Awake since 3:30 and up since 6. My mind wouldn't stop after I had a bathroom trip. I have a lot of anxiety about a golfing thing this morning. I think I am going to cancel because I am tired, it is cold out, I am anxious about it, and there are too many other things to do this morning. On a nice day if I felt better and was not worried about my shoulder it would have been a good thing to go to but I'm too old to drag myself to something that I don't want to attend.

The electrician did a good job installing fans and taking care of some other electrical issues. The woman *****decorated this place two owners ago did some funky self-installation - at least one of which was a fire hazard. The fan in the bedroom rattled because the screws to balance it weren't tightened. To get it somewhat balanced someone had stuffed a piece of cloth around the rod and threw a bunch of small weights in. The drum light I had removed in the living room had been balanced with a 3 pound hand weight. There were some unattached live wires behind the trash drawer. They weren't touching anything but if the trash overflowed there would have been the possibility of a fire igniting. The wires are now properly secured in a box. What was that woman thinking?

DH got back without problems from Albany yesterday afternoon. We had dinner with DS at the clubhouse last night - very nice evening.

I just cancelled the golf outing. I feel less anxious now. We are going to take DS out for breakfast, take a Justice walk, and pick up a piece of furniture for the living room. DS leaves early afternoon for 2 days at a wedding in West Palm.

I really need to think about reining in my snacking and losing some weight before I become more sedentary after shoulder surgery. That was weighing on my mind too last night.

Time to get more positive thoughts. Have a thrifty Thursday!

I'm all for canceling anxiety producing plans...

Graupel and some snow this morning, cold and gray. My BFF was supposed to finally come and see me and Sedona for the first time tomorrow, but now he and his partner have their first case of Covid. I think I'm the last one I know who's not had it!

I got a reply email from my doctor. She was so nice! I had said I was embarrassed to ask about the shots she said there was nothing to be embarrassed about. She said she's had several patients be successful with semaglutide/Wegovy/Ozempic, but doesn't have much experience with Tirzepatide/Zepbound yet because it's new, but the studies look good. One study said Tirzepatide was 3 times more likely than semaglutide to result in a 15% weight loss. Zepbound shares the same main ingredient as Mounjaro and both made by Eli Lilly, but Mounjaro is just for T2 diabetics and Zepbound is for obesity. She cautioned there isn't data on long term use of any of these these and going off them usually leads to regain. She said the side effects seem to be mainly GI-related and that my thyroid nodules aren't a reason to not take them. Last she cautioned about the cost, which I can handle. And Eli Lilly has discount cards for Zepbound, which brings it down a little. So I said I'd like to try it. Eek. I have 2 pairs of activewear pants that fit (waist is tight), 3 shirts, and 3 sweatshirts that fit, but all are tight enough not to be truly comfortable. Nothing else in my closet fits. No jeans, no winter coats, no blouses. It's either lose weight or buy plus-sized clothes for a body I'm not happy with.

Puppy class later today. And now nothing on the schedule for tomorrow...

Shocking the price of roofing these days! Inflation is no joke.

I hope everyone has a good day!

One of the reasons I signed up for the workshop yesterday was this statement:
FAQ- Can I lose fat without changing my diet? Yes! During the FDA studies it was proven that without any changes to life style (diet, exercise, etc.) the participants lost significant amounts of fat. This was all done without any medications, surgeries, harmful procedures or changes in diet and exercise. However, we want you to get the maximum results so we make easy to follow recommendations so you achieve your weight loss goals. We explain the process and how this is possible in our workshop.

Well, those easy to follow recommendations are fairly drastic recommendations, IMO. The main one is no GMO foods. That wipes out about 90% of all foods manufactured in the USA and will also mean going super low carb - except for oatmeal in the early part of the day. What is costly is the cold laser Zerona treatments. So, again, no magic pill.... lots of hard work, dietary restriction, etc.... I am beginning to think that it's either revision, meds, or good old fashioned dieting or a combo of two. Both revision, meds, or this laser program all will cost $$$.

If fat weren't uncomfortable and unhealthy, it'd be a lot easier just being fat. LOL....

