VSG Maintenance Group
01/21/2024, Sunday
Good morning ! I have started to post five or six times, and something always distracts me. I continue to try to keep up with your posts! I am just over two weeks past my shoulder replacement and finally "getting the hang" of my new normal. OT and PT are progressing and I can manage my self care. Pain management is under control and as long as I haven't taken a narcotic, I can drive. I ordered a bunch of adaptive equipment I am returning because I really don't need them. ( A knob for my steering wheel and a puller for my seatbelt are two examples.) I have several places I can get comfortable and my tens unit and shoulder ice machine are life savers. Sadie is phenomenal ! I am blown away by how in tune the two of us are !
I love hearing Riley and new house stories ! DD, I don't envy you the school experiences, but good for you to plan a February escape ! Peps, you are in your teaching count down too, and it sounds like the pups are keeping you busy! Liz, I hope it is warmer there than it is here ! It is amazing how much DS has come around. Diane, if you want to get rid of DH for a few days, send him here ! I have some gadgets that aren't gadgeting. I'll close and post now, before I am side tracked !

So happy to see you start the Thread today! You sound fairly functional for 2 weeks post-op which gives me hope. I'm glad all is going well with you.
DS leaves late this afternoon. It has been a good visit but it will be nice to be back to just the two of us. Also my pocketbook and my weight will be relieved: lots of going out to eat for the last 12 days. We already went out for breakfast and will go to the clubhouse for an early dinner after bocce and before he leaves.
Speaking of weight, I need to JFDI. My continuing knee soreness after walks is becoming a bigger motivator. I need to stop using upcoming events out as an excuse not to start yet. I hate having to be back having to do this yet again though thankfully it is at a much lower starting point than it used to be.
On that note, have a surprising Sunday!

Kirby had another sleep until 6 night. I'll take it! He's being very good this morning. The evenings are another story and he's a chaotic mess on a walk (which probably makes it even better exercise for me), but all in all, he's a sweet dog.
It's drizzly here. Not the rain that was promised ywt, but better than nothing.
I watched American Nightmare on Netflix last night. Not a good look at all for Vallejo (CA) PD or the FBI! A quick interesting watch.
Not much going on here. I have chores to do, but those aren't much fun.
Take care everyone!
Greetings all
Ocean D so good to hear from you! Glad you are able to function fairly well. No doubt there is plenty of PT in your future and you will be a good patient and do what you are supposed to. So grateful you have Sadie. Dogs matter so much. People who don't like dogs are suspect. Hang in there and post when you can.
CC glad Kirby had another good night. No doubt it was that "talking to" your dad had with him. That FB post was so cute. He is gonna be a big boy. We love hearing his adventures.
Liz sounds like a good visit with DS. Yeah we all have to learn to eat responsibly year round and not just "after the holidays" or whatever. Actually we would all be fine with maybe 75% healthy eating. Something to consider. Peps we want to hear more about your program.
Studio time today. Studio buddy came in and started some new stuff and I did too. Amazing how much you can get done if you just stay put and do it. I was sort of a captive audience listening to her foils and tribulations with building the house. Buts its good so long as I can sit and play with clay. There was a class going on in the main studio and people are making some astounding stuff
The rain let up a little today but it's going to stick around all week. There is flooding. I am grateful to have a warm dry home. With pot roast tonight.

Totally agree with "People who don't like dogs are suspect" (unless there is some PTSD about a prior event involving a dog)!!!!
Back from a very nice visit with our DS. I worried and worried and worried about him middle school, high school and college. My worries weren't unfounded, he did have struggles. It is such a joy to see so many aspects of his life working well.
I read some work emails on the way home. I emailed my principal and asked if she could meet with me because I find some of them concerning. It's complicated, but I feel I am being asked to carry messages by Sped Supervisors to already combative parents that I did not agree with in the first place. Need some perspective from a different administrator what I can and can't say.
I need to unpack and get ready for the upcoming week. More tomorrow :)
