Good morning! I couldn't be happier that it is Saturday morning. So far I've had a nice London Fog (my new passion, it's a earl grey tea latte), a tasty piece of toast with raspberry jam, and I'm drinking water with lime before I start in on the diet coke. I also have a pot of Irish Steel Cut Oats simmering on the stove for later. I'll pack them up in serving size containers for breakfasts this week. Oh, and I read the Friday and Saturday papers. So I'm feeling quite content right now.
Not so yesterday at work. I am struggling so much again. There are still bright and hopeful moments and I try to focus energy and attention on those. But the truth is, there are also parts of my work that are making me terribly unhappy. And maybe I feel better just naming that? The kids have gone bonkers again because we started a new semester, which resulted in a few minor schedule changes. One of my hours is simply incorrigible. I won their cooperation to some extent 1st semester, but I just can't find the energy and motivation to do it again. It can be terribly difficult work to do that with kids who are carrying a backpack of trauma and hurts, but it's the job I choose. And I know they like me, some quite a lot, some sort of, but good God in heaven they are so dysregulated. Add that to the crushing paperwork load this year due to staff cuts, and its hard to be positive.
Some things that are still good: I love my co workers. They are phenomenal. There are kids who are making amazing progress. There are kind and encouraging parents. One of our deans stopped by my crazy hour yesterday to offer me support. I have until June, and then there's a break to reset and recharge.
DH is in Boston visiting our daughter. And getting his hair cut. Our daughter has a very charming and charismatic hair stylist that told her once, you're parents sound so fun, I'd like to meet them. So now DH gets his hair cut by Remy whenever he's there.
After my discouraging day yesterday, I went to the fancy grocery store and bought whatever I felt like from the fancy deli. I started 2 streaming shows, Beef and Griselda. I watched 2 episodes of each. I had 2 rum and cokes with fresh limes spaced out over the evening, and slept like a baby.
Today I'm going to go to a friend's open house party to celebrate their birthday, and then out to dinner with BFF and her son's family. Tomorrow we have brunch with the college roomies and then BFF will move on from our house to stay with her son a few days before she leaves Minnesota again. DH comes home Monday night.
Hope everyone else is also having a relaxing and rejuvenating Saturday!

I'm sorry things are such a challenge at work! Paperwork - I would procrastinate and then drown in it.
Kirby slept 8 hours and poops have returned to normal for now! Granted he was still done at 5am, but better than up every hour or so!
We are headed to 60 and sunny today, yay!
I'm off to the grocery store today and then doing some housework and work on my board stuff. And taking care of Kirby.
I think my folks are headed to CA for a long weekend next weekend. Unfortunately the weather in CA looks to be horrible the whole weekend, so I hope they drive safely around there. Going to see friends and go to the funeral of the husband of one of his business partners. He was a lovely man. Pancreatic cancer. Life is unfair.
I think that's all that's brewing here...
Take care all!
Thank goodness Kirby had a good night! Looking forward to being in Sedona by about 3:30 tomorrow. Good to hear that it is warming up.
Sure sounds like the weekend came just in time! I think I said it before but it seems like frequently people grow to dislike jobs they used to love just before retirement. Maybe to make it easier to leave? Sort of like teenagers who drive us crazy so it makes it easier to see them leave for college.
Let us know how the streamed shows are. We have been struggling to find good stuff.
We are at the beach again today - more breeze and a bit less sun but it is really quite pleasant. It was packed at the beach club yesterday and it looks like the same today- We have all been starved for the sun.
The Hokas were pretty comfortable to walk in this morning and somehow don't look as big as I envisioned (maybe because they were gigantic in my imagination LOL). We shall see if they reduce my knee pain. I guess I will wear them on the plane tomorrow so I will have them and not have to use up a huge amount of packing space since we plan to bring carryons only.
Clean eating was good again yesterday (day 4) except wine was consumed at the club Happy Hour. We all wanted to get out again with the nice weather since it is held outside.
Have a Super Saturday!
Late iPad check in. I took dh to er this afternoon with a fib diagnosed with Apple Watch. He has been admitted for cardiac tests. In some ways it's good because getting a cardiac work up here takes an act of congress. So after waiting and monitoring and back and forth to get stuff for dh I am finally home on dog duty. The hospital people are wonderful but getting in for care is a challenge.
so home now getting pills down poppy. More tomorrow when I am at keyboard

It does sound like it is best that DH is being evaluated at the hospital. I have a friend with afib episodes periodically who also uses her Apple Watch to tell her when it happens. It triggers her to start taking blood thinners and contact her cardiologist immediately. She lives her life to its fullest, bicycling here, there and everywhere on multi-day trips. I hope all goes well.