If my knee wasn't starting to be painful (osteoarthritis again) and if I wasn't taking multiple medications for HBP, I might just give up. But really at this age it is the health concerns and the need to stay active that really make it feel so important. It was vanity in my 20's-30's, but health now (not that looking better isn't a nice by-product).

AMEN! Also if I were shorter and less oddly shaped and therefore clothes were easier to find that fit my body... There's a reason I buy every color they make of the very few things I find that fit! In this world you can be tall or you can be fat, but under no cir****tances are you allowed to be both.

In my world, it's the opposite. Lots of options for Big and Tall..... not so much for short and squat! Like the last suits I bought I had to have the sleeves shortened and the pants had to be completely rebuilt (meaning legs are shortened and taken in from crotch down to ankle outside seam and inseam, waist and seat taken in. There are a few short men's shops but the sizes stop at much smaller sizes than I am now.

I could see eliminating all highly processed foods, but all GMO would be really hard these days. I wonder if they really think GMO is making us gain (I don't believe it, I think highly processed food that is so processed it's no longer food is the issue) or if that is a gimmicky way to get you to cut out a good portion of things that would make us fat, GMO or not.

Quick drive by post. If I were going to pay for medications out of pocket I would go with the Zepbound. All statistics point to it being the most effective. Get the biggest bang for your buck. It won't be magic, you will have to work at it the same way you did post surgery. But, it will make it POSSIBLE!

I am not looking to switch, because Wegovy has knocked out my appetite. I am losing slowly, but I don't dare eat less. I sometimes wistfully wonder how well would it work if I stopped Tomaxifen.

Greetings all

Day Three of the Cable Card Crisis Chronicles: Came home to find the cable tech here yucking it up with DH. On the phone to India asking for the Data ID number for the 200th time. (there is none on this device). This guy was young and very funny and DH told him a lot of Dad jokes. The initial issue is fixed and the Tivo is now working but there are some channels we are not getting which is a different issue. We have the personal phone number of our tech, our new best friend. So it's all lots better and who knows what is next.

So I was at the studio and missed part of the cable **** show. But I did get a few things done.

Hmmmm these new WL drugs are sounding more appealing. CC thanks for the info. Food for thought LOL. I hear you on the clothes. Never could find anything to fit. Larger sizes assumed you were taller. But I was too tall for plus size petite. Nothing fits yet I am not an uncommon size. So I am relegated to sweats and the equivalent. Actually thats fine with me as I associate being dressed up with being uncomfortable and miserable. No thanks.

Interesting on your program Peps. But how can one eliminate GMO stuff? I guess by shopping at the health food store but then can you ever eat in a restaurant? I think CC is right about the processed stuff being the real culprit.. Could be it's just calorie intensive. One surgeon i my group told us that if a box label showed more than 3 ingredients you should not eat it. Come to think of it, I was fat before GMOs were invented.

Yeah I don't much care if I look fat or not but I am more concerned about my aching legs and feet and everything else. Being fat would be ok if it wasn't damaging. Knowing all this I conclude there are some very powerful biochemical gremlins that make me want to eat. Just had a small snack as all I had eaten today was GY. Dinner not soon enough.

DH has been snoring lately and has stopped using his Sleep Nora as the cover for it is worn out. So he is getting a new one. Yay. The thing works. Its a device that listens and if it hears you snore it very slightly inflates your pillow and makes you move just enough to not snore but does not wake you up..

Liz glad you canceled golf. If you don't feel like going then don't. My motto at this time of life. There used to be stuff that you HAD to go to. No more. You need a relax day. And jeez, what was up with that wiring!! Glad it's discovered and fixed.

For some reason I am getting facebook info from this Iowa Weight loss clinic. Must be because I googled Wegovy. DD what does your provider say about taking the drug long term to avoid regain? I remember researching this issue before VSG, not liking what I found, but thinking "I will be exceptional". Dream on.

Made appointment for Poppy to be spayed. No more pups in this house.

Yeah CC get some yak chews. The dogs consume them but it takes a ton of chewing to do so over weeks. My niece the vet recommended them as causing fewer issues.

Well enough rambling. At least DH is happily watching cable.

I have a check in appointment on 1/23 so I will ask about maintenance. I'm fully prepared to continue with low dose of medication if needed, but I won't be able to afford it unless it's covered by insurance.
