We are sitting on our balcony in Key West looking out at the water and boats. A lazy morning with breakfast arriving within the next 1/2 hour.

DD had her first appointment with the weight loss place and she is expecting her semaglutide to arrive in 7-10 days. I am proud of her for taking control as she has never really tried dieting and she is feeling the weight these days limiting her activity. Nothing like an upcoming wedding to provide incentive!

DS went to the wake for his friend last night. He apparently was crying like crazy which doesn't surprise me. The widow still doesn't have custody of her child yet. What a horrendous situation.

On a better note, we are just going to continue the laziness today for my birthday and our second anniversary. We may float in the pool for a bit next to the harbor after breakfast this morning. This afternoon we plan to stroll around and go to places with good music. We take a boat to the island across from us for dinner outside under candlelight. Very romantic setting.

Have a superb Saturday!

Sounds like a lovely trip, Liz! I've never been to Florida, but would like to see the Keys one day.

I was down another pound today for 18 in 5 and a half weeks. Holy jeepers, this stuff is kind of unreal.

Yesterday I had 3 eggs in a little butter for breakfast and coffee, a few pretzel crisps mid-morning, ground beef with swiss cheese and some burger sauce in a bowl for lunch, and 6 oz of salmon and half a medium sized sweet potato for dinner. I was planning to eat the whole sweet potato, but got very faintly nauseous toward the end and decided to save the rest. I could do with more vegetables, but with space and appetite at a premium, I'm trying to focus on protein and I can't do the shakes. I just can't.

I did take the extra omeprazole at night and had no problems with mid-sleep gerd. Thanks for the idea, DD!

Looking back over the weeks I've been on this, I lost 12 pounds in the first 3 weeks, zero the 4th week, and 6 total so far in weeks 5 and 6. I had lost 21.4 pounds this many days into my sleeve and I started 34 pounds heavier. So really comparable losses and a lot less pain and discomfort. But maybe the sleeve/medication combo has an advantage over just medication? That would be an interesting study. I do wonder if one day medication will replace what we had done.

It's a beautiful day after 3 days of on and off rain. Still some dark clouds, but mixed with some blue sky. The plants are happy.

Not sure of plans today, but Kirby badly needs a walk.

Oh! I somehow managed to gather all the stuff for my taxes yesterday and sent that in! I don't even do my own and it still takes hours to compile. I itemize, so tracking down all the charitable donations and medical expenses takes a lot of time. Blech. Not sure what made me do it, but I snuck up on myself and then went with it. Very unlike this procrastinator.

So that's it for me. Time for eggs and more coffee. And I need to go buy more eggs today...

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

It sounds like you are eating well - making good choices. I sure hope it works as well for DD.

I hope so too! Everyone deserves to feel good in their bodies with the least limitations on the activities they want to participate in! Especially with a wedding coming up!

Happy Anniversary Liz!

I'm looking forward to hearing about your daughter's experience with her compounded medications. My DD said she was going to look into that once she finished graduate school. Right now, she has a 24 hour a week unpaid internship, and works for pay the other two days of the week, and goes to school for 8-12 hours on Saturdays depending on if it's the week with 2 or 3 classes. It's a tough program, but she has loved both her internships, so worth it. The first one already offered her a job as a therapist when she's licensed, The 2nd one probably will too. Currently, we are helping pay her rent, because we don't want her to take a bunch of loans. Anyhow, long story to say, she can go back to 40 hours of paid work in June when the internship ends. Parental rent subsidy is scheduled to end in June. DH and I are mulling over offering to pay for the semaglutide until she graduates in December. I guess it depends on whether I'm going on strike this spring or next fall. (I hope never, what a mess). So hearing about your daughter's experiences in Massachusetts will be very helpful.

CC you and I are having quite a different experience with these medications. I can't eat enough protein without a shake most days. It will be a year in May, and I've lost 34 pounds so far. That's about what I lost the 1st month after surgery! With surgery, as I got closer to goal weight, I was losing about 8 pounds a month. Last month I lost 2 pounds. I'm not complaining, I'm feeling really good about losing anything, but, for me, the sleeve was so much more effective. I am so pleased to hear it's working well for you. Glad that the Omeprizole helped last night :)

This morning our coffee shop had live music for St. Patrick's Day. It's in St. Paul, which is the Irish part of the Twin Cities. It was fun seeing all the Irish dancers stopping in to grab a coffee on their way to the parade or other performances. Fun energy!

Other than that, I'm feeling like I need a quiet day at home. So that's probably the rest of today's agenda.

It's insane the impact tamoxifen has on your metabolism! But how great there is something that can counteract the effect, even if it is very slow. I can't imagine eating the small quantities you eat in order to lose 3 pounds a month without an aid like Wegovy. It would be so unsustainable and emotionally difficult.

Greetings all

Another day of beautiful sun and it will last most of the week. Means the yard will grow like crazy.

I have been rooting around looking for the title to the old car. It was made in the last century! I think I am just going to have to send for a replacement which means getting a notarized document. Can do. I now have DH looking at new electric SUV cars. Keeps him busy and I hate shopping of any sort. I will go to the studio after a friend drops by to pick up the antique DVD player. When it's sunny my stuff at the studio dries out fast and my owls need carving.

Liz glad your DS got through the wake for his friend. So sad. Hoping baby is returned soon. Loved your picture from the Key West place. Makes me want to go there. Cool that your DD is moving right along with the wl meds. Good job.

DD glad to hear your DD is making progress and getting close to her degree. Grad school is not for the weak. Glad you can help her some. And I hope you don't have to strike but it seems like it sometimes has to be done.

I am concerned about my friend who went to the hospital the other day. I am reluctant to call her husband. Will do a work around and call neighbor/friend.

We have been watching Peaky Blinders. I think there are many seasons. It's interesting but violent. Really pulls you in.

Studio buddy will come by tomorrow to have DH help her with computer modem. So that means our ears will bleed. She is fun but talks non stop. DH keeps trying to convince her to put computer wiring into the walls of the house she is building so it's more stable than wifi. Seems like a simple concept but makes for endless discussion.

CC any more bird visitors? Is Kirby a birdy dog? Most likely.

I have a new grooming table I need to set up. My dogs look like ragamuffins. Need brushing and more.

Tonights dinner is as yet unknown. Might have to stop by the hippie food store. Why does feeding ourselves take so much effort? (answer: lack of planning).

I used to say that being with my brother made my ears feel like they were going to fall off because he talks so much.
