Interesting, this morning I checked on my prescription and it was gone from Walgreens' system. I called this afternoon and the pharmacist said it was so expensive without insurance, she canceled it and sent a message to my doctor to prescribe something else or try to get the insurance company to approve it! I said it is not on their approved list and I discussed it with my doctor and wanted to use the savings card from the drug company. So interesting that they wouldn't even ask me, just cancel it. At any rate, they don't have it and had to order it for Monday. The price without the savings card is, gulp, $1272 for 4 weekly shots. No wonder people are going the more iffy compound route!

I have had pharmacies do the same - cancel without asking when the medication isn't covered. So annoying. Once that happened when my eldest DD was prescribed Zofran for nausea while undergoing chemo. The count was higher than the insurance company normally approved. When I went to pick it up I blasted them and made them fill it while I waited (DD was home and not in good shape). The cost was pretty high but I didn't care. Incidentally (not applicable to your situation), we were able to get the insurance company to remove the count restriction due to the chemotherapy and I was ultimately reimbursed.

That's horrible! Weight loss drugs are one thing, but chemotherapy drugs are unconscionable.
