I am sitting in a dentist office waiting to have my chipped tooth looked at. I just had my teeth cleaned and X-rays done in December, so it is a pain being back. I know from my mother's older years that teeth get more brittle. Seems like everything starts to fall apart as one gets older.
We had a good day with DS yesterday visiting a couple of local museums. We also found a cider brewery tucked away off the main streets. Very cool place with a female brewer (a rarity).
Today it is warmer but super cloudy with a chance of showers (yesterday it was sunny, windy and cool). Continued weird weather pattern.
DS is working today so we are just doing errands, etc. Hopefully we can fit in a long Justice walk at some point.
Have a thinking Thursday!

What a night. Kirby took his Drontal anti-worm medicine and he was a basket case all night! He was bouncing off the walls, pacing, barking, whining. Never sitting, laying down, or settling, crying to get through the gates, but then not knowing why he wanted out. Only after I looked it up did I see others going back to 2014 with the same experience of extreme hyperactivity. It was like doggy meth. And lasted for 12 hours. I think Kirby and I slept about 2 hours. Horrible experience. I will ask the vet if he can take something else for the second dose in two weeks.
No acknowledgement from the direct pharmacy that they received my prescription. I read that many are having the same problems getting it filled. Perhaps the FDA approval in Nov coupled with New Year's resolutions means shortages. Which doesn't bode well for future months. Some of the people trying to get it have had Wegovy prescriptions that still haven't been filled since July because of starting dose shortages and now can't get Zepbound. Never underestimate how much people are willing to pay to lose weight! Maybe this is a sign I'm not meant to do this.
Poor Guy! Poor CC! BTW, this works very well: Elanco tapeworm medicine
My very good dog friends are coming today to take Dinah home with them. It's killing me, even though in the long run it will be great for Dinah. She is going to be living a great, active life with lots of attention and affection. Still, it's hard....
So, I told the clinic that I needed to speak with the doctor. As written, I can not follow the food plan. It's ridiculously restrictive - to the point of restricting what foods can be eaten at the same time and what foods can be eaten at what time of day. For instance, fruit is limited to the first meal of the day. If you eat protein first, then fruit is a no no for the rest of the day.
So, my guess is that I will be committing to an old tried and true WL method: no sugar, super low carb. I can do it.... I can do it.... LOL! Sunday will be devoted to cleaning out cupboards and prepping high protein options. I'm feeling okay about starting, but still the feeling of "Oh, f*ck.... here I go again!" has surfaced and runs deep!
Today is an easy school day! Hallelujah!
Greetings all
Overcast today but at least it's dry. The flooded areas need it.
Studio time today. I unsnarled some tax filings and played with clay. Also had a good talk with a staff member about an extra kiln we need to get rid of. It would free up space for students. We can always use more room.
CC sorry that Kirby had such a bad night. I had no idea that med could do that. I once had a little dog that walked in circles all night after some meds. Not good. Glad there is an alternative - for your sake and Kirby's. And yeah, talk about dog poop! At dog shows we would go to restaurants for dinner and invariably at some point discuss dog poop over our food! Peps knows this to be true.
Peps that eating plan sounds weird. Why does the time matter? Dr. Cirangle used to say it was a good idea to try to get 30g protein within an hour of getting up but this was admittedly his hypothesis and not some proven theory. If I had to do that I would never get out of bed. Years ago I lost weight by having a rule that after dinner I could not eat anything else except a glass of milk or fruit. That actually worked pretty well. Until I just stopped doing it.
Discouraging on the availability of weight loss drugs or lack thereof. I have been meaning to check with our small town pharmacy on availability. Why bother to go through the hoops to get it if it's not possible. I wonder if big pharmacies like costco are any better at it? CVS is a total lost cause here.
Liz hope the tooth turns out to be nothing. Yep something is always falling apart. Welcome to old age. I do think my little walk each day, minimal as it is, is helping me move better and feel slightly less crappy.
I picked up a covid test while at the pharmacy. I had a slightly scratchy throat earlier today but it seems gone now. I won't test unless it comes back.
Pot roast in the slow cooker. Smells great.
Peps give Dinah a big hug. It's hard to let a dog move on but sounds like she has a great life ahead. I got a retired show dog smooth fox terrier for my mom and Pat years ago. That dog had a fabulous life and lived to be 17. He was the king of the household and knew it.

Liz if you have to get a crown or cap, it's marginally better than before, because they can make it in the office now! Medical marvels.
Peps I am always touched by the thoughtful care you provide your dogs. All of the dog show accomplishments are another reflection of the amazing start they get when they are puppies. Letting Dinah go to lead her next best life, that's true care.
Oh my gosh CC, you and Kirby have been through it! Hope all the commotion with the meds have the desired results (as it sounds like they have).
Our district negotiators ended negotiations last month (with no counter offer, just their original 1% raise) and filed for mediation, which can't happen until mid February. Today they asked our negotiation team to come back to the table. Hopefully our "settlement activities" inspired them. Or, it could be some other trick. I have no faith in them any longer.
Still bitterly cold (high of 7), but 30s are coming next week, which is a delightful surprise in January. Just a few more days in the deep freeze.
