I have been up since 5:30 and made the 3 hour round-trip to the airport to drop off DH for his flight to Albany already. Justice had a very short walk during some drizzle and now we are on the lanai listening to it pouring outside. It is warm though (70) so it is pleasant with the sliders open (the rain is luckily not coming from that direction).
The former owner of our condo came by to pick up a package. She came in and saw some of the changes we have made (fairly minor but it is a little different). They are not loving their new place and are still waiting for what ended up being a 6 month bathroom renovation to finish up. Her DH says he isn't doing any more renovations there and they are already thinking of buying a different type of home/condo here on the marina. Interesting that though they also have a Marina view, they miss the one here because they don't see dolphins like we do.
Not much going on the rest of the day other than taking down the remaining Christmas decorations and vegetating with Justice. I really don't feel like slogging out anywhere in the rain. Leftovers for dinner.
I too hope Ocean Diane is doing okay. Having read a lot about the surgery I would guess she is pretty uncomfortable and unable to do much right now.
Have a satisfying Saturday!
Besides the long drive, it sounds like a kind of cozy day at home Liz. I love sitting on my front porch while it's raining. So peaceful. Its too bad the previous owners aren't happy with their new home. What was the reason they wanted to move? Luckily they did, because your place seems to suit you very well. Well, except for the several miles walk to the grill :)
Diane the increase in the studio's energy bills is rather astonishing. The cost must be absorbed somewhere.
I think we will be able to go listen to music tonight. The show starts at 6:30pm, and there is a 2nd show at 9, so it won't be a late night. The house needs some attention, but luckily not a lot of dishes since we've mostly been eating toast, and not a lot of laundry except pajamas. And sheets, they need to be washed. So definitely on the mend.
Our newspaper carrier retired after Christmas. He did our route for 9 years. They must not be able to replace him, because I've only had a paper delivered 3 times since then. Looks like I'm going to have to go digital, whether I want to or not. That makes me sad. I love reading a real paper. I think our Minneapolis Star Tribune is a great paper when I compare it to other cities we visit.
BFF is moving in tomorrow. She stayed with my SIL all of December. She will be leaving here January 31. I am holding to our boundary of no more than 4 weeks at a time. I think that's very generous, since she comes twice a year.
Good that you have set boundaries for BFF. That way you can enjoy her visit more.
Print papers seem to be destined to disappear in the near future though I still think they are easier to read.
It was a relatively cozy day - the rain cleared away by late afternoon and it was quite warm in the evening so Justice and I took a couple of longer walks late in the day.
Greetings all
An initially sunny day turned into a thunder storm and downpour including hail. Fortunately it cleared up while I traveled to the gallery. Started up again later in the afternoon. The worst of it is that we have this "open" flag that becomes a dripping mess in the rain. I put it in the kitchen sink. But I did get some visitors and made a few sales but its all good.
DH got a new Tivo and has spent the day setting it uo. Not sure why he wanted it but oh well. Hope he gets rid of the old one. Maybe pigs will fly.
Liz hope you had a restful day after your early trip. Your place sounds wonderful and maybe the sellers regret it. Too bad!
DD glad you are feeling well enough to go out and about. Dining out is a good option. Must make a new years resolution to do that more often. No reason not to other than pure laziness. How much energy does it take to drive to a restaurant and hand over a credit card?
DH brought home enchiladas from the health food store so thats a break for me.
I am looking around for some art inspiration. Getting tired of making the same figures, Studio buddy ad I will meet up tomorrow and reestablish our claim to our studio space as others desire it.
I am still doing my walks. Did it today at the gallery. Must keep this up.
Time to feed the livestock. Cheers.

Not much of a day! Cold here and a little snow tomorrow. I'll share Kirby pics if he enjoys it.
I did give him what I thought was an innocuous, chew, a beef tendon that came in a bag from a company called Pupford whose training treats have worked well for Kirby. He loved it. Unfortunately. It turned from a very thin chew into a thick white fibrous, almost gelatinous mass that he kept trying to swallow while still chewing on the hard end. He sounded like he was choking. He was so crazed over it he wouldn't let me near him to get it away. I've never struggled to dig anything out of his mouth, but he was hanging on for dear life. On my third attempt, I was finally able to pull it out. It had grown to about 10 inches! The rest are going in the garbage. What a very scary waste of money! Thank goodness I was watching him.
Nothing else to report here. Hope everyone had a good day!
