The Hokas are supposed to arrive today. I hope they don't look like the gunboats I fear. I wish this knee pain would subside. I wake up with them feeling more or less normal unless I slept with a leg funny but about 1/2 way through our walk they start aching. Then I getting this off and on stabbing pain in the evening.

The view on a nice morning from our lanai when it is calm and the water is glassy is amazing. A sailboat is putting up its sails out there. Maybe it is going out?

Our work at the Tennis Tournament is done. The young women are so inspiring but we had the same feeling as last year like we felt we had a real job (reiterates our happiness at being retired).

DH's home was written up in a 1.5 page article in the local paper as a good property to buy. Don't know how that was accomplished as the bulk of their weekly write-ups are more elaborate/expensive homes. Really well done. I hope it helps! The roof should be finished within a week. However after a year of nothing else on the market in that neighborhood there are now 5 homes for sale. DH's is priced right as long as one considers the new roof and new plumbing (all the houses in the neighborhood will have to have both replaced within a couple of years if not already done). It is potentially the better choice financially unless one wants to roll the dice on deferring those expensive upgrades.

Anyway, we are going to the beach today (after Habitat for Humanity picks up the excess furniture in the old house)!

Have a fine Friday!

Book club was yesterday. It was cold and rainy all day with thunderstorms and hail at the end of the day. But not a cloud in sight today. Poor Kirby still has the poops. We were outside every two hours last night and he was done and ready to start the day at 5. I'm a zombie. Aside from putting Fortiflora probiotics on his food and some pumpkin, any other advice for dogs with intestinal troubles?

The book was The Power of Days. Non-fiction. I'm not much of a non-fiction lover and the book was much longer than it needed to be to me (maybe because non-fiction is boring to me), but the story is such a worthwhile one about a woman who started an international non-profit to make reusable period supply kits for impoverished girls around the world. The organization is called Days for Girls.

I still don't have my prescription. I don't think this bodes well for being able to get it long term!

Today I have a conference call with my financial advisor's trust department to talk about redoing my trust in AZ. Nice that my dad will be here as much of this stuff goes over my head.

It's a gorgeous morning. Liz, you're coming at the right time! End of next week is looking like 30's and 40s for highs.

I hope the Hokas work well for you! I have a pair of their hiking shoes and they indeed look like battleships on my size 10.5 feet. I wore them in NZ, but got really bad plantar fasciitis. They were super comfortable, but I wondered if the sponginess of the soles was bad for my arches? I have since gotten rid of all my spongy shoes (like Sketchers) because I don't think they give my feet enough support. But I have fickle feet and good knees...

Hope everyone has a nice day!

I had to look up Hoka shoes. I do not find them overly large looking, nor are they unattractive, but the soles do look a little overdone. Liz, I think they'll make you 5'5"!

Well, the "baby" sugar detox continues to go well. I am carb craving a little. I was told to expect that and to go with it, so I am. Weight isn't dropping yet, but it will once I get through this initial sugar change. My fitness trainer and I spent a good amount of time talking about our dietary needs changing as we age. She actually needs to increase carbs and fiber. (She also has a sugar thing, but has had that under control for years... She's maintained a 100+ pound loss for 20 years - no surgery.) Me, it's getting the sugar thing in check. I'm glad that I am approaching this as a ha*****ange rather than a diet to lose weight. Just stopping the sugar seeking behavior is monumental on its own.

I woke up feeling the onset of soreness from the work out last night, so I know I'm holding a little extra water this morning. I'm so weird, though. I love the sore feeling of a good workout.

I'm excited that tomorrow I will get to sleep in a bit, if I want. I usually don't end up sleeping very late on the weekends, but an 8 am wake up sounds delicious right now! That's what I get for hooting with the owls last night. I was engrossed in watching 9 to 5 on the TV.... My god, do you realize that 9 to 5 was released in 1980???? 44 years ago!!!!!!!! There is something just not right about that fact! LOL Dabney Coleman is in his 90s now!!!!

Meet with the NUT therapist today. Other than that, not much on my plate today except for school.

Fruitful Friday to all!

9 to 5 was that long ago? Geez I feel old!

I never thought of the being taller effect - could come in handy to reach things on the top shelf at the food store.

Greetings all

Early check in for me. Today is much better than the horrible yesterday. I brought Poppy home and she whines and whines . She has always been a whiner. Got meds into her and she is resting. DH was also non stop whining about feeling weak and crappy and having elevated heart rate and tooth issue. I finally got everybody to just go to bed. Today DH is feeling better in the tooth department as he started antibiotics yesterday. I think he had worked himself into this terrible state of anxiety and was just wigged out. We discussed this trip to the endodontist and finally agreed to cancel it. The tooth is better and I reminded him we didn't want to be driving through the middle of nowhere and have a cardiac episode. So I made him call again on the heart ultra sound and finally got through. We is going to try to get it done at a different hospital next week instead of waiting until March. Such a mess. But he is calmed down and not whining. All the logistics of this trip were stressing me out so I am grateful to reconsider. We may end up doing it but a week or two later would be better with Poppy recovering and our pet sitter more available.

Liz thats great that there was an article on the house. That will be a boost for sure. Nice going. And yeah, the tournament was probably like a real job!

Peps at the vet clinic yesterday I saw a black Airedale! I confirmed it with the owner that it was an Airedale. Is that a real thing or just some weird mix? It was really big and chunky but all its lines said Airedale. Sweet dog. I still want to take a paintbrush and fix the teeth on the dog on the outside mural. Glad your sugar detox is going forward.

So last night I was stressed and ate steamed rice for dinner, That was it. Carbs are a comfort. I had cooked it for the dogs but ate it myself.

The Big Bear eagles have laid an egg! The nest did not look prepped with soft stuff but the egg is there. Hoping for a second.

One of my high school friends is going to have her leg amputated! She had a fall on a trip and there are multiple fractures and it messed up her artificial knee which has already been replaces 3 times. So take care of your bones everyone. And don't jog. This person had multiple knee replacesments both sides due to years of jogging.

Speaking of exercise, I had to be a lot more active yesterday in household stuff, dishes, store trip, getting Poppy, carrying stuff around, fixing food and medicine , laundry and all kinds of stuff. Gotta admit my legs didn't hurt as much yesterday, Duh again, exercise matters. Just no jogging.

CC you might give Kirby some yogurt to get probiotics. I think I am going to feed Poppy some. Me too.

More later maybe, like this is not enough, Diane S

That's a lot going on in your household! Sounds like getting DH's heart checked out is primary though I've heard that infections in your teeth can harm your heart too (don't mention to DH but something to think about?).

So sorry about your friend. A reminder that we all need to stay active and also work on balance perhaps.
