I almost typed 2023. Trying to be careful.
Our friends who left yesterday morning informed us late yesterday that the husband had tested positive for COVID (he was feeling under the weather while here but had tested negative on the first day). Hopefully since DH just had it 5 weeks ago and I didn't get it then neither of us will end up with it. At least our next company (my son) doesn't arrive for another week.
I found a gorgeous dress online by a reasonably priced designer who I like yesterday. I could wear it to DH's son and wife's wedding celebration in May or DD's wedding if in September. But I would need to be a bit thinner for it to look good. Sigh. Maybe I should invest in Wegovy out of pocket for a few months? I certainly couldn't afford to do it long-term.
I was reading DD's comments about her hair. My nephew's wife who experienced hair loss due to chemotherapy last year (but not fully) has a lot growing back now. She has straggly thin hair to her shoulders and super thick hair for about the first 2-3 inches. I feel like she could do a cute short cut, then grow it from there. But she has never had short hair. Her solution right now is to wear a knit cap much of the time. Not a major life decision compared to what she went through last year but maybe it would help her feel better (she is very emotional right now with hormone changes and possibly Tamoxifen effects).
Our day is free of appointments so we will probably do a few errands and make calls. But first time for the daily Justice walk.
Have a thoughtful Thursday!

Hi all!
The boiler repair guy came and replaced the vent tubes. He showed me pictures of the two 4" PVC pipes and they were solid mud wasp nests! These new vents have filters on the end, so it shouldn't be an issue again. He was loving on Kirby and said what so many do - he doesn't look real! He also said he belonged on a puppy dog food bag.
Kirby is taking a forced nap, bitey boy! He gets crazy and really needs to snooze it off.
Aside from that, today has been a lazy one.
Liz, this I took from UniversityofCalifornia.edu:
Q: Can Wegovy be used short-term to "jump start" weight loss?
A: No, these medications for weight loss don't work that way. There was one study done with Wegovy, called the STEP 4 Trial, that looked at short-term use. Study participants started on the medication for 20 weeks, then, after 20 weeks, half stayed on the medication and half went off. The half who stopped the medication regained almost all of their weight, about 70 percent, after 48 weeks.
Hope you all are having a great day!
Liz, it's hard to say about Wegovy as a reset. It takes a minimum of 4 months to get to what is considered a therapeutic dose. But many people do lose weight on even the lowest dose. I think as a WLS patient, you could buckle down and make the most of it.
Have you heard of Saxenda? It is older, and somewhat less effective than Wegovy. It is the WLS version of Victoza. It's been approved for weight loss surgery for several years. People do loss weight on it, and a lot of people who can't find Wegovy have switched. It requires a daily injection, rather than weekly. But maybe it's more affordable?
Anyhow, my understanding is Wegovy is more effective than Saxenda, and Zepbound (Monjuro) is more effective than Wegovy. If you're good to pay out of pocket, maybe you want Zepbound? Brown Eyed Blonde is taking a version of this.
CC, Kirby is a very photogenic guy! And those darn wasps! The never ending parade of wild life there in Arizona.
Woke up with a head cold, darn it. I took a Covid test, negative so far. Some students were very disregulated after a week off. Fun. Hopefully tomorrow is better. The days are slowly getting more daylight, onward to spring!
Greetings all
Rain and more rain today. I started by losing three games at scrabble. I think I am getting dumber with age. Then I got my Tuesday cheeseburger and went to the bank. Had some checking account money that needed to be earning more. Came home and was feeling kind of chilled so crawled in bed for a bit.
Yeah my hair is kind of weird too. It's really fly away and I think a bit thinner. So it goes. I have not lost any weight but protein is not so good. Must fix that. I made chili yesterday and we watched tons of football. More chili tonight. Liz I feel for your nephews wife with hair issues from cancer. Some women get new hair with a different texture. I don't blame her for wearing a hat. I had a friend who had us all help her pick out a short haircut because she wanted to cut it before she started treatment.
DD thanks for the info on the current weight loss drugs. I probably should do that but I feel like if i can barely motivate myself to get enough protein then it won't do me much good. Defeatist attitude.
CC Kirby needs an agent. He is so adorable.
Time to pick up all the junk in the house before the cleaner comes tomorrow. DH put away our toy christmas tree. Wish he would do that with his tool kits.

OMG! So sorry you have to go through this. I am getting my right (dominant) shoulder replaced in March (due to long-term osteoarthritis), so have done a lot of reading about what it entails. I hope your recovery goes smoothly.
BTW, someone I talked to recently thought that they were given an ice machine by the hospital after their surgery (you might want to check on that?).
