VSG Maintenance Group

Quick post as we are off to Key West once I get my act together. DH was up 1/2 hour before me because I was just going to give him time to make coffee. Justice and I were cuddled up and fell back to sleep. Whoops!
Sleeping felt good after a very late night with our friends. We had such a great time! I feel so blessed to have found this group. The weather was perfect for eating outside next to the ocean last night. Couldn't ask for more! I didn't overeat but I did have quite a bit of wine. Whoops again.
So glad CC's friend showed up this time. I'm sure he loves the house, the views and sweet Kirby. it's the weekend starting this afternoon DD. I guess you'll have to live for them for now. Thank goodness you have such a supportive DH. Diane S, the creaky joints do have a way of motivating one. The thought of becoming a couch potato just really isn't appealing though it seems like many succumb to that at our age.
Have a fine Friday!

Another Kirby poop night, argh! I was trying to switch his food slowly, but maybe we just need to do a cold turkey switch at this point and get the old food over with to know if that is the culprit. It's raining here. Rained all night making outdoor potty visits extra fun.
Kirby had school yesterday and was a very good boy. She talked too much again, but a little more focus on the dog than last time.
I had a great time with my bff. I think his drive here and back was longer than the amount of time he was here, but he apologized it was so short and said he'd come back and stay overnight. He did say the house is not "me" and more contemporary than he had envisioned. i don't think he meant it in a bad way. His house is much more my style. But it would be out of place here. It's not like my other houses at all, but houses that are traditional "me" don't exist up here. There are no Spanish/California style homes. It's mostly modern ones that blend into the landscape. It's the "trade off" (though not a hardship) for living here.
Scale continues to inch downward 0.4 today to 17. I had another late night round of gerd. Blech. Got up and took a pill. I may have to go to two like DD.
Nothing planned today that hasn't been canceled. My hair appointment was canceled as she had a major difference of opinion with the new owner of the salon where she was renting a station. The bug guy canceled because it's raining. So I can stay in my jammies indefinitely!
Might go make some eggs. I'm not hungry, but it's a good protein way to start the day.
Take care all!
Greetings all
Another super blue day. The dogs are on the deck basking. Rain is by no means finished this year but the sun and longer daylight are energizing. DH had lunch with one friend. Other one called earlier to pass because his wife was being taken to the hospital. I had to call someone else to get all the info but she is having heart issues plus weakness and falling. does not sound good. I am trying to think of what I can do for her besides the usual.
It appears we need a new car. The old SUV seems to be toast. I have told DH to start thinking about what he wants. Also contacted nephew who always knows the latest stuff. I think we should get a plug in hybrid SUV like my scrabble buddy has. Old one will get donated to something. It's a 1998 car! almost an antique.
CC whaddaya mean he thinks your house is not you? It's such a cool place how could it not be? Glad you had a good visit even if short. I think you are right to just do it on the Kirby food change.
Tee Liz dinner off campus! Sounds wonderful. You indeed have a great tribe there. Enjoy and have a good Key West day. Yep wine is a slider food.
Sitting here allowing my hair to air dry. Laundry is needed plus more junk removal and prep for the nephew.
This weekend's mission is to get a DVD player to a friend whose husband is on hospice. About all he can do is watch DVDs. I have one that DH got for me some years ago but did not get used. It works. Win win.
Not much else. DH brought home tuna sandwich for dinner. Works for me.

I feel like DVDs are hardly ever used anymore with all the streaming resources. But I assume libraries still have them? I haven't physically been to a library in years because I use a kindle and take electronic books out from the library and download them.
I love how you're doing retirement Liz, except for the surgery, I wish you didn't have to do that. And falling asleep again should be a retirement activity from time to time. In the summer, it feels so luxurious when I get up and make my latte, and then get into bed again for awhile to watch the local news.
CC, I would recommend the Omeprizole twice a day. I'm not suffering from gerd or reflux now, but did have some in the beginning. I theorize that our stomachs are producing enough acid to digest our previous amounts of food, and haven't adjusted to the new volume.
That being said, I must have jinxed myself after saying I've had very little stomach issues. For a few years after my sleeve, I could not do pasta easily. Now I can, in small amounts. Except spaghetti noodles. I don't know why, but they don't work very well. I haven't tried them in about two years, but for some crazy reason thought I'd try last night. I served myself noodles and meat sauce, no more than a 1/2 cup total. After about 1/4 cup, I thought oh oh. A miserable night, with a return of the foamies. Not the blast from the past I long for. I'm fine now, but to be safe, I only ate yogurt, saltines, cottage cheese and a banana so far today. The scale did drop ever so slightly, bringing me to a new low.
Next weekend we have plans for a couple of outings, but this weekend is wide open. I'm sure we'll find some fun along the way.
I am so happy with working out again. It's helped my mood and energy. When I reached about 25 pounds lost, I was kind of disappointed my energy hadn't improved. I feel more and more, the older I get the more I need to be very intentional about maintaining strength. DH says he feels it too. He's very active, and has been strong his whole life. But he feels that he now needs to be deliberate about lifting some weights or lose strength. A reality of aging I guess, that we have to fight.
I hated the foamies and have only had them once or twice after the first couple of years post-VSG after learning that full meant full. Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on your perspective), I can eat pasta. Not a lot but more than 1/2 cup.
