Two days to surgery. Of course all the usual thoughts of whether I should really do this are going through my head. Though my shoulder has been uncomfortable lately I have managed it. But I have to keep reminding myself of how bad it was in August when I decided it was time to deal with it.
Corned beef and cabbage last night was quite good but I didn't eat much and I only had one bite of DH's bread pudding. Probably more nerves but hopefully I don't go the other direction with eating while I am bored sitting around for 2 weeks post-surgery. It is supposed to be cold for late March while we are there but I guess it doesn't matter much since I will be doing nothing.
We leave in about 2.5 hours for errands, then the airport. Not much to do before that because the minimal packing needed has been done. We are bringing one carry-on suitcase, one backpack, and one Justice in bag. The goal is for DH to be able to carry it all back when we return south on April 3.
Time to get clean with the antimicrobial soap . Have a mainly good Monday!

How fast time flies, Liz! When I start hemming and hawing about doing something like this, I think, "will it get better on its own if I do nothing?" If the answer is no, better to have it done than wait for it to get worse. And often waiting to fix something and racking up addition deterioration sometimes means the fix is even harder. (I admit I'm thinking about my patio grout for this analogy!)
It's a sunny and gusty day here in AZ. Kirby is curled up in a chair snoozing. Dogs have it so easy. Wake me up demanding breakfast at 6:15, eat, then attack me for 30 minutes, then take a nap. Must be nice!
The scale was down another 0.8 today. I had eggs and bacon for breakfast, the last of the ground beef/cheese and pretzel crisps for lunch, chicken and half an acorn squash for dinner, and berries with plain greek yogurt for dessert. Meat intensive, but I really am trying to get enough protein without shakes.
I need to walk Kirby, call the door people, and go get my water cooler jug filled. I got a new vacuum attachment I want to try out for vacuuming the rock walls (fireplace, main hallway). They seem really dusty and dusting doesn't seem to do anything.
Off to make some eggs. I made extra bacon yesterday too, so I'll have that as well. Off Zepbound, there was no such thing as "extra bacon".
Safe travels to Liz, and hope to hear how Molly did at her dog show, Peps! Take care all!
Merry month of March, sunny skies of blue..... That's what we have here today! It is beautiful spring weather. Creek willows and oaks are budding out with that soft green I adore.....
I had a really hard weekend with gut issues. Not sure if it was caused by the med or something that's been going around the schools. Noro virus is apparently running rampant, too. So far my gut issues with the semaglutide have been just a little rumbly tummy and constipation. The was the exact opposite - cramps and nothing but frequent liquid BMs, some with urgency. Yes, TMI.... But it led to very little eating over the weekend which caused a significant drop in weight. I'm down 16 pounds now from starting the shots. I expected to be down a few pounds today, but not an additional 6!
CC, isn't it amazing how the Zepbound takes away the drive for more and then the thoughts of "I know there is extra bacon. Eat it, eat it, EAT IT!!!" With the med on board it's more like, "Isn't it nice you made extra bacon to save yourself some time and effort tomorrow? Good for you. I'm looking forward to enjoying then..."
A dog show friend was telling me that she learned drinking coffee first thing in the morning releases cortisol (which can hinder weight loss????). She started eating a little bit of protein before her coffee which supposedly stops or reduces the amount of cortisol released. That one change kick started her stalled weight loss. Something to ponder. Problem for me is that on the med I'm not hungry in the morning - well really I'm not hungry most of the time.
I took today off from school. After a weekend of Montezuma's Revenge I felt drained. On top of that, I get home and Ron is in a lot pain. The advice nurse and phone doc think he either popped yet another hernia or he has a "super" bladder infection. He was in so much pain last night I was worried he wouldn't be able to drive himself to his doctor appt. today, so I also wanted to be available for that. So, I'm having a relaxing morning and praying that I don't have any more gut issues today.....
Greetings all
Another blue day with a mix of clouds. Can't beat it.
DH decided today was the day to have our ancient SUV towed to the dealer for diagnostic work. I personally think it's toast but he wants to check it. He is out dealing with the tow truck now. I am grateful he likes that stuff. I hate it. I would rather sit here and drink coffee and watch tv.
Speaking of coffee, interesting about coffee releasing cortisol. I am definitely a coffee first thing person my entire life since law school. Who knew? I am going to try this. Now I just have to come up with protein I can tolerate first thing. GY maybe? And Peps sorry your gut is upset. Bet it is the norovirus and not meds. Hope you and Ron both feel better soon and Ron does not have something serious.
Finally got my passport renewal filled out and ready to go. I only have about 6 days before the renew by mail option closes. After that its go find a notary to apply for replacement title for the soon-to-be junker car. Then payroll and who knows what else. Big girl panties worn today. More will be needed this week for car shopping.
CC your decision making method is a good one. Will I need to do this in the foreseeable future? If so, do it now. Makes sense.
We are still watching Peaky Blinders. Violent but intriguing.
A good friend is in the hospital and is not doing well. Multiple issues. We are worried. I will stop in briefly tomorrow when I go to scrabble since it's not far. I have been asking around about what I can do but short visit is the only thing so far. I am also worried about her husband as he is not in great shape either.
DH got quite a bit done on Operation Jordan this morning. Various items are scattered about but they are out of guest room. Yay.
Liz wishing you safe travels and easy surgery. We respect you for getting on with it. "Justice IN A Bag" such an image.
No clue whats for dinner tonight. Will do a deli drive by as I also need half and half. Someone needs to write a book "The Deli Diet" for people who get all their food from the grocery deli.

I always figure if the insurance company deems a surgery medically necessary, it is. They're not in the business of paying for elective procedures.
Sounds like Kirbys food switch out is still having positive effects? That would be awesome if the fix has been found.
But Peps, now you suffer Kirbys ailment! Good for taking a sick day. A classroom is no place to be when experiencing urgent bathroom trips. Could be a bug, could be the meds. I occasionally had the rumbly, crampy stomach early on, but haven't now in months. Except when I went up to the 2.4 dose, that rocked my world a bit. I am now on 1.7 here on out, and tolerate it well.
Diane, so excited for you to get your passport in order. I have never been to France, but I want to go! I think we will make it in the next few years.
The winter that wasn't decided to become the winter that is. Cold temps, snow in the forecast. As one news article said, "You didn't really think there would be no snow this year, did you? " No, I did not, but I carried a small hope. But whatever comes, it can't do too much to us as the sun is warm, even if the temps are not.
Pretty typical Monday. I survived. It will be break soon.
