I am waiting for the electrician this morning (new ceiling fan and moving of existing one). He is late. So I figured I'd start this so he would arrive in the middle (LOL).
DS got in about 1.5 hours late last night. The plane was delayed by about 1/2 hour getting out of Providence but then it had to deal with wind and storm systems during the flight. By the time it landed there was a tornado watch and a thunderstorm warning here. I guess there was a lot of turbulence during the flight and it kind of bounced around touching down. DS got off the flight and got his baggage fairly quickly but they had to hold some people on the plane for a bit during the worst of the storm because the walkway off the plane (outdoors) was swaying and slippery. They cancelled the outgoing flight which was to return back to Providence. Anyway, DS was fine after a shaky start and we made it in time to a seafood restaurant where we had a good meal (all the restaurants here close at 9 or 10).
This morning Justice, DS, and I had a good walk along the marina and on the docks. Today we will have lunch at the beach club and dinner at the clubhouse. DH returns from Albany in the late afternoon.
The electrician is now 20 minutes late so time to call.
Have a willing Wednesday!
It is raining here. We need the rain, but it does restrict puppy play, which they so desperately need. I guess we will have in indoor play session and I will be diligent about monitoring for pee!
Seminar is today at 5:45. I am interested to see what it is.
Got the first estimate for roofing..... SHOCKING! 29K!!!!! That is more than double what I paid for a new roof on my last house that was larger than this one. Hoping to manage a patch job for now and replace in the spring or summer..... I'd rather sink 30K into a new kitchen! Sigh....
Geez that roofing cost seems like a lot. What kind of roof? We are replacing the Spanish tile roof on the Florida house we are selling for $52K which totally shocked me compared to the asphalt roof in Massachusetts which I replaced in 2022 for $5K (discounted a bit, but still would have been less than $10K at full price).
BTW, the roofing estimates for the Spanish tile roof ranged from $42K (unknown company) to $68K. So it seems like pricing varies a lot for improvements like this.
Greetings all
Back on the regular keyboard today. It's raining and raining here and there are some low spots flooded. But thats normal. Ponds in the cow pastures.
So DH's war with the cable company continues. He has been on the phone several times today with someone who speaks english and appears knowledgeable. They have now decided the new cable card, brought over yesterday, was not registered with the company. So DH has to drive to the cable office to get a different one. Hours searching for this magic data ID number to no avail. So I told DH to take the electric car as it's 20 miles away. Plus he needs to get out of the house. He is absolutely obsessed with electronics.
So I mentioned we watched Napoleon last night. I agreed to it so DH would calm down from his technology crisis. The movie was flat. One did not understand the guy any better than minimal history study other than he just liked war and was mostly pretty good at it. And that he loved Josephine but she was also a flat character. I hope the new cable card works so we don't have to endure more crappy tv.
Liz I hope your electrician arrived and finished stuff up. No fun to wait around. And that the travelers are safe. Horrible weather reports from my former home town. Seafood yum.
Peps $30 K for roof! We got one about 3 years ago and I think it was $13k. Lots of projects going on up and down our street but no roofs yet. But it's raining. Hope you get some puppy play time in a way thats not too messy.
CC how is pup today? Hope he gets over the biting stuff soon. There is a border terrier facebook page and people on there talk about how bitey their pups are. Like the pup shreds their pants legs. When Tesla was little she would grab the edge of my bathrobe and get dragged around the house like a bad bridesmaid.
Dog pill day today so I am thawing the liver sausage. Need to go to the pet supply for kibble and yak chews. CC you might try those. My dogs love them and keeps them busy. Made from yak milk although I have never seen a yak farm.
DD did you get snow or did it stay south? I 80 is a mess.
Laundry underway. Send good vibes for a working cable card to restore peace to our household.

I used to work in technology and I hate dealing with that connection stuff these days. So frustrating!

I'll check out yak chews! We're walking daily, but no change in the bitey excitement. I know this phase will pass, but it's higher than house accidents on the unpleasant stages list. In fact, those are the only unpleasant stages so far! Humping later will probably be up on that list.
Wow! Roofs are expensive!! The last time ours was done insurance covered it because of hail damage. All we paid was our deductible. Hope we never have to replace it on our own dime.
Sounds like the Napoleon movie was a lost opportunity. One could imagine it could be the subject of a fascinating movie, but I've yet to hear from anyone who liked it.
All the big snow storms have missed us so far. We don't have enough snow to cover the grass. This might change on Friday. There could be 3-6 inches on the ground by Saturday morning. More distressing is the drop into sub zero temps. It has to be I guess.
Having a fretful evening. My hair is falling out. One day I will have to stop taking Eliquis and what if I get more blood clots. Is DD going to be okay, last winter she had a real mental health crisis. What if, what if ... I know I'm spiraling because I'm nervous about my meetings tomorrow. Trying a technique one of my friends uses, no matter what happens, it will be well over by this time tomorrow. I will be okay.
DH made delicious meatloaf. I can eat about 2 ounces at a time. I served myself about a 5 ounce piece and ate bites of it over several hours. Protein continues to be such a struggle. Tomorrow it's tacos I think. Those go down pretty well.
