I have been awake since 4 and up since 5 Las Vegas time (equivalent to 7 and 8 Florida time). We won't be home until after midnight tonight so we should reset to Florida time fairly quickly.
The Beatles Love show was good, but not as good as the Cirque du Soleil show "O" which we saw 2 years ago IMO. DH agrees.
We didn't do much other than go to the show yesterday as it was pouring rain and our feet were tired. We aren't in a hurry to do much today either. Since we don't gamble, Vegas wears thin pretty quickly. Our flight isn't until 3:30 today but we will probably go fairly early so there will be no rushing around. I am really missing Justice so I am looking forward to picking him up early tomorrow morning.
Have a fine Friday!
While I do read every day, I've been remiss about posting. Pretty much all is well in my world. The sugar weaning is going well. Some days are easier than others. I was really quite pleased with myself on Wednesday when I passed on even looking at the 3 boxes of donuts and tin of Danish Butter Cookies sitting on our "office" table (which on Wednesdays is the staff room of the school where we teach that day). The powers that be took away our music room at the end of last year to accommodate a new after school care program.
Finally decided on which puppy I will keep. I'm not sure she will be a keeper since she is a bad eater and super skinny. Skinny is not a good show dog look. Nothing wrong with her, just skinny. Oh, I wish I had some of that...LOL! Anyhow, she's super pretty and sweet with terrier zeal and feistiness! Her name is Jiffy.
Rainy, rainy here. LIz, was it super windy in Vegas last night? I know Phoenix got hit pretty hard by the weather. Looking forward to another weekend at home - even if it is pretty booked up.
Fun Friday, peeps!
Jiffy looks awfully sweet to me. Maybe as she matures she will eat better and fill out a bit?
It wasn't windy yesterday but I don't know about late night as we were back to our room by 9. When we were out it was just damp and cold (rain during the day was over). We are going out shortly and it looks like it is going to rain again with temperature at 47 - yuck!

0.81" of rain here and enough snow at the end to make it pretty this morning. It's cool and cloudy. My folks are headed to CA and are flying charter, but I guess with the altitude (closer to the low clouds) and the shorter runway, their flight moved from Sedona to Prescott. So much for convenience! But you still drive up and get on, so not as onerous as commercial travel. I'm on my own (with Kirby****il Monday night! So excited.
He seems to be feeling better and sleeping better. I swapped the crates so his bigger one was in the bedroom, but he doesn't like it. But he's getting there. He slept in it with the door open for a little bit last night. Only one potty visit, which unfortunately was in the driving rain. But he didn't dawdle!
Solar guy is here hooking up the last of the stuff. A painter will need to come out to paint the conduit. The original owners had all the original solar wiring run inside the walls as the house was being built, but unfortunately undersized the system by 2/3rds. Hence conduit. Grr.
On the food front, my dad has decided we are all fat and we don't need desserts. Of course, he got cheesecake at dinner the other night unlike us. I HATE being food policed. Hate. Hate. Hate. Takes me right back to my childhood and sets off my desire to overeat garbage in secret. The other night he was having ice cream and whispering about it. I assume to keep me from hearing so I wouldn't have any. More policing. Probably bad timing for their trip leaving me here unmonitored!
I think that's all for me. Hope everyone is well, dry, and having a great day!
I'm with you on food-police family or friends who think they are helping. It almost always has the opposite effect because it makes us feel bad about ourselves.
Greetings all
The sun is out (mostly) and it's a pleasant day. The garage door man called to come fairly early but DH was up and on it. He seems to be feeling much better and is puttering around the kitchen as usual and not just sitting and groaning. Good news. The meds must be helping. He has lost about 8 pounds through this (how unfair is that - he can lose 8 pounds in 10 days) so hopefully he can continue eating better. He has a follow up apt tuesday. I got a message today for me to register for my appointment tuesday. Well duh, did not know I had one. I think it's a follow up but no one told me. Oh well like I have anything better to do. Biggest issue will be car shuffle but DH can drive the old one if needed. Meanwhile he has lunch out today and we have a birthday party to do Sunday.
Yeah Liz if you don't play slot machines there is really nothing in Vegas but shows and eating. Sounds like you have been there long enough. I guess there is lots of shopping but so what. Safe travels home.
Peps Jiffy is adorable. Bet she fills out and rocks. And congrats on the Westminster invite. Are you going? And yay you on the sugar limits. Those danish butter cookies taste like sawdust. I bought a tin on impulse a while back and got rid of them. Not worth eating. Enjoy your weekend at home.
DD yikes a 20 kid fight!?! Wild! Hope all is resolved. Our high school went on lock down 6 times in two weeks recently. Phoned in threats plus report of creepy person with gun. Nothing bad happened. And yeah as you approach retirement the weekends become more and more important for rejuvenation. My last years all we did was crash on weekends. Enough of that.
I think I mentioned the eagles laid a third egg! So the poor mama eagle is sitting on the nest and covered in snow. Dad fish. . He seemed puzzled by the fact there were three eggs. I love watching and all the anthropomorphizing that the commentators do. ie what does Shadow think of the third egg and such.
Ricotta bake again tonight and that will be it. A good winter dish as it keeps well for a couple of days. Next time I make it I think I will add chopped spinach or something.
Not much else. Hair wash day and then household chores. Firing day at the studio but I won't get there. Still doing my daily treadmill and I can't wait to tell my doctor that I have been doing it.

I haven't had that ricotta bake for a long time. You mentioning it makes me want to dust off the recipe.
We did look at the shops before we left for the airport but so much of it is super high-end stuff. Perfect for someone fresh off of a big win in the casino and wanting to splurge (clearly not us). And BTW, EVERYTHING is more expensive in Las Vegas.
Rain in Nevada! I would assume something that is welcome in areas that are always facing water shortages.
We saw a Circe show in Las Vegas that was "adult". I forget the name, and I believe it has since closed. It was fun, kind of raunchy, kind of burlesque. We don't gamble either. One thing I do hope to experience one day: a kayak adventure where you start at the foot of Hoover Dam, and spend several hours paddling on the Colorado River. Looks beautiful.
The unseasonably warm winter continues. No outdoor ice rinks. No snow for cross country skiing. It's even too warm for the snow hills to use their snow making machines. I love it!!! (Not being a winter sports enthusiast and all). The lack of ice covered everything is so liberating.
Looking forward to the weekend. Tomorrow we hope to go to our coffee place and do a little shopping. Sunday we have tickets to a play: Dial M for Murder. It's getting glowing reviews. Tonight, ordering a pizza and finishing up with Griselda on Netflix. Friday at last.
Sounds like great weekend plans! We started Griselda and were surprised by how good it was.
