Yippee! One of the benefits of working in a district with only 5 elementary schools, a k-8 school and one middle school.
Off to a dog show tonight. It's a good week to be "sick" tomorrow. Wink, wink....
Thoughtful, thankful, thriving Thursday to all.....
I hope the antibiotics work quickly for Ron. Urinary infections can be dangerous.
Love that your superintendent is supportive of your Westminster trip!

Oh you poor thing! So important to stay ahead of pain early on. And darn those child proof caps especially with one arm out of commission!
The scale jumped a bit this morning. No reason. I did the compound shot yesterday. Trying not to overthink and attempt to compare the two. I'm doing a lot of overthinking today! I keep walking through my house inhaling deeply trying to see if I smell any more mildew and looking at every wall. The wall over my bedroom door has really changed in the last day with cracking from the water intrusion. They are coming Monday to fix the roof, but Sunday brings a half inch of rain. I can't tell where the leak is or I'd put a tarp up there... sigh. Drywall repairs in my future.
Kirby had a little scare last night. He had the zoomies and parkoured off the couch, hit the sharp corner of the coffee table, landed hard and started crying and holding his paw in the air. I gently touched all along the leg and couldn't tell where he hurt it. He limped a while, then we went to bed with me thinking we needed a vet appointment in the morning. This morning he was absolutely fine and jumping around like the Tigger he is. Puppies.
He has class today, but no other plans.
That's all from here! Take care all. Glad your concert was a success!
Greetings Peeps Peps and Pups
Another great sunny day here. Finally got info on our old crappy SUV. Gonna cost a couple k to fix it. I would kind of like to junk it but DH want to keep it a bit so I said ok. Gives us time to new car shop. He seems attached to the old heap. Oh well. Seems to be against his religion to throw anything away.
Oh Liz so sorry you are having pain. Peps is right, keep ahead of it. The next day or two will be the hardest so don't hesitate to speak up. Those child proof caps are hideous! They would give me those after I had hand surgery! Why don't they ask that when they fill something? I hope you are finding some good tv and amusements. Wishing you a speedy recovery. When do you have a follow up with doctor?
Gosh Peps you have a lot going on. I had been wondering how your Dad was doing. Sorry he has infection and hope it can be cleared. Also hoping he is not frightened or uncomfortable. Yay on paid days for Westminster!! What a cool school district. Where are this weekend's shows? BTCA specialty was this past week and Ardith did well in puppy sweeps. Wishing you luck at the shows as well as calm gut.
Operation Jordan is still underway. DH finally has all the junk out of there except a foot locker. At least stuff is cleared off the bed so I can do sheets. I am having a less pain day so good time to get on it. So much washing to be done. All the couch covers and blankets have dog footprints.
Hmmm CC so Kirby got an ouchie. Likely nothing if he seems fine. Amazing what puppies do. He has such an impish face. Roof leak!!! Not fun. Home maintenance can be overwhelming sometimes. Everytime I think we need a bigger house I remind myself of the geometric increase in responsibilities.
DD yoo hoo! Getting ready for trip I bet.
Shrimp for tonight.

I see the doctor just before I fly back if all goes well. I was on the phone with the anesthesiologist for quite a while today though about pain management right now (he called me).
I don't seem to have the nausea with the painkillers that I usually have maybe because the pain is so significant? But I do have trouble keeping my eyes open for about 75% of each cycle.
Btw DS is making pot roast for dinner - smells fantastic (good thing I'm not nauseous).
Pot roast smelling good is a good sign! How nice that the anesthesiologist called to help. Seems like pain management is a fad that comes and goes. Used to be they were really conservative about pain drugs then the thought changed to be generous. Glad they are forthcoming. I say doze all you can. Stay warm. ds
When my mom had pancreatic cancer one of the nurses refused to give my mom morphine as needed for pain while she was in the hospital for an unrelated matter. The oncologist came to see my mom and found out she was in pain and ripped the entire nursing staff a new one, got on the phone and then ripped the attending physician an even bigger one. My mom's morphine script got changed to "as patient requests"! As the oncologist told the nurse, "I can't do anything about her cancer, but I can sure as hell keep her out of pain and comfortable!"
I'll add one more voice to the chorus of use your pain meds! If they make you sleepy, great! You need to sleep as part of your healing. That's your only job right now, to heal well.
Glad to be home from work. A little bit of snow has started, but the big storm is supposed to be Sunday. Sometimes these storms get way over hyped, so who knows what will happen. It's still a ways out.
Diane, we like to drive our cars into the ground. There usually comes a point when DHs car becomes too much for me, and I refuse to ride in it. He gets every mile out of it. The trick in his opinion, is to bring it to the scrap yard while its still driveable, but just barely. You get more money if you can drive it in, vs towing it in. I don't mind driving an older car, but the minute it strands me, I'm done.
CC, we have had some water getting into the house issues. My kids claim I'm a water witch and I unintentionally call/pull water to me. Perhaps you are also a water witch, unaware of your mystical powers. Sorry you have to deal with so many house issues. Do you think the previous owners deferred a lot of upkeep? Month by month you will set your beautiful house right.
Peps love that you can go to Westminster with some paid time off. When you're out, do they get a sub for you? Certain specialties are difficult to cover.
